Known Issues
If you have a question about how to do something on Dreamwidth, you can read or search the FAQs. If you can't find an answer, we'd be happy to help.
The following is a list of the most common issues that users encounter on Dreamwidth. You may also wish to look at the Current Issues FAQ category, which has an expanded list of current issues. If you're experiencing one of these bugs, you don't need to open a request to report it. We already have it logged into our bug tracker, and we'll be fixing it as quickly as we can.
Payments
- We are currently unable to accept payments by credit card. We're working to implement a new payment processor; in the meantime, you can pay for your account with check or money order. Please see
dw_news for more information.
- If, for whatever reason, you are unable to make a payment via check or money order, please email accounts@dreamwidth.org for assistance.
- If you have any other problems with your payment that you can't resolve, contact us at accounts@dreamwidth.org.
Importer
- Common import failure issues
- Embedded media may not work on imported entries.
- Icon keywords with some UTF-8-encoded characters are failing to import properly.
- Tags you've deleted on the remote site may import along with tags that are used on your entries.

Entries/Comments
- When posting to a community, you may experience some issues when there's an account set up for crossposting, with no saved password, and no password entered in the textbox. This interferes with the posting mechanism. Before switching to post to your community (which makes invisible the crossposting options area), first uncheck all accounts with crossposting enabled. Once you have done this, you can select your community and create your entry as normal.
- Some HTML tags that users enter in entries or comments will not properly display.
- When using the Previous and Next links to navigate items in your journal, you may be taken to the wrong entry.
