Since everyone else kinda looks like they're asking if their friends are here, guess I should too.

[ that's the important part here. everything else? just a day in the life... sort of. ]

Or maybe someone's seen 'em? Riku is kinda tall with green eyes and shorter silver hair. Kairi wears pink, has kinda hair, and purple-ish eyes. [ pause ] Well Axel has red hair too, really. But he's super tall and skinny.

[ or he's just short, but. Sora hums, then just decides to go for it. ]

I dunno really how to describe the others, but I'm looking for Mickey, Donald, and Goofy too.

But yeah. That's all I can think of...

[Well, leave it to Axel to sleep in when something important is going on. When he picks up his communicator to take a look, though, what he hears is... rather surprising to say the least. his response is video, because he's really gotta see this and make sure he's not mistaken...]

Not too long ago? I woke up and listed to the Acolyte tell me a few things. Read a few things here and figured I'd just say hello and look for you guys.

[Axel nods a bit, though he's still kinda confused.]

Nobody else here from our world except me and Ventus as far as I know, but there's really no telling who might show up, honestly. Though with Ven... there's a pretty big chunk of time separating him and us, thanks to this world's particular brand of weirdness.

[Pause]

I gotta ask though... why were you looking for me? Cause last time I remember seeing you, I was kinda in the middle of fading away...

[Which would make looking for him rather pointless. Unless there's something he's missing...?]

[ so what does that mean exactly and why is that the last thing Axel remembers...? ]

Um... Because from what I understand you kind of helped save me from being put to sleep for, like, ever?

[ how do you not know this? ]

[Axel sighs.]

OK, short version is this. Ventus has been here about a year, and he remembers meeting me at Radiant Garden less than a day before he arrived here. But for me, back home? That day was about 12 years ago. This place seems to be able to not just yank people from any world... but any time too, and throw them all together here and now.

[Pause.]

...And given that I have no clue what you're talking about, I'm guessing that it did it again.

[Look a little closer, Sora, and you might get a hint. Namely the fact that the facial markings are still present, indicating that this is Axel you're talking to, not Lea.]

[ this is Sora. like he's gonna notice tiny details like that. but he gets it anyway. ]

Time stuff. Been dealing with that a bit lately. But it doesn't really matter. I know you're not really a bad person and I think you already know that if I think of someone as a friend, then all that detail stuff doesn't really matter.

[True enough.

Axel kind of just... blinks in surprise at that, but then shakes his head and seems to relax a bit.]

But since I'm clearly not up to speed on what's going on back home, mind filling me in? Like, for example, how could I have saved you when the last thing I remember I was fading out of existence? I mean... that's usually a pretty permanent thing.

[ how can he refuse that? ]

Well! First of all, Xemnas lied. The thing he was making? The Kingdom Hearts? That wasn't gonna give you what you wanted.

But do you know what happens when a Nobody and its Heartless are destroyed? The person comes back. Heart and all.

Hmph... Xemnas lying. Now there's a shock.

[So much sarcasm you have no idea.]

Always figured he had his own agenda that the rest of us weren't in on, but we never did figure out what it was.

[Axel might have continued, if not for what Sora said next. That statement suddenly has his full attention.]

So wait, you're saying... I'm a person again? Like... really Lea again?

[ they can talk about that nasty Organization thing later. the heart thing is the more important topic. ]

Yeah, like really Lea again. But you would have been even if you hadn't disappeared anyway. Remember when you said that Roxas made you feel like you had a heart? That's because you were already starting to get one back.

[Darn right the heart thing is more important. Though at this point Axel's starting to wonder if his face will be permanently stuck in a surprised expression after today.]

I was? I mean... I am? Seriously?!

[As far as he knows that's simply not possible, but...]

That... actually makes a lot of things make more sense...

[Pause]

How? And... was it just me who this was happening to, or...?

[ see Sora? he's practically beaming. HE'S HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS, OKOK. ]

Yeah, seriously. When I confronted Xemnas about it, he admitted it. It wasn't just you, either. I guess there were a few of you guys who didn't turn out like he wanted.

[You might not be so happy, Sora, if you knew how pissed Axel is going to be once this all has time to sink in and he realizes that he basically spent almost half his life being played for a chump.

But right now? He hasn't made it past stupified astonishment. He sits down suddenly on his bed. This is a lot to take in, even without a fully developed heart to feel its effects.]

OK... I just... man, you die for a little while and they go and change all the rules on ya...

[Axel chuckles.]

Or... well, I guess those were always the rules, but I just didn't know it. Damn...

I'm... guessing Roxas was another one who didn't turn out as planned, right...?

No one did, except maybe Xemnas and Xigbar.

[ those are the only guys he's really encountered lately. ]

But Roxas definitely wasn't working out. I don't really know much about what happened but... I know that Roxas definitely had a heart. I could feel it. Everything.

[This makes Axel wonder about Siax, but he doesn't voice it just yet.]

Hmph... figures. Xigbar always was an ass.

And yeah, Roxas was pretty much the biggest spanner in the works the Organization ever had. And... I think I kinda figured that out in the end. That he had a heart, I mean. Even if I didn't really know what it meant at the time.

Heh... It's still hard to believe, though. That I actually do have a heart. Or the beginnings of one, anyway. And you know, it's probably thanks to you?

Hm. I wouldn't thank me. I'm pretty sure you should thank Roxas for that. Come to think of it, I still don't know you that well.

It's kind of a good thing you're sitting down though. I've got another big one for you.

Most of it, yeah, but I think being around you might've kickstarted it, back in Castle Oblivion. ...Which you probably don't remember. Eh, never mind. I'll explain later.

[And that announcement gets a pair of raised eyebrows from him, because dude, seriously? There's more?]

Lay it on me then. May as well get all the surprises out of the way in one go.

[ Castle Oblivion... Axel what are you saying... ]

Uh. Well you traveled to see Yen Sid to learn how to use a Keyblade.

Which you did learn. It looks pretty cool if you ask me.

[Long story bro; very long story. Much of which involves Axel being a major dick. But as he said, later.

Then there's that shocked expression again because WUT.]

A keyblade? Me? Seriously? ...Just how desperate is whatever force hands them out?

[Because despite Sora's assurances, Axel knew that he hadn't been a good guy for quite awhile. There had to be better candidates out there to be a keyblade wielder than him.]

[ yeah hold onto that thought. Seeing Axel's face like that can only bring about one thing! And that is Sora breaking out in peals of laughter. ]

Riku and I had that same look on out face!

[OK, Axel can't help it. He starts laughing too, though not nearly as uproariously as Sora.]

Well, gee, thanks for the vote of confidence. First Ven names a chicken after me, and now this.

Hey, it's not that I don't believe in you. It was just surprising!

[ and when his giggles subside, he kid squints. Like he's giving Axel a once over. ]
