Hi folks,
I had opened a support request several months back because my comments to the "ecosophia" dreamwidth journal kept showing up several times, even though I had definitely only ever posted them once.
That was a real nuisance to the owner of the journal! Back then, changing the browser, device, ... all didn't help, and your support finally got back to me with the message that it had been a database issue, and that your programmers had fixed it.
Well, this issue has started to flare up again, and not just with my own account - there have also been double/triple/... comments by other people in the past few weeks. Since a few days ago, my own account is now affected again, and it's pretty heavy: almost every comment I post has shown up at least twice in the past few days, and me or the owner of the journal have to delete them.
Please ask your programmers to look into this again. As I said, it's a real nuisance for the owner of the journal (and he is a dreamwidth power user and has a lot of reach - this makes dreamwidth look bad to everybody who is reading his blog and commenting on it).
One thought - please pass this on to the programmers/tech support: My latest comments were all done from an ipad with German keyboard settings.
I.e. something like "it's" looks like this: it‘s (note the special character as apostrophe).
And the quotes " from the ipad look like this: „“
(see e.g. here to see the characters in action: https://ecosophia.dreamwidth.org/218888.html?thread=39165704#cmt39165704)
Not sure if these speical characters might break something in your database? It's at least a starting point for the developers to look into, and would also explain why it doesn't happen all of the time, and by far not for everybody.
Thanks,
Milkyway
