[ and true enough, Rosalind's in her lab when he arrives - if he looks more tired than normal, it's probably best not to say anything.
he doesn't really idle with the small talk. when he finds an empty space, there's a manila envelope that he's carrying, tucked under his arm, and seto removes the papers from the envelope, taking the top sheet and laying it on the empty surface.
it's a sketch for a Battle Box, although currently the name of it is scratched out as if redacted, and any labels and calculations on the paper have also been similarly redacted, although the drawings and all diagrams are still intact.
weird, isn't it?
he points to several kanji characters at the bottom right hand corner of the page - it's signed in his own handwriting, he would recognise his own name anywhere.
he will also let her look at the page for a moment before he says quietly: ] I know this is mine. I made this. But I have no recollection of this whatsoever.
[She leans forward, peering down at the sheet of paper. Her fingers slide over the drawings and diagrams, and the next minute or so passes silently as she drinks it in.]
Do you have any idea what it's meant to be?
[She can make a few guesses, of course, but best to ask first.]
[ At this point, he'll flick through some of the remaining papers in the envelope and pull out another page, placing it on top of the current one. There are similar redactions to the text, but the diagrams indicate a glass screen projector of some sort, and some kind of chip reader. ]
A projector system of some sort, although for the life of me I can't figure out why it would need to be in an enclosed space, if it's just a screen.
[ It's accompanied by a frown. It's clear that he's given at least some measure of thought to this possibility. ]
But for it to be immersive, the holograms would have to be solid. Or at least - why are the projectors glass? If you can see out of the box, it ruins the immersive experience, doesn't it?
[ ... he's going to make a Face at her, because what the heck, Rosalind, that was not the answer he was expecting. what exactlyare you implying about other him???? ]
Unless. [ he frowns, almost as if hesitating to bring it up, but he will retrieve a playing card out of his wallet, although he's very careful to just show her only the backing of the card. the front isn't something that he will show to just anyone. ]
Unless these cards are linked somehow. I've gotten a few... isolated memories of them.
[ he'll shrug. he's being Evasive for good reason.
also, no, he's not going to hand it over just like that???? she's going to have to pluck it out of his hands if she wants to take a closer look at the card tbh. ]
[Oh, well. She'd needed to do this anyway, and it's not as if he'll never forgive her for it.
. . . probably.
With surprising grace Rosalind's hand darts forward, her fingers slipping around the card and tugging it neatly out of his hand. She takes a step back as she does, ensuring he won't be able to snatch it back immediately, and glances down at it.]
[ ok to be fair, he's definitely not expecting her to actually reach over and pluck the card out of his hand, so he kind of... lets it happen.
when he realises what happens and sees the card in her hand, though, he's going to suddenly freeze up. ]
... Give it back.
[ he's not joking, because he's glaring at her.
because how the hell is he supposed to explain the fact that the image on the card is of him trapped behind bars? even if she can't read the Japanese characters on the top of the card, that's not the easiest thing to explain. ]
but when she offers the card back to him and he's finally holding it again (between two fingers, just because), the tension that he holds himself with definitely slips, his shoulders relaxing. ]
... It's fine. [ it should count? ] My apologies for overreacting - I don't know why, but that card is-- [ --dangerous, he wants to say, but that's. not quite true either. ] --strange. Like I'm oddly attached to it for some reason.
[ a slight pause because well. changing the topic is not the easiest thing ever. ]
If both of these items were from a past life of mine, it's not a far stretch of the imagination that they would be designed to work together?
text; backdated to 14 july
and I figured that you might be interested in seeing what it is in person.
[ it's followed by a photo, showing several blueprints and schematics. some of the data has been smudged out, but on the whole, it's still legible. ]
I'll be swinging by the campus at lunchtime, if you're free to chat for a moment to offer your opinions.

Well. I'll save my questions for when you arrive.
text -> action!

[Which is a distasteful thought at best.]
Or unless it's nothing to do with holograms and something to do with some kind of voyeurism.

[She holds out her hand in implicit instruction: hand it over.]

That's not a very detailed answer, Kaiba.

I do hope that counts as stealing an item. My apologies, Kaiba.

[After all, that might be the place to start. If they can guess at what it might mean, perhaps they can better understand how it connects to the box.]
