This was going to be a long night.
Option 1:
You can find him chaperoning against the wall, making sure that everything is going at least somewhat peacefully--people are having fun, dances are being had. Things like that. Optimus dancing, though? That's asking far too much from the Autobot leader. Not only does he openly claim he has two left feet...
But maybe he just doesn't know how.
Probably a bit of both.
Option 2:
He's standing outside to get some fresh air (you don't breathe, dingus) from all the bustle.
What a party animal.
2
"You okay?"
Because, yes, that is the first thing he's going to ask.
no subject
"I just needed some time to myself, is all. It's loud in there."
But he won't say no to Ironhide joining him, as he pats the spot on the wall beside him.
no subject
"Yeah, can't argue that one."
He leans right up next to him, shoulder-to-side.
"Sure you're okay though? Generally speakin'."
no subject
He feels the touch of that shoulder, though, systems immediately relaxing at it. "As good as can be expected. This place is confusing, and I think I need to head out to the outskirts again to talk to the planet."

He's slung an arm around Optimus before thinking about it, starting to drag him out onto the dance floor.
"Okay, but, hear me out. You and me. Like old times. One dance. I've got two right feet, you've got two left, we win. I'll hold your hands and everything."
At least he seems a lot more upbeat than before.
no subject
"I--Roller. When did we ever dance."
Not that he's objecting--although that's another conversation entirely, but this is so new. "You're intoxicated." That's got to be the reason, isn't it? You know he can't dance, buddy.
Although...he doesn't want to spoil Roller's bad mood either.
no subject
But that doesn't seem to bother him. He's practically twirling Pax/Prime around in his grip, grinning down at him. Yes, yes he sure is intoxicated. But he also thinks this is a wonderful idea. Maybe they're undercover. Yeah, that sounds plausible.
He actually laughs, twirling Optimus, before pulling him back in. Up close. And personal.
"Yep! Pretty sure I am. That's like, a first, right? Someone here's got something with a kick. Or something. Right? Maybe? I don't know."
no subject
Completely taken by surprise and off guard.
"I'm surprised, yeah. Especially so soon into the part--Brainstorm."
Yeah, he knows who's at fault for this. Only he would make something THAT potent.

"Optimus Prime," he greets. After an appropriate amount of silence, he asks, " Have you had any further contact with the planet?"
no subject
"Cyclonus."
A soft greeting, before he continues, to answer the question. "Not recently. Although I've been hoping to make another journey out there once things settle down."
no subject
Because Cyclonus is here and Optimus is here and honestly, talking to Cybertron seems a whole lot more important than chaperone this ridiculous bunch of adult children. Of which Cyclonus is totally not one of. Never mind that he can't even express his feelings without getting angry.
no subject
Honestly, he has no plans for after the party, and since Cyclonus is willing, it's best to get it over and done with. "I hope you're at the very least enjoying yourself. If only a little."
BECAUSE THERE'S ONLY ROOM FOR ONE BROODY BRUCE.

one.
"Optimus. Would you do me the honor?" And a gesture, out at the dance floor. Where everyone is in various stages of making fools out of themselves. It looks like a fun time, and Shockwave's not about to ruin it.
no subject
Familiar, yet not so familiar.
"Uh."
When he sees the gesture, his gaze turns to the dance floor, then back to Shockwave, eyes slowly widening in slight panic. "I...can't dance." As if he had to put that disclaimer up immediately to not make Shockwave assume any less.
no subject
He grins again. "And, from the look of things, I doubt you'll be the only one."
You're not getting away from him this time.
no subject
His ears flick gently, turning to face the Senator as they make their way onto the dance floor, casting a soft glance to the others.
"If it's acceptable to you, then alright."
Because he doesn't really care about everyone else--it's Shockwave he doesn't want to disappoint.

For the first time in the evening, trying not to show any obvious hesitation, he wanders over to Optimus a bit awkwardly, gesturing to his ear. Or just... up, generally.
"Maybe we should swap."
no subject
His eyes follow the bot's finger, then up to his ear, where he somewhat sheepishly starts to remove it. Maybe...that was a better idea, honestly. Taking it off, he leans over, holding it out to him.
"I think it would definitely fit you better, Pipes. You seem to be...struggling with that one."
...
"Congratulations on Prom Queen."
no subject
"Oh!" he squeaks, before shaking his head and taking it off. "Thank you!"
"For, uh. Both! I didn't expect it at all!"
no subject
...Before putting it right back on that ear. Well--at least Pipes has a nice crown now.
"Can't say it's undeserved."
Aw lookit you, Optimus, you're proud of that little booger.

It's quieter out aways from the forum, and June's tiny shoes crunch on the gravel as she comes to stand next to Optimus, holding a little cup of Miranda's space vodka. "You know, the Optimus I knew was never much of a party person, either."
no subject
Just...don't ask.
But the company is welcome, especially from June. "Seems like I have more in common with him the more we talk." He speaks humourously, eyes flicking a shade brighter at her. "Although I can't say much for my skills in this area. I never know what to say for conversation."
no subject
As if that were enough. After all, Optimus always been a symbol, a monolith.
"But you're a little different, too," June goes on, her eyes lighting up. "The more I talk to you, the more I see it. I like it."
no subject
Way to completely put a dent in that theory, Optimus. He could take some social cues, sure, but he would never imagine that he was an expert at small talk. Although the way she treats it as a compliment is...endearing. June had that way about her. She was sincere, and Optimus could certainly appreciate it. Had he'd met her in his world...maybe things would have gone differently.
Which makes him wonder if she is there. Just...not as aware of the Cybertronian species.
"...Your company's been a pleasure to have as well, June. I think you give me a little more credit than I deserve in the small talk area, but it certainly doesn't seem to be a problem around you." Funnily enough. Then again, his conversations with Spike were just as casual. ...Although he shouldn't be making that comparison. Because there was none.
"Have you been faring well here?"
