[This is posted from Kaidan's communicator, not that she makes it obvious. Hers is still somewhere in the dome. She has yet to requisition a new one.]

I'm alive.

[And she has answers. But she's not sure how much to say on the network. How much the Authorities don't already know she knows. So she'll tell them how to find her, and hope they think to ask their questions in person instead.]

Hospital, south wing, and if Alenko's got any say in it, I'll be here for a while longer.

Telepaths, psychics, or whatever the hell you want to call the people that crawl into your head... You're going to want to see this. [Yes, that is a free pass into her skull. No, don't get used to it.]

[There's no sneaking necessary for the professor that evening. He's one of the ones who put her here, after all, and the others are quite aware he's not likely to let her go wandering on her own. His own assurances at their doubtful looks help a lot, too. But he supposes she'll want to know about Major Alenko, and he wants to get another look at this special collar of hers.

So the nearest attendant unlocks the door for him, and he knocks politely. Even offers a slightly sheepish smile when he's let in.]

Good evening, Commander Shepard.

[By reflex, her first look is something akin to a mutinous glare, but that clears up quickly to something more neutral. He may have put her here, but he did it with entirely good intentions, frustrating as that may be.]

Lyall.

[A casual enough greeting, at least.]

[For a beat, Lyall is surprised by the glare, but then he remembers how much of a fuss she put up about coming here, and his blank look turns into a slightly apologetic smile. Only slightly, though, because he does think being here is best for her.]

Good evening, Commander. I hope I'm not disturbing you.

[Don't mind that initial glare, she's really not too terribly upset. She's more upset with the doctors that insist on detaining her here. Shepard's had altogether too much detaining already for one week.

The way he repeats his greeting, she gets the distinct impression that he's trying to smooth over any frustration she might otherwise direct his way, so she'll bite.]

You're not. By now, it's called 'a change of scenery'. [There's a note of dry humor her tone, present but barely perceptible.]

[Oh yes, trying to smooth things over. Not the mun being a dufus and repeating herself, never that! Lyall comes further in to take the seat beside her bed.]

I imagine it is a tag monotonous in here. Has no one brought you a book or some paperwork you can look through, in here?

[Even he knows to do that much. Then again, he's had Lady Maccon laid up in Woolsey Castle, before, and he knows just how likely a lady of action is to get restless within, oh, an hour or two.]

I've got paperwork here, too? You could've picked a better time to break that one to me. [She knows you're trying, Lyall, so she'll cut you a break in the form of some dry humor.]

[He chuckles gently as he sits, looking her over surreptitiously to see how she's healing.]

I suppose not everyone is as fond of bureaucracy as I am. I would take paperwork over boredom, any day. How are you feeling?

Trapped. [It's a confession, but sounds more like a grudging complaint. Either way, it's the feeling that's occupying altogether too much of her attention, so that's what he's getting.]

I suppose the physicians don't feel you recovered enough to let you go, then?

[Lyall tone is a bit apologetic for that, but he does trust the doctors' judgement. Unless all she has left of injuries is the collar, but her hands do still look a right mess to him, at least.]

I can barely get a word out of them. [That's a lie, but not a malicious one--she can get quite a few words, all of them vague and unhelpful.

A hand lifts to grasp her collar.] It all comes down to this thing, though, I'm damn sure of it. They don't trust it. Don't trust the person stuck with it.

I wouldn't trust it, either, not when the Major tells me it's different from his.

[And a certain werewolf is very curious about just how, but he doesn't do more than crane his neck a little. Just a very little.]

We removed his this evening, by the way. Myself, Doctor T'soni, and a boy named Peter Parker. He seems in good health still.

[Yeah, okay, she's getting a little tired of the not-so-subtle scrutiny, so she's rubbing at the back of her neck above the collar a little.] C'mere. Poke at it like everyone else. Get it out of your system. [She sounds a bit aggravated, but it's not so bad. If it were, she'd tell him to piss off, not offer to let him see it.

Whether or not he takes up the offer, her tone's significantly more pleased when she says:] Glad to have it off of him. Even the low-tech ones make me nervous.

[The werewolf looks decidedly embarrassed, at that. He should never have peeked, really, but it's hard not to, when everything is so unusual and confounding.]

Pardon me. I do not mean to be rude. I doubt I will find anything that anyone else has not, already, though I must admit to the curiosity.

[He waffles for a moment more before pulling his glassicals from a pocket and perching them back on his nose. At least he doesn't have to get too close that way, right?]

[At this point, she'd rather he invade her space and get the investigation out of his system, but she won't comment on that. She just lets him observe from afar offering after a minute a casual:] If you do find something, let me know.

I can't imagine I will find anything that anyone else has not... I'm sure Doctor T'soni and the Major have both had a look?

[He does stand up for a decent angle, but he refuses to loom. As if a small man like himself was even capable of looming. Still, with a dial or two turned and the magnification up to its strongest point, he has to frown at the direct grafting. That just looks... messy.]

I suppose no one has yet tried the same removal process... it looks as if it would have to be more complicated than that.
