Summary:
"filter to this entry" in inbox has stopped working
Original Request:
I tried to "filter to this entry" in my inbox yesterday, and it said "no messages". It still says that today.

Hello Nora,
In order for us to troubleshoot this issue could you please answer a few questions to give us a bit more information?
1) Do the messages pertaining to the entry in question appear in your inbox when you don't filter to the entry?
2) Are these messages marked as read or unread?
3) Are these the only messages in your inbox?
4) Does this only happen with comments for one entry or for all entries?
Thanks,
ChemicalLace

Hi ChemicalLace
Oh, so it's not happening for everybody? Oh no.
1) Yes, I can see them all when I don't filter.
2) I've tried it with both read and unread messages, and no matter which, the filter says "no messages"
3) I have several different messages in my inbox
4) I've tried with the comments for four or five different entries and I can't filter to any of them.

Hi Nora,
We've still been unable to reproduce this issue. Is it still happening for you? I've put out a call for more testers to help us get to the bottom of this.
Best,
ChemicalLace

Thank you for looking at it for me :-)
Yes, it is still happening.
Yes, it is still happening.
Hi Nora,
It looks like there's some error at work, but that the error message is being suppressed. I've put in some changes to make the error message show up (so we can find out what's going on and do an actual fix), and that will give us some additional information to work with after the next code push.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience! We'll let you know when you should the single entry view again.
cheers,
afuna

Thank you :-D
Hi Nora,
We've put through the code afuna mentioned above in the most recent code push, so if you try viewing your inbox again now, do you still receive an error? If you do, can you let us know what it is?
Best,
Dom

Hi Dom :-)
It stilll doesn't work, but the error message does show up now:
There was an error processing your request:
Can't call method "ditemid" on an undefined value at /home/dw/current/cgi-bin/LJ/NotificationInbox.pm line 181.

Hi Nora,
The good news is, we're pretty sure we've figured out the problem and can put a fix in for it without much trouble. It appears to be that there are deleted entries, and so the inbox has trouble filtering the comments on them appropriately.
This fix should be in after the next code push, which will be announced in dw_maintenance.
Best,
Dom

Great, thank you! :-)
Hi Nora,
We've put through a patch which should fix this for you. Please let us know if you try again and find that you are still having problems.

Thank you. When you said it was because I had some comments to a deleted entry in the inbox, I found and deleted those, and it worked immediately again, so I can't test your parch sorry. Thank you for all your help, and I will let you know if anything doesn't work again :-)
