[Two years. Two years in this castle and it does THIS to her? Happy fucking anniversary, Nora, have some wings. Oh and by the way you're now FOUR FUCKING INCHES TALL and glow like Rudolph's nose when you fly around.

Yep. This year's out to a fantastic start.

She would have been perfectly happy to sit in her room and sulk until this was over but NO. Thanks to her new diminutive size and ineptitude at flying she ended up accidentally shut out of her own room by her boyfriend. Since sitting on the doorknob and sulking was lame (and cold) she decided that she might as well try to learn how to be less of a failure at flying since she had no idea how long she'd be stuck like this. That being decided she takes off, rolling her eyes only slightly at the red glow that surrounds her as she flies.

So the good news is she's getting better at flying. The bad news is she's still working on, uh, stopping. She turns a corner and realizes too late she's flying straight at someone. Wat do?!]

[Giotto isn't particularly paying attention to his surroundings, because he is in a hallway in the castle, but that is what he has Hyper Intuition for. He senses something, and acts before he even thinks, raising his hand up to catch the little red...streak...?

He blinks and turns his hand so his palm is flat, and realizes it is actually a fairy.]

Ah... are you quite all right?

[She shakes her head, pushing her hair out of her face.]

Uh, yeah. I'm still kind of getting the hold of this flying thing.

I assume that you aren't always a fairy, then? [Is this a loss?]

No... only for the past few days.

Mm, a loss, then. [He nods and then gives her a small smile.] Well, I am glad you did not hurt yourself. Especially by running into me.

Yeah. I mean I'm not that tall but this is just ridiculous.

[she laughs, nodding]

Me, too. Of course I've been running into a lot of things today...

That happens when you learn how to fly. [A wry, slightly self-mocking smile.] I know from experience.

[She cocks her head at him]

You know... normally I'd call bullshit but I know a guy who can fly even though he doesn't look like it.

[A laugh at that.] Yes, I assure you, I can actually fly.

[And since he's told her that...] I am Giotto. It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss...?

Diniro. Nora Diniro. [She smiles] Do you have wings? Or do you just, like, hover or whatever?

[He shakes his head.] No wings. Hovering is a good as word for it as any. I use flames from my hands propel myself, if that makes any sense to you.

[He knows it's strange.]

Seriously? That's badass!! But doesn't it, like, light the ground and shit on fire?

[A curious headtilt at the slang but he can figure out what she means by it. That makes him flush at the compliment.] It's ah...not hot enough normally. Though I can make the flames hotter and burn things.

Okay I think I get it. So those flames of yours work like a jet engine or something to make you move but they're not hot unless you want them to?

Yes, exactly that. [A pause.] Though I am not entirely sure what a jet engine is.

A jet engine? It's like these huge engines used on jet planes to get them off the ground and so they can fly as fast as they do.

[A blink at that explanation, and then a sigh.] ...I know this will sound strange, but what is a jet plane?

Oooh you must be like from a time before planes... or from another world or something.

Jet planes are like big ships that can fly. The big ones can carry a couple hundred people or something.

A time before planes, yes. I am from the 1850's on Earth. Italy, to be exact.

I imagine that one gets there considerably faster than on a ship.

Holy shit you're from like a hundred and fifty years before me! I'm from the year 1990.

And yeah, like you can fly across the ocean in hours instead of like weeks or months or whatever it takes a ship,

[A laugh.] Not the farthest I've met, but close.

Sounds much more convenient than a carriage or a ship. I travel quite a bit.

No, there are lots of people who are from a hell of a lot further in the future than I am.

[She laughs]

Yeah, they're pretty cool. I haven't really traveled at all. I've always wanted to, though.

The furthest I've met is 2012.

I've traveled around Europe and to Japan.

[She smiles]

I was friends with someone who could travel through time and space. He could travel ridiculously far into the future.

[A wondering smile. Someone who could do that...well, he didn't actually doubt it.]

He must have had so many stories to tell.
