|Summary:||[Chrome] Can't update journal in Chrome|
Is Google Chrome supported anymore? For the past few weeks I've been unable to update my journal in it. Can't switch from rich text to html, can't write anything in the box. It works with Internet Explorer but I don't use that since my add-ons don't function there. Please fix it! It's so inconvenient. Thanks.
Diagnostics: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/37.0.2062.124 Safari/537.36

Can you please confirm for us if you are still having this issue?

Yes, it's still an issue, though the extent appears to have changed a little. I tried updating a few moments ago and this is what happened:
- the Post an Entry page loaded automatically with the HTML tab already selected. I was able to type my entry in the box and post successfully (yay!).
- when I tried to change to Rich Text by clicking the corresponding tab, it changed to this tab but I was unable to type anything in the box (boo!). In addition, there was no Rich Text tool bar that I'm used to seeing. I was subsequently unable to switch back to the HTML tab to make my post, so I was forced to close the window and start again.
Hope all that makes sense!

Since you're still having this problem, can you please confirm which version of Chrome you are currently using, and then try downloading any updates if they are available to see if the problem resolves? You can do this by clicking the Customize button near the top right corner of your browser, and selecting About Google Chrome from the list.

Thanks for such a quick response.
Version 38.0.2125.104 m
It checked for updates, then told me Google Chrome is up-to-date.
I've checked the problem again just now and it still persists.

I cannot apologize enough for the very long time it took us to get back to you. At this point I can only suggest disabling your add-ons and re-enabling them one by one if you haven't tried this. There may be one which is interfering with the editor. If this doesn't change a thing making sure your browser is up-to-date and that its options are set to default, clearing your browser's cache (https://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse?faqid=249) and, as a last resort, uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome entirely are some other options. If none of this works I'm afraid I don't have any better suggestions as we haven't really been able to reproduce the issue and it seems to only happen to some users for some reason we haven't pinpointed yet. Our RTE editor is very old and, unfortunately, diagnosing and fixing issues is often next to impossible.
I would suggest using our beta update page instead --you can turn it on at https://www.dreamwidth.org/beta--- but I'm aware it only has an HTML editor so this may not be a valid alternative for you. Our developers have been searching high and low for a new Rich Text one, which would be bug-free and a good replacement. So far, no good.
I'm so very sorry I can't suggest a better solution or a better alternative. My apologies again for the inconvenience and for the delay in getting back to you.
