Summary:
scribefire client
Original Request:
I've been trying to blog using the Scribefire client (http://www.scribefire.com/).
I've tried configuring it with Blogger (http://www.dreamwidth.org/interface/xmlrpc) which results in "Your username or password was not recognized" even if I'm sure I entered the correct username and password.
I also tried the MetaWeblog API (http://www.dreamwidth.org/interface/xmlrpc) which results in "Failed to access class (blogger): Can't locate blogger.pm in @INC (@INC contains:) at (eval 1914)[/user/share/perl5/SOAP/Lite.pm:2672] line3, <Sock_10.176.64.129:7001> line55."
Is this a known issue or is there a proper configuration that I'm supposed to use?
Diagnostics: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042316 Firefox/3.0.10

Oops, the blogger URL I used was http://www.dreamwidth.org/interface/blogger (found from http://wiki.dwscoalition.org/notes/Compatible_clients)
Hi Erilyn,
I can't make either of those work when I try to configure manually, but I did stumble upon a way to make Scribefire work with Dreamwidth with one caveat -- you'll need to have a LiveJournal or InsaneJournal account of the same name. The following steps worked for me:
1. Enter your Dreamwidth journal URL.
2. Scribefire will tell you that it couldn't auto-detect your blog settings, and give you the choice to either Try Again or Configure Manually. Don't worry though!
Choose "Try Again".
3. Scribefire will invite you to enter your blog's URL again; it'll contain the journal you entered before. Continue...
4. You'll get a new dropdown, asking you which blogging service you want to add, and this list contains both LiveJournal and InsaneJournal. Here's where it gets tricky: you'll need to enter valid credentials for either your LiveJournal or your InsaneJournal account, and the username must match that of this Dreamwidth account.
5. You'll end up with a new blog. Edit it to reflect your Dreamwidth credentials. Scribefire may error, saying that have an invalid password. If this happens, close Scribefire, then open it again.
6. Try posting.
A less complicated way, and one which requires less of a workaround, may be to get in contact with the extension author, and convince them to add Dreamwidth to the list of supported blogs.
Good luck!

Thank you! It worked like a charm. It looks like you don't need to have the same username, as long as you get an account working, then edit it, it seems to be fine. The extension author has already been requested for this feature and hopefully it will come out in the next release. But until then, this workaround is pretty good. Thanks again.
