(no subject)

Characters: Asbel Lhant, Sophie, Richard, Valvalis and all the housemates of B-06, B-08
Where: Asbel's House
When: The Weekend~!
Summary: Asbel has promised to make Sophie's favorite meal for dinner. Crablettes and mild curry. Sophie has invited everyone in both of their households + a friend who want to attend.
Warning: Awkward derping?

With the coming of the weekend, the promise of whatever special favorite meal Asbel was going to make for Sophie also loomed in the horizon. Sophie had of course, had Tiger Festival leave a note for her housemates inviting them to come and join her for dinner with Asbel, both promising good food and wanting them to meet him. Because he's awesome, naturally.

Asbel was going to have some massive praise to live up to, and Sophie hadn't even known him a month yet! Of course she also asked Tiger Festival to deliver a note to Valvalis and let her know they were going to get together for dinner that evening, and also where. Naturally Sophie was there well in advance, because they had to get ingredients and things, but she'd be happy to meet people arriving, or help Asbel out with everything else. She was practically his shadow, after all.

[ELETH MIXERS SURE ARE HANDY, HUH.]
Too bad Asbel didn't have one with him. Ingredients lay in jumbled groups along the kitchen counter and a few "extra" purchases still peeked out of a paper bag while Asbel tried to take charge of the meal. Keyword "tried". He'd even checked out a book, hoping it might shed some light on the fine art of cooking (Cheria made it look so easy!), but he was honestly having some trouble. A lot of it.

Curry was easy enough. He knew the ingredients by heart. All he had to do was cook those together and come up with a mild sauce to slather over the mix. Cook some rice. That was totally doable. Crablettes, well. Crabmeat was involved, and he already had that sizzling and beginning to stick in a pan on the stove. And eggs, he had a carton of those. And then...what? Should he add them in with the crab?

Asbel thumbed through the cookbook for about five seconds before letting it hit the counter with a flop and a frustrated sigh, going back over to the cutting board where a knife stuck out of a partially diced potato.

"Maybe I should just...get all the vegetables cut up first." There wasn't any way he could screw that up at least.

He sighed again, hoping against hope that someone (anyone!) could save him. More than anything, he wished Cheria were here, he'd even welcome a good scolding.

[YOU SHOULD TRY AND BE FRIENDS.]
With the food situation solved (at least for the time being), Asbel sank wearily down into one of the chairs that had been brought together around the table. He never realized just how much energy cooking could drain out of a person! But at least this wasn't a total loss. He had Sophie and Richard here with him, as well as their roommates and Sophie's friend. Naturally he was curious about them.

"So, how are things?" he ventured.

[CLEANING ISN'T SO BAD.]
In fact, it was a great way to end the evening. Asbel stood over the sink, dutifully scrubbing the blackened frying pan and various other eating utensils and plates.

"You know, this was actually a lot of fun. We should try it again sometime."

"Do you need some help young man?"

Selen happened to be stretching in the early part of the day as she came out of her room to see the noise. Ah, she noticed the purple haired housemate of hers and someone else, but they seemed to be in a bit of trouble with well-- cooking?

"My I didn't know we had a guest," she chimed.
pactfulfilled: Do not take, please. (► Um I really don't think so?)

Not at all! Sorry for the late, it's been a busy work week.

Uh-oh... Speaking of, there was his girl, padding into the kitchen.

"Oh, hey there Sophie," he greeted her for probably the third time that day, hoping that he looked like he had things relatively under control. It was only a few seconds later, however, that his attention was claimed again by the appearance of one of her housemates (or so he assumed). While he hated for Sophie to think he couldn't handle this all on his own - especially after what he'd said only days before - he honestly knew that if it came down to a fight, his own inexperience in the kitchen was going to win out over even his sincerest intentions.

"Well, I could probably use another pair of hands," he admitted with a sheepish laugh. "Or a second cook. I'm Asbel, by the way. It's nice to meet you." He'd have offered her a hand to shake, but at the moment he was holding a knife, so he decided to play it safe by offering her a brief nod of greeting instead.

She's a housemate. She's probably been living here a lot longer than she anticipated. Still, it's a nice place and she wouldn't want to move at this point. Her smile widened when the other agreed, "Perfect. Let me know what you need help with and I'm your helper~" she chimed cheerfully pulling up her sleeves for the time being

"Pleasure Asbel! I'm Selen, one of Sophie's housemates."

At least, she learned the girl's proper name. "Sophie" had a nice ring to it, really.

"Oh, I see~ So you found your guardian and your name is Sophie is that correct?" she mused giving the girl a once over, "Dinner sounds wonderful. Any other requests you have? It will be on me."
