How strange. So the Ingress is acting at random both ways... You have to wonder how anyone managed to make that happen.

[ The captains not being part of the original crew makes some level of sense, she supposes. If they had been on the crew, they may have known what happened to break the Ingress in the first place and thus have possible ideas on how to fix it. Although, throwing the possibility of not being able to trust the captains at their word, it could also be that the Ingress isn't broken, and is in fact functioning the way it's supposed to--bringing in all kinds from other universes to work on the crew.

Though the purpose behind that is as open to possibilities as every other aspect of this whole situation. ]

No, simply taking their word hardly seems wise. It's possible they're telling the truth, but equally so that they're lying about something, somewhere. A situation as full of uncertainties and unknowns as this one, it's difficult to know what to believe for sure.

[ She nods a little as she speaks, though when she's finished, she folds her arms and a smirk plays at her lips. ]

I've always enjoyed a good challenge, though.

Oh, exactly. And therein lies the real problem: we have no idea and no way of knowing. Even studying it can only produce so many results without any information from anyone before the earliest crew member's arrival, or without performing any experiments. However, given the nature of the situation, experiments could be dangerous in any number of ways. We're rather pinned down into having to hope that the captains really do know somewhere to get it fixed, if it really is broken.

[ It puts them in a situation where they have to depend on what's said more than many of them might like to. There's unlikely to be any way for them to further their knowledge on the Ingress safely, which is likely to prove frustrating, but who knows? Maybe an opportunity will arise somewhere along the line. ]

I'd say you're being just the right amount of paranoid. In a situation like this, you can't blindly believe everything you're told, though at the same time you can't be sure that there isn't some truth to it. It's best to not trust, but not entirely disregard, either.

[ It's nice to find someone with some sense. Not that she hasn't enjoyed meeting the crew so far, but so many of them seem to be either too trusting or too paranoid. You need the right kind of balance, and to her, it seems like Bruce has that. Yes, she thinks she'll enjoy stopping by the science department now and then. ]
