[video] Friday, Week 23

[Bruce is sitting at the table in his house, which looks like this, and making himself a list of things he needs to do in the next few days. His glasses don't do much to hide the fact that he hasn't slept in a couple of weeks, save for a few times his body forced him to nap.]

For those who haven't met me, I'm Dr. Bruce Banner. Before the plague hit, I was working with a team of scientists to figure out how the pods functioned. Now I'd like to focus on increasing the ship's power supply, but I'm not sure who is still around to help, or if anyone else is interested.

I would also like to know if anyone would be interested in attending lectures on various topics relevant to some of the problems that we face here. Things like basic engineering, first aid, hydroponic gardening, chemical analysis, and really anything else you can think of that would be useful. The lectures would be aimed at those who haven't had much previous education in these areas.

I don't have a location or specific times planned out yet, I'm just gauging the level of interest at the moment.

[This part is delivered far more awkwardly.] I need to go away for a few days. Up in the mountains, I think, where I won't be able to hurt anyone. Company is probably a bad idea, but I thought you all should know where I'm going, at least.

Those pods look like something the scientists back home would make; I have even seen some with a similar design. Unfortunately I only know how to shut things like that down. But they ran on electricity or nuclear energy, I think.

[Of course, by that point the physics in the Zone had already gone massively off-kilter.]

You mentioned a course in basic engineering, though? This seems like it would be good to attend... if you promise not to use terms too far over my head. Have you considered having someone do a lecture on firearm safety or hand-to-hand combat, or is everyone here prepared for that already?

They were cylinders of glass and metal, with tubing connecting parts. I am not certain how they opened, as they may have... exploded before I could examine them. But I could probably draw one, if you like.

[He is not going to admit the explosion was entirely his fault and that's what happens when you shoot technology you don't understand.]

It would be good for people to at least know how to defend themselves, yes. This place reminds me of the Zone, which was extremely dangerous to travel in without a weapon or two.

They kept the people in them alive, and I think connected them to a... a shared brain, I think is the term. They called themselves C-Consciousness.

[And they were a pain in his ass.]

That is good. This does not seem like a place for tourists. At least, tourists without help. I am glad that there are so many that can deal with the strange.

I wouldn't know, myself. I try to stay out of strange pods; it seems like the best idea in most cases. [As far as he's concerned, anyway; the ones he's seen before didn't look comfortable and the ones on the ship remind him disturbingly of coffins.]

That is good. Though, it would help if everyone knew how to defend themselves a little. Even if they have friends that can protect them, they may not always be present to help them. [Which is something that he knows quite well.]
