About Us: Open Operation

We strongly believe the most important element of any site like ours is the people who use it. We think we have a great product backed up by talented staff and volunteers, but we know that counts for absolutely nothing if nobody wants to use it.

We’re going to work hard to create a good working relationship with you, the people who use Dreamwidth. We want you to always feel that we're working with you rather than against you and that we're acting in your best interests. We know this won't be easy and that we'll probably make mistakes at times, but it's something we're committed to.

One of our main efforts in this direction is to be completely open about every aspect of our operations. If you want to keep up with our operations and business decisions, you can read [site community profile] dw_biz.

We know there'll be times when we'll need to make decisions you won't like; there'll be times when we'll need to make decisions that we don't like either. We hope by explaining the reasons for our decisions, you'll be able to understand why we need to make them — even when you don't agree with them.

We're also committed to guiding our development to suit the needs of our community. For instance, our operating agreement states that one-third of all our profits will be spent on developments decided by the community.
