Yeah. I'm okay. It's just Armin I'm worried about. I couldn't move them at the same time. They were a little too heavy. So I grabbed her first and went back for him. But someone moved his body from where I hid it. [There's a sound that's a bit too mirthless to be a laugh.] Fucking karma, right? Considering how he hid Chouko and you guys snatched her up.

I'm going off to look for him. I'll either find him or there's supposed to be a safehouse for the people he was corvigering for in the neighborhood, so if it gets too close to dawn I'll flee there for the night.

Ugh. This is really all Melissa's fault.

She didn't kill him. He, ah, locked the two of them in his mind after he saw her kill you, which is why they were both unconscious. He's really good at mind stuff like that.

We used to have a space on the lab van's whiteboard listing how many days since we'd had a body stashed in there.

And yeah. Armin's kinda scary sometimes. Not, like, in a bad way entirely? But holy shit.

We never did before I died. Actually, when when we first put it up, we hadn't even broken single digits between one body and the other.

We did our best. Did I ever tell you about the time I kali-ma'd a guy's heart from his chest? Our first night together as a team. We accidentally wound up with the corpse, so we were going to frame these other guys for organ theft.

... it's more I'm worried for other people, I guess.

Okay. So. As you may have noticed, I really am a vampire. Our little group was all vampires. And we were supposed to get this operation by the Vampire Mob, the Giovanni, shut down. They were doing some shit in this warehouse. But before we were going off to do that, everyone who was hungry stopped to get someone to eat.

And, ah, someone overate and we got left with a corpse on our hands.

So someone suggested we should use our handy corpse to frame them for organ trafficking. So we cut off the dead guy's head and I ended up pulling the guy's heart out from his chest and we used the hole I'd made to get the other organs out, but because of various other fuck-ups, we never got to plant the body premises because it was on fire. Though I think Meg actually did leave the cooler full of organs there.

So we stuck my bowling ball in the guy's new chest cavity, rolled him up in plastic, and dumped him in the Hudson. And, like, I gave the head to my sire. I think he was planning on having it pilot a robot, but I dunno if he made it by the time we both died.
