Missing (OTA)
Liz stood in the middle of the lobby with a quiet, panicked look on her face. She turned around a second time, surveying the scene around her, but the second pass didn't help any. She ran a hand through her hair and then headed for one of the couches. She pulled back the cushions, digging her hand into the crevice of the gaudy plush decor and when her hand emerged empty, she felt her chest tighten.
Liz's journal was missing.
She thought she had brought it back to the room yesterday after studying in the cafe, but this morning when she went to review her notes from the day before, she had discovered that the familiar book she had so many things in was gone. She had checked the library, the restaurant, the cafe, even the kitchen itself. It had to be somewhere, right?
(ooc: Find her pretty much anywhere. Also! Feel free, if your character would so choose, to find the journal and read all or some of it because I am a cruel mistress.)

He looked a lot better than he had a few days ago. He was back to his normal self minus being stuck in a weird inn.
"You look worried," He added.
Brad/Liz
"You haven't seen a book that's this big and brown, have you?" She mimicked the size with her hands.
Re: Brad/Liz
"No, sorry." He answered, shaking his head. "...Is there like, really personal stuff in there?"
It's a girl's journal. There probably is a bunch of personal stuff in it.
"I can help you look if you want," He offered.
Re: Brad/Liz
"Um, sure, yeah. I probably need all the help I can get." Her luck it was back home on her bed or something. "I was going to go check the kitchen, if you'd like to come along and be an extra set of eyes."
Re: Brad/Liz
"Yeah, sure." He replied with a nod. "I haven't been to the kitchen yet. It's weird to think we're just allowed into the back of a restaurant."
He followed when Liz led the way.
Re: Brad/Liz
"I guess working at my parent's cafe helps me not feel as weird about it, but you're right." She nodded. "It's like, sometimes you find yourself looking around for the person in charge and you realize there really isn't and you can do things here that you wouldn't normally." At least that was how Liz felt.
She led them into the kitchen. The chef that worked at the hotel was there, but, like always, seemed to ignore them. Liz began to search the cupboards as if maybe someone put it away there for some reason.
Re: Brad/Liz
Bradley looked around from sheer fascination. He walked up to one of the refrigerators and looked inside.
"That's a lot of chicken," He said, closing the door.
He turned and saw Liz searching. Right, I'm helping look for a journal. He started to search.
"When did you start getting used to this place?" He asked, opening a drawer.
Re: Brad/Liz
That was a good question.
"Um... maybe after a month and a half? Maybe two?" Maybe when she kissed Peter in January. "My life is, um... well, it's kind of weird back home so this place wasn't, like, a complete surprise, I guess."
Re: Brad/Liz
A month and a half seemed so far away. Maybe I won't ever get used to this place.
"I keep waking up thinking I'm going to see my mom and brother again." He said. I even miss Ted.. "... What's weird about back home for you?"
Re: Brad/Liz
She stopped what she was doing and looked over at Brad. She felt so bad for him. While she missed her family and friends, she hadn't left at a moment where one of the was in trouble - at least not that she knew of - and she had people here who helped her too. To his question, though, she paused.
"Well.... I'm from Roswell, New Mexico." She paused again. "So... I maybe, kind of... know some aliens?" She wasn't sure he'd buy that, even if she had managed to say it more confidently than she had.
Re: Brad/Liz
Brad processed this as he turned away from his searching.
"Are you saying... real aliens exist?" He asked. "Wait... aren't those aliens like, really old? Didn't the crash there happen in the fifties or something?"
Re: Brad/Liz
"1947, actually, and... yeah. It's kind of complicated, but the pods they were in didn't open until later." It was even more complicated than that, but she thought maybe the revelations of aliens was enough. "So, yeah. I'm kind of used to the weird here.. even though I was never in another reality before here, it still sort of... made sense, I guess?" Plus when your boyfriend comes from the future, married, and then disappears things get easier to believe.
"And this place is like home, sort of." She paused. "It's, um. It's 2000 for me back home."
Re: Brad/Liz
"You're from the past?" Brad said, looking at her again. She looks just like a lot of girls back home
He regarded her again and as he did he tried to pick up any hint of history from her. He didn't see any.
