[Video] A bargain struck...
[Life has been fairly amenable to the Chosen, particularly since her return. Her alter-ego in the other timeline had done exactly as she'd have done: tricked some poor merchant into her service. So, set up with all the proper comforts she could find in this world, she's turned her brilliant and wicked mind to the acquisition of power and control. A bargain with Elissa Cousland had given her just the information she'd needed. A hook, as it where. So, with that air of false modesty she's put on before, she addresses the ships network.]
For those of you who have not met me yet, I am called Selene. For those that have, greetings to you.
I am a scholar of some note where I come from, and it has come to my attention that some of you have had trouble with mental domination through dark powers. Other people have influenced your minds and used you to weaken our collective standings. Moreover, I'm given to understand that there were murders due to this outside influence.
At the request of one victim of said sorcery, I have begun to craft ter'angreal, small objects of power, to shield the mind. A fairly common thing in my home, that. I'm willing to provide them to anyone who feels such protection is necessary. After all, we do not want a repeat of the last set of incidents. I'm told they were...unfortunate.
Feel free to contact me, and I will be happy to work with you on this.
(ooc: action spam is also Okay!)

Oh, is that how humans manage sorcery? I hadn't heard before.
[He sounds sincerely interested. This was, after all, his idea to a degree. But there's a little note of disdain. He still doesn't like groundling magics.]
No. This is how people who lack the...gift...use the magic of others.

[At home, magical objects needed a mentor's touch to activate or invigorate. He didn't mean anything by the wheedling questions, just wanted clarification.]

[He knows the rate for mentor births, but how often the other races produce sorcerers is beyond him. And as much as he doesn't really like that sort of magic, it might be important to know.]
no subject
[Airy, dismissive, and cold, she looks at the camera.]
Now, it's my turn for a question. Who and what are you?
no subject
Chime. I'm a warrior caste aeriat raksura of the Indigo Cloud Court of the Reaches, under Reigning Queen Pearl, Sister Queen Jade, Consorts Ember and Moon, and Line Grandfather Stone.
[So he can be arch and imperious, too. He's not pushing it too far, by his estimation; he hasn't started reciting anyone's lineage.]
no subject
[She repeats his name with the same hint of disdain he'd given her. Pleasant is not how she'd answer such a thing, and she's restraining her temper even now.]
Do you require a ter'angreal? Or do your people have their own ways of shielding the mind?
no subject
[His frills are up a little, but humans usually don't know how to read agitated irritation that way.]
no subject
no subject
I can do that. Where do I find you? Do you have a workshop ready?
[Sorcery seems to require more bits or things than mentor magic, as a rule.]
no subject
[All she needs is a bit of stone and a few hours, anyway.]
no subject
[There's a lot of abrupt shifting as he rights himself--he was resting upside-down to make the call--and then hops down, half-spreading his wings for balance as he pulls the camera back to capture a bit of park.]
no subject
Good day, Chime.
no subject
Hello. ...I don't know that this'll be a very quiet place to work.
[He looks around in mild concern. It is, after all, a park]
no subject
[She gestures, indicating he should come closer.]
All I need do is touch your hand for a moment. Delving is simple and will take no more than a moment. I just need to get a sense of what I am building the shielding weave around.
no subject
Does physical shape matter here? Because I have two of those.
no subject
[She brushes that off with a shrug. It's not a big deal, not really. She's more Delving the mind, after all.]
no subject
[Something that would only be useful in one form, after all, probably wouldn't actually help. Since he's going to be sitting here a while, he decides to shift. It's a bit more comfortable to be on the ground in this form. He's briefly shrouded in mist and a shorter, almost human young man takes his place, a little reptilian around the eyes, too toothy, oddly dark-skinned for his fluffy light hair, but almost ordinary, if tall. As far as he's concerned, he gave her plenty of warning.]
no subject
Holding out her hands, palms up she nods.]
Take my hands, and we'll begin.
no subject
What do I need to do?
no subject
[And then Lanfear begins. Embracing Saidar and weaving flows of Spirit, Air, and Water throughout Chime's form. There's no visible energy, not to anyone not attuned to the female half of the Source but there's a definite chill to the weave. If Chime's species is capable of feeling cold, anyway.
Up and down she weaves, not moving or blinking. A Delving, probing the body and the mind and committing it to memory. She really does intend to craft a ter'angreal to shield his mind, after all. Just...not one that can block her own spells, of course. And unlike that unwitting buffoon Elissa, she doesn't leave a hook for her spells. If Chime's a being of magic as she suspects then it's possible he'd discover it, and that's not a chance she'll be willing to take.
After several moments of silence, she opens her eyes and takes a step back with a half smile.]
And the Delving is finished. I think I can craft your shield now.
no subject
Oof. Lucky that didn't take very long.
[Mentor magic is much less uncomfortable.]
no subject
Was that painful or discomforting somehow?
no subject
[And he remains a bit unhappy about groundling sorcery being worked on him, but that's beside the point.]
