"We sometimes encounter people, even perfect strangers, who begin to interest us at first sight, somehow suddenly, all at once."
☄ lights down low The lighting has dimmed in all the rooms and halls, the normally crisp air that is pumped from the vents low, and all machines and tech are running at half-speed. These effects can be found throughout the ship. Water in the showers remain hot for only a few minutes before reverting to cold. Recreational equipment powers off not long after it has been turned on. The sanitation and water filtration systems require an hourly manual reboot, and all unused areas of the ship have no power allotted to them until a crew member steps inside. Even then, most functions are not optimal. It’s as if the Moira has been transformed into a dark house with only a candle flickering on the window sill. ☄ reuse & recycle The Captain and First Mate are quick to establish that this is a new regime and go about making the ship and its crew more efficient in the wake of their change in course and the low power state of the ship itself. This means they will systematically inspect each occupied barracks room and leave notes for what needs to be disposed of or stowed away. Unlike before, this is no longer a pleasure cruise, and each member of the crew is a guest on board; they will not tolerate useless clutter. Anything seen as unnecessary will be either placed into storage in the Cargo Bay or disposed of through the airlock. This new need for efficiency also extends to the need to conserve resources until they reach their destination. The showers are set to an automatic timer to minimize water waste. Those few minutes of hot water are all a crew member is now given. Meals are smaller, bordering on ration sizes, and luxuries are done away with entirely in order to preserve supplies so that the ship can go longer before needing to dock at a planet. ☄ new jobs, same faces The Captain and his First Mate, as expressed in their addressing of the Moira, explain that work efficiency is a priority. Applications for a head of the following departments will be accepted for a short period: Navigation, the Tower, Medbay, Defense, the Hold, Sanitation, Ingress work, and the Galley/Mess Hall. (Here.) After reviewing what they receive, one head of department will be chosen and tasked with helping crew find positions relevant to those departments and their own skillsets. They will be allowed to retain any positions that they held before that aren’t ship-functional jobs, but they will have to be done in leisure time. In two weeks time, they’ll be accepting department position applications which will be approved, and all those that do not apply will be assigned in accordance with their initial work application. They will also choose three individuals to act as guards of Ploiatos to ensure that there is a rotation available at all times. Will you choose to follow this new decision and promote yourself into a position of responsibility? Or will you simply wait for a reassignment? |
Hanzo Shimada | Overwatch
[Undoubtedly, you have seen many odd arrivals in the past, and of course today.
That does not change with this man. Although his stern, suspicious scowl is apparent on his face, the main feature that stands out on him is his intricate dragon tattoo on his bare left arm.
Hanzo stands there for a moment as he takes in his current environment, clutching his bow as he attempts to decide whether or not he's in a hostile situation.
As he observes, his free hand reaches down toward his belt, as if he's looking to grab something, but--
The item in question is missing.
Hanzo quickly looks enraged, and turns to face the next closest person.]
You! Some of my personal affects are missing. Where are they?!
[b - POST-MEDBAY]
[This whole thing is preposterous.
The rage bubbling up inside of Hanzo has been far from quelled, no matter how many times he's been explained the situation. He has asked his questions, he has made his demands, and nothing changes what is true for everyone here:
They are stuck. They are far away from their home planets. They are trapped.
Normally, such things would never be able to contain the dragon, but this is beyond even him. There is no incredible escape, there is nothing to do but wait until the next opportunity is available.
So wait he will have to do.
For the duration of his storming down the hall, Hanzo looked ready to attempt murder on the next person who spoke to him. However, he pauses when he spots the closest window that allows him to gaze out into space.
It sinks in, the truth. How far they are, how alone out here it is. The blackness, the stars--
Hanzo's hardened expression softens faintly into a faint frown.]
Of all the roads to take, this is not one that I predicted.
[c - WILDCARD, BABY.]
a - he got he tiddy out
I just got here, man. I am sure I have no idea. What did you lose?
[he tilts his head, trying to hide the confusion in his expression. hanzo looks kitted out, he can't see anything that might be missing. maybe it's a piece of jewellery. either way, he's not too happy to have it taken out on him.]
Looks like something has gone seriously wrong, anyway.
no subject
That said, Hanzo looks no less placated and just as angry as before, his hand clutched in a tight fist and the other still gripping his bow.]
Something that is mine. [Very specific.]
That is clear to see! Whoever has taken us here and taken anything from me will answer for it.

[HE GOT THAT, THANKS.]

Arrival
Not all of your things travel with you across dimensions. Make due with it.
no subject
Hanzo approaches, unconcerned of the young man's cybernetic arms.
(Who did this, who struck you down, who almost--)]
Then perhaps you can bring to light the specifics of our situation.
[As angry as he is that the gourd is gone, the present matter is admittedly more important.]
no subject
(He did it to himself, he chose this, all in the name of...)]
You've crossed into a new universe and are now aboard the spaceship Moira. You'll be assigned a job.
Do you have any cybernetic enhancements?

