the punch has been spiked, the music is whatever they could scrape together, and there’s bleachers to make out behind. takes place OUTSIDE in the forum so there's plenty of space and people can easily crash it.

prom king is optimus prime, prom queen is pipes.

Pipes could not be happier. Having a prom was one thing, being one of the prom monarchs was another! He never thought he was that popular.

Regardless, he doesn't make a big show of entering with Mayday, just decides instead to mill around, autograph anything anyone wants (no-one will want that) and say hi to people he hasn't met already.

If you're a wallflower, he'll be targeting you especially. Socialise, you giant shitbabies.

Mayday hovers around Pipes like a particularly wobbly moon around its planet, doing his best to go unnoticed by everybody while not being forgotten by his date and left behind. He is simultaneously stressed-the-heck-out and beside himself with glee because Pipes asked him to prom.

He even shined himself up to a mirror-like gleam instead of just cleaning himself sterile!

Pipes makes sure to not leave Mayday behind, even if he does go to chat with other people. If Mayday didn't follow, he assumed he just needed a few minutes to recover from the situation. It's fair enough, not everyone likes parties.

Not long after they arrive, Pipes pulls him aside.

"Everything alright? There's so many people here I haven't seen before!"

"I'm okay," Mayday says, giving Pipes a grin that's only slightly wobbly.

"There's, wow, yeah. There's a lot of people. It's very, um-" He waves his hands around as if that explains everything. "But it's- I mean I'm- You know, it's not-!"

He takes a deep vent then gives Pipes his brightest smile. "You're here."

And that makes everything okay.

Pipes faceplate goes positively pink at that comment. Gosh. Gosh!!

"I--" he covers his face. Oh god this is too much. "Y-you too!"

Mayday's own cheeks start to glow, and he's not sure what to say! So instead of saying anything he just slowly sidles closer to Pipes until their shoulders touch.

And then everyone in the party died from acute weenie poisoning.

RIP everyone they will be missed except perhaps Tarn and Pharma.

He enjoys it, leans into it and slides his arm around Mayday's own shoulder.

Then his over-big crown loses its balance and decides to slide forward lodge itself over his optics.

Mayday places his hand on his face shield over his mouth as a snort and giggle escape him. It does nothing to muffle the sound and in apology he gently nudges the crown back into place

He's gonna do it. MAYBE THIS WAS HIS PLAN ALL ALONG (it wasn't)

When Mayday gets close to nudge the crown Pipes takes it as an opportunity... to bomp his faceplate into Mayday's visor.

He does what he can without a mouth, alright.

Mayday's head promptly catches on fire. Okay, not really, but his face is blazing bright enough to see in the dark now.

Oh gosh, did Pipes do that on purpose? Was that a kiss? What does he do! He feels lightheaded and his fuel tanks are fluttering and his spark feels funny, he might be dying.

"Squeak?"

Laughing, Pipes slides his arm back over Mayday's shoulders, then nods.

"Squeak."

Mayday is deeply flustered! And happy. He's pretty sure he's very happy. But also extremely flustered.

He opens and closes his mouth several times, aborting trying to say anything when he's pretty sure he's just going to squeak.

Finally he asks, hesitantly, "Are we dating?"

"Well," he says, "I did ask you out on a date. Then we came to prom together."

It was all a ruse, he actually whispered 'no homo' before all this.

"I-I know that! But- but-" He gives Pipes big sparkly puppy eyes, twiddling his fingers nervously. "Are we dating?"

Say the thing, Pipes. Say it for certain!

He nods happily.

"Yes."

There is a shrill noise in the air, not unlike a dog whistle or a boiling kettle. It's coming from Mayday.

He's at an overly excited loss of words but that doesn't stop him from throwing himself at Pipes and wrapping his arms around him.

Pipes was not prepared for a such a forceful hug and stumbles backwards slightly, but manages to grab Mayday back and not fall over.

He bomps his faceplate against Mayday's visor again, "You're happy about that, I take it?"

Wow, he can't stop blushing! Mayday tentatively bomps Pipes back, loosening his noodle-like grip.

"Y-yeah! I've never- I, um, I've never dated anybody before "

"Me neither."

A pause.

"I... have no idea what I'm doing. I think we're doing it right though."

Mayday gives a giggle, more giddy than nervous for once, resting his forehead against Pipes's.

"It feels pretty right."

"I have to say the same. Shot the dark hit the target, right!"

He cups Maydays face lightly. This gay is reaching critical mass.

Mayday makes a little noise that is the vocal equivalent of his knees going weak.

Before things get sweet enough to choke everyone at the party, the moment is interrupted by the night's burgeoning cat fight.

"Um," he says, turning to stare at First Aid and Tarn.

It catches Pipe's attention slightly later than Mayday's and he looks up, still holding Mayday's face.

"I... hm. Well."

Awkwaaaard.

Mayday looks progressively more horrified with each passing second, before he finally squeaks.

"Um, maybe we should- maybe I should- oh, hey! There sure is somewhere else I'd like to be right now!"

Run away and hide with him, Pipes. It's the only way to deal with conflict.

"We can go back to your place if you'd like."

Not in a SEXY WAY in a 'wow let's not be around these GIANT MOTHERFUCKERS ABOUT TO CATFIGHT'
