[OPENING] mass visual telepathy log

[Genette has provided everyone a portion of mirror, which they're free to do whatever they want to with it BUT the idea is that they introduce themselves to the telepathy network with a video feed, showcasing their face. Otherwise, the coven might just get an endless stream of grass, sand or hut wall.

If you're willing to commit to the exercise, here is your intro log for doing so! Hold up the mirror piece, introduce yourself and receive a broadcast from your fellow mages.

[enter a pink-haired girl staring into the mirror quizzically, maybe even turning it around in her hands once or twice.]

Ah — hello! My name's Madoka. [... ... ...]

[she laughs a bit sheepishly.]

I'm not really sure what to say; there's not really anything interesting about me ... but it's nice to meet you all.

That's your introduction? "I'm not interesting?"

[When the dog's face appears in the mirror looking back at her, he's putting on his best attempt at an encouraging grin.]

C'mon, I'm sure there's somethin' you can say for yourself!

[oh no you've put her on the spot! Madoka quite nearly flails a little, trying to think of something, and also because talking dog. (you'd think she'd be used to talking creatures, considering ... whatever exactly Bebe is.)]

Uh — well, I'm pretty okay at drawing, I guess! And I can run pretty fast. [A for effort, Madoka.]

There! That's a better intro. [A for effort's still an A, right?]

Hey, here's something else interesting- what magic didja get?

I haven't really had a chance to practice it yet, but I can heal!

Not too far off from that; still tryin' to figure out exactly how it works, but I don't really get tired and my scrapes and bruises heal a li'l faster.

I had to practice plenty with the boars in the woods. Hope they didn't give you the same kinda trouble they gave me...

No, thankfully. I didn't really want to face them, so I just tried to stay out of the way.

[He's busy looking into the mirror, too, and there's a moment's pause as he thinks about what she says.]

It's nice to meet you, too, Madoka. My name's John. But I do not think that last part is true though. About there being nothing interesting, I mean.

[so Madoka's face pretty much matches her hair ribbons right now; that was really sweet of John to say.]

Well, I mean — I guess my magic is pretty interesting.

[Yeah sometimes that just happens, and while he notices the embarrassment he can't think of why that might be? She seems nice, if modest, so he's actually fairly intrigued here.]

See? That's something. [There's a grin into the mirror and he's shifting a little. It's evident by looking at his surroundings that he's outside on the sand somewhere.] You arrived with new powers, too, right? What's your magic?

[sob Madoka doesn't usually get compliments from outside her friends and family (too busy magical girling to socialize much), much less from cute boys!]

[but something about John's grin is rather contagious, and she settles, offering a smile of her own.]

I did. It's not what I'm used to back home, but I can heal people a bit now.

What about you?

[Perfect. This is exactly how he was hoping things would go. John likes when people are on the same level he is and her echoing smile is reassuring that this conversation's going in the right direction.]

A healer, huh? That...is very sweet. [And way more useful than his own powers? His power is fun and silly and it suits him just fine, but knowing what he knows now a healer is a good person to know just in case.] I can fuse things together now, which I could sort of do back home with a machine but now I don't need the machine. But it also is not what I'm used to back home. Those powers are missing.

I still need more practice before I'm really good at healing, though ... so please make sure you stay safe, okay?

[and she stops for a few seconds, trying to picture how fusing magic might work in her head. peanut butter chocolate? jam that is part of the toast instead of on the toast? wait why do all of the examples she came up with involve food.]

I bet that's really useful! What have you tried fusing so far?

Well, I'm not really picky! I'll eat pretty much anything as long as it tastes good — but I would say my favorite is cream stew.

What's yours?

I'm not picky either, but let's see... Malasadas are really good! And tapu cocoa. Wait, do drinks count?

Yes! My dad makes really good hot cocoa; it's one of my very favorites.

[hopefully the pang of homesickness in her tone and in her face isn't too obvious; Madoka's trying her best to work through it.]

What's a malasada?

They look kind of like donuts without holes. Sometimes they're filled with stuff, too. It's really popular in Alola. [She wishes she could eat some malasadas right now...]

That does sound really good ...

Maybe soon we'll find the ingredients, and we could try making them here.

[bonding over food is probably the best thing that could happen to Madoka in this world right now, to be honest.]

[Have a blurryish picture of a boy with a lot of hair. The picture is sharper in certain areas, around his eyes and something red that intrudes into the picture every once in a while as he readjusts his grip.]

Madoka. This is Lenka. [said oddly briskly as though they're resuming a prior conversation; then there's a pause where he just stares at the mirror and looks a little sheepish] ... I don't know either. What to say.

[There's just way too much else going on. It's more that he doesn't know where to start.]

[maybe her silence at first is a dead giveaway that she's trying to figure out what the source of that red is. but she catches herself, and offers a friendly smile.]

It's nice to meet you, Lenka-san. Maybe ... we could start by talking about magic? What is yours like?

[He's not at all good or practiced at this, so catching someone's line of sight across a telepathic connection and two pieces of mirror is a bit beyond him. He does catch the smile, though, and gives a friendly nod (however a nod is friendly) in return.]

Yes. Nice to meet you. [he stumbles to a stop for a moment, but it's not because he doesn't want to answer the question, more...] I-- can make refrigerators magically appear, I guess.

[That sounds really stupid when he says it like that, actually. What kind of magic even is this.]

[Madoka has so many questions. how? why? how many fridges has he summoned so far? how big are they?]

[ ... but first things first:]

Is there anything in the refrigerators you summon?

[It's okay, Madoka, however many questions you have he probably has even more. Mountains of questions. Valleys of questions. They could make a whole other island with their combined misgivings here.

Lenka gives this question some serious thought, because he's definitely summoned a number of refrigerators but hasn't had the time to check all of them. Still!]

Food. Condiments.

[So, the usual.]

Hairbrushes, books... [wait] Pens, paper. I think I remember a stuffed animal.

[What the hell are people keeping in these fridges.]

[............. Madoka's going to need a minute.]

[but then, she breaks into one of the biggest smiles she's worn since arriving here — and she truly, genuinely means it when she says:]

That's the best magic power I've heard of yet! Um ... Do you think, if you find another stuffed animal, you would toss it my way?
