Summary:
Bug When Approving Membership Request
Original Request:
So one of the communities I moderate (it's an RP comm) occasionally gets new journals asking to join one of the comms! And today (Feb 17 2024) me and two of the other mods ran into a weird bug where if we clicked "approve membership" in the request email, it would *reject* the request and tell us that the request had been handled. When we clicked "manage requests" in the email, it would *approve* the request and tell us that there were no requests waiting. We looked at the URLs of the links sent, and they say "approve", "reject", and "queue/members" in the URL, but for whatever reason they are not doing what they said they're supposed to be doing. We think it's been happening since at least last night, possibly longer.

Hi there -
Are you still experiencing this issue with community membership approvals? And is it only for this one community or have you experienced it with others as well?
Grazie,
H2

We are still experiencing the bug, but I haven't tried it with any other comms recently.
Hi there!
Just checking in on this again - are you still experiencing this issue?

so we thought it was fixed but we found out today that it is not actually fixed and at least one of the comms I help run is still not working properly. so sorry to reopen this!

Hello!
I've taken a look at the code that generates the emails and everything seems to be in order. The next time you receive the moderation approval message that doesn't work, can you copy and paste the text of the email (or source code of the email, if it's in HTML format) into this support request? Thanks!

below is the text of the email. this happened last night. for some context: it's an RP community that I'm a mod of, and the official mod email forwards notifications to our personal inboxes.

Hi again!
Thanks for sharing that! So this is what I'm seeing:
- The "Approve" link goes to https://www.dreamwidth.org/approve
- The "Reject" link goes to https://www.dreamwidth.org/reject
- The "Manage" link goes to /communities/kaisouooc/queue/members
Are you still saying that clicking each of those links does the wrong thing?
Best,

I'm saying that when anyone attempts to join, they are automatically rejected. We don't have to click anything, they just get auto rejected.