ARRIVAL
[Yelling that at the big guy in the bigger suit of armor?]
[Maybe slow your roll a little there, Shimada.]
[For the big guy's part, he just spreads his hands. Or, hand. The other one is busy holding his hammer.]
I wouldn't know!
no subject
Although there is something somewhat familiar about this man, but he can't quite pin what.]
Tch, no, I suppose you would not. Insufficient; you keep your enormous hammer, and I lose what is mine.
no subject
It was not up to me, my angry friend. I had no say in any of this.

B
[Says the guy at the other end of the hall. Totally not carrying a big roll of plastic. And totally not hiding it behind his back. Thanks, Prank War.]
[He does wave, though, grinning a little sheepishly.]
It's kinda scrap though sometimes. Cool as it is. Sorry, man.
no subject
This, however, is an incredibly tall robot, speaking without fear, so casually.
Like he is a boy.
Hanzo frowns, uncertain of how to determine this tall synthetic just yet.]
You have... been here long, then?
no subject
[He'll take that as an invitation to saunter closer, making casual shrugging motions like he talks to random grouchy strangers everyday.]
[And maybe he does these days.]
It was cool at first! And then people started suckin' all the joy out of it, y'know?

B
... I don't think anyone predicted interdimensional travel as a future for them.
[ Curiosity quickly turns into concern though. ]
... Aren't you cold?
[ He's walking around in his armor just to keep warm. How is this man not freezing his literal tits off? ]
no subject
He has seen and witnessed many things, but this ... creature is far from anything he's ever met or interacted with.
He quickly realizes he is staring while being spoken to. Hanzo tips his head into a small bow, as if to offer an apology without words.]
The temperature does not particularly bother me.
Forgive me. I have never seen anyone like you before.
no subject
[ Should he bow back? Shrugging internally, Nihlus quickly bows back. He does vaguely remember this being a typical form of greeting for several of the Terran cultures. ]
I'm Nihlus. Engineering. I don't recall having seen you around before?

b - it's time it's time it's TIME
It couldn't be, could it? The only picture she'd seen of him had been quite old, but... around the eyes, especially— she may not be certain, but she's got an inkling. Wasn't this him? Genji's brother. The hard expression had hints of his anger still scorching the edges, white-hot until smoldering to orange and cherry red and finally black, curling in.
Her tone may be a little curt, but her heart goes out to that touch of forlornness. ]
At least none of us are alone in this place; we've all been taken from our homes and our lives. Everyone here shares that common ground.
[ The stars are beautiful; he's found a good place to gaze out at them, so she'll linger near him to admire the view for a moment herself. Angela was never someone to jump into situations half-cocked; she can feel him out if her suspicions are even correct. She may be completely off her mark. ]
no subject
That is the cruel truth. He already knows that Genji is here, which means there is no where to go. He will be faced with his handiwork every day here until they are no longer on this ship. After that?
After that, he knows.
Hanzo looks at this woman, and has the nagging sense of familiarity, like he should know something about her. Hanzo frowns a moment before he turns back to look at the stars.]
There is that.
If we must work together, then there is something we can all relate to.
no subject
[ Angela doesn't miss his eyes on her, feeling the prickle of being observed, but her eyes remain on the stars. They seem so much more infinite when viewed amongst them than from the Earth.
Yet foreign, and cold. These weren't her stars. She'd never claim to be any sort of astronomer or even astrologist, but she remembers the constellations of the cardinal directions to guide her home.
There isn't a single one to be found. He's had plenty of time to look at her and she doesn't think she can keep staring at the stars much longer. It's unraveling something in her that has yet to sink its claws about her heart. ]
I'm Angela; I'll be assigned to the medbay as a physician. While I certainly hope no one has cause to come by or end up on an exam table of mine, I hope you'll feel comfortable if you ever need assistance knowing some of our faces. Everyone I've met there so far has been kind.
Have you ever had an interest in the stars?

You're barkin' up the wrong tree, partner. Ain't taken nothin' of yours. Don't reckon the rest will be of much help, either.
no subject
A low growl of frustration is given and Hanzo looks away irritably.]
If this place knows what's good for it...
[He trails off, then snorts.
There had better be some sort of bar here.]

[ Bee offers at least that much. it's understandable for people to be upset, even if he can't find it in himself to be enraged.
right now he's roaming about in his holomatter avatar. it's easier than being physically present - the hallways don't need more than one Cybertronian meandering down them at once. ]
Thus far it's being anything but uneventful.
no subject
Possible. He snorts, and shakes his head.]
I cannot assume what your life has been like, but being here is an issue for me.
sorry about the delay
You're not alone in that, but there's really little you can do about it, right? So personally I'd rather live in the moment while I still can.
[ there's a human expression... what is it? ]
Oh what's that saying... When life gives you lemons, make lemonade?
[ yeah, that's the one. ]
