If you're coming from LiveJournal to Dreamwidth: General Terminology

There are some words and phrases that are either unique to Dreamwidth or which are used differently on Dreamwidth than they were on LiveJournal:

Site-skinned pages: These are any pages on Dreamwidth that contain the menus "Create", "Organize", "Read", "Explore", and "Shop". All of the site-skinned pages display the Dreamwidth logo unless you have chosen "Lynx" as your site skin from the "Display" tab on the "My Account Settings" page.

Interactions Menu: The strip on the side of the Profile Page with the icons for options like Modify, Access, Send Message, Track. Which options are displayed will depend on whether you are viewing your own journal or someone else's journal, and whether you are logged-in or logged-out.

Archive: This replaces "Calendar" on LiveJournal, but like the LiveJournal Calendar, the Dreamwidth Archive displays past entries of a journal or community by year or by month.

Reading Page: Your reading page replaces your "Friends Page". It's all the journals and communities to which you are subscribed.

Circle: Your "Circle" is all the people, communities, and feeds with whom and with which you have a relationship of any kind.

Network: your Circle's circle. This means the equivalent of the Friends' friends page is "Read your Network" and the equivalent of "Popular with Friends" is "Popular in your Network". The Network page is available for paid users.

Access Filter: This is the same as a "Custom Friends Group" on LiveJournal. It lets a sub-group of the people who can see your Locked entries see your even-more-locked entries.

Reading Filter: This is the same as "Filter Friends Page" on LiveJournal, letting you read only some of your journals/communities/feeds in your Circle.

Confirmed/Confirmation: On LiveJournal, your email address was validated. On Dreamwidth, your email address is "confirmed".

Feeds: On LiveJournal, you will have called it syndication or syndicated accounts. On Dreamwidth, they are known simply as "Feeds".

Profile: On LiveJournal, it's User Info, on Dreamwidth, it's your Profile.

Tracking/Notifications: You'll track an entry or comment. You'll receive notifications when someone adds you to their circle, or possibly when someone comments on an entry you're tracking.