"But, uh, aliens, huh?" He continued. "That must be... cool?"
Re: Brad/Liz
"Yeah, I know, it's weird, right?" She meant about her being from the past. Most people her age gave the same sort of response when she told them.
"It's kind of cool." She nodded. "Sometimes it's a little scary, but they're my friends and they're just like any other teenager... just, you know, with some extra powers." She gave a bit of a shrug, the offered a smile.
"What's home like for you?"
Re: Brad/Liz
"Cold." He said, trying to make a joke. Ugh, lame. "... It's okay."
Bradley shrugged.
"It's a suburb of Toronto? That's in Canada." He explained. "It's kind of boring most of the time... and we don't have aliens or magic or elves or anything else this place has."
At least not that I know of.
Re: Brad/Liz
"Someone else is from Toronto here... Bo. And I think Dyson too." Since they came from the same world and knew each other, Liz could only guess though. "Roswell's a small place, too... but, you know, I didn't realize there were aliens until last year and.. I kind of miss normal sometimes."
Re: Brad/Liz
"I guess it's kind of hard to be normal here, too." He said. "I thought I hated boring, but you're right.. being here, I miss it a lot."
I miss my family.
"We were going to move to London soon, actually." Brad said, then looked like he regretted saying so. "But I guess I'm here now."
A beat.
"I'm glad there are other teenagers here, like you." He continued. "Makes things feel a little more..."
He shrugged to complete his sentence.
Re: Brad/Liz
Liz nodded. "I know." She definitely did. "It's, um. It's gotten better since I got here. There are more people our age around, which is nice. Sometimes we do things." Sometimes Liz organized things because she had this sense of need to form friendships like she did back home. She wasn't sure how well it was working.
"We had a beach party... I'm thinking of organizing something else, but I don't really know what." She looked at him. "What do they do for fun in Sudbury?"
Re: Brad/Liz
Bradley thought about his answer first.
"House parties, I guess?" He said with a shrug. "Bowling or the arcade maybe."
That's kind of lame saying it out loud
"We hang out at the mall a lot too." He continued as he rubbed the back of his neck. "There's not a whole lot to do back home."
Re: Brad/Liz
She could probably throw an equivalent of a house party here, though she wondered with the group they had if anyone would be interested, especially if it was like the kind Kyle often went to back home which was all about dancing and drinking. Miguel was too young, Mack probably too, and she was never drinking again after the episode she had last month. She didn't think Peter cared one way or the other for alcohol either. In fact, she couldn't quite picture any of them at a house party. But maybe she could do something with the video games in the library and music in the conference room. Her wheels were already turning.
"Same thing for Roswell." She smiled a little. "Most of the time we just hang out at my parent's diner. Super lame, right?"
Re: Brad/Liz
"I think it's kind of cool your parents have a restaurant. Free food and stuff." He said, smiling. "Do you work there too?"
Re: Brad/Liz
"Yeah." She smiled. "And now I work at the restaurant here as a server." Liz looked a little sheepish. At least she didn't have to wear her uniform? Though Peter liked the uniform, she knew that.
"Have you, um.... how's your room?"
Re: Brad/Liz
Bradley was starting to notice Liz often second-guessed herself.
"It's okay." He answered. "I mean, it's the weirdest hotel room I've ever stayed in, but I've heard it's not as over-the-top as a lot of other rooms so I'm thankful for that. What's yours like?"
Re: Brad/Liz
"My room?" She thought about it for a minute. "I think it's supposed to be for like, a couple on a honeymoon or something." She definitely got the 'romantic' vibe from it. "But it's not super bright or over the top, which is nice." And she wasn't blinded when she woke up every morning.
She sighed as she closed the last cupboard. "I don't think it's in here..."
Re: Brad/Liz
Brad felt bad for Liz. He didn't have a diary, but he knew it had personal things in it and that other people reading it would be like people reading his text messages.
"It'll show up." He said encouragingly. "Everyone keeps telling me how people here are nice, so it has to, right?"
Not like home where people would definitely read it and post pictures on Instagram about it.
