Summary: Chiaki decided to pick up a new hobby, but her paintings are turning out strangely.
Warnings: Probably just gonna use action brackets for my own tags, but feel free to go with whatever makes you comfortable.

[In a recent conversation with Valvalis during the events in the Imperial City, Chiaki has decided that maybe there is some merit to the suggestion that she should be doing something with her spare time other than just playing games. After all, there are no video games to speak of in this world, and that's what she spent the bulk of her time on before coming here.

So in order to fill the void in her schedule, she's decided to take up painting. There was a brief internal debate about whether to go with this or carving wooden lawn gnomes, because everyone knows the latter is much more profitable, but Chiaki eventually decided the start-up cost of becoming a painter in terms of both materials needed and initial effort required was more efficient.

It seems as if she's finished a few paintings, and she's showing them off in a little impromptu exhibition outside the Observatory being used as the Heroes' guild hall. But they all have a rather curious similarity to them - all of the images depicted are composed of hundreds of colored squares, almost like pointillism but more blocky. And the paintings are generally easier to resolve into an image the farther away you get.

Right now, she's got three things sitting on easels next to her. One is entitled Self Portrait, a second bears the title Valvalis, and the third is called Landscape. Up close, it just looks like a mess of random blocks and colors, but once you move back, it actually appears to be a picture of the sun setting over the horizon of the city. Chiaki is standing next to the paintings waiting for people to come by and comment.]

[Yugi enjoyed his time exploring all the places that this world had to offer, to get a better feeling and to make himself feel more comfortable at being here. But with each step he took, his mind would think of what could be going on back home, if his best friend was safe and away... What would happen to the puzzle now? It bothered him a little bit, but he didn't let it get to him too much.

It wasn't until he got to the observatory that he noticed that there was someone else there. Taking a few steps, he kept an eye on him before looking at what they had been doing.]

Oh wow... I like your art style. [It reminded him of games really and that was enough to put a small smile on his face at least.]

Oh... thank you.

[And now there's a small smile on her face at the compliment.]

I just started recently, so I'm glad.

You must be into video games, am I right?

[He wasn't sure if he should really pin point that more, but the style in itself kind of made it obvious, but he was still impressed.]

I... guessed by the style... But I could be very wrong.

Yeah. At home, they called me the Ultimate Gamer. I've probably played thousands of different games.

[And although it sounds like bragging, Chiaki's tone is very matter of fact. Informational more than prideful, really.]

Ultimate Gamer, huh. [Well that title made it obvious she was really into games. Just like his title that well... he felt was more his other selfs title if he had to admit it.]

Have you played all kinds of board games, cards games even hand held games, but not in the video game sense?

[Hey when there is someone who has played games, he wants to know.]

Huh?

[She tilts her head for a moment, blinking at the question.]

No, I like all kinds of games. Video games are probably my favorite, but they don't really exist here, so I've been playing Triple Triad instead.

Ah, I've been playing that as well.

[He wished there were more games here that weren't sports since he was never really good at that.]

Quite an easy game to play once you get the hang of it. [He looks at the painting again for a moment.]

Do you think there could be other games around... Or we could always try and create one, I guess.

Are you in the Pro League? Maybe we'll meet each other at the next tournament. I just won the international competition in the Imperial City.

[She smiles, seeming pretty happy about the thought.]

I never thought about that before. I wonder if I should try.

[That might be for the best, though. Any game Chiaki tried to come up with would probably end up a lot like this.]

Ah, yeah. I am, though it was only recently that I became part of it. [he gives a small smile.] Congrats on winning by the way, I'll look forward to the day we'll face each other in a tournament.

[Never thought about it, well Yugi would think about stuff like that when not studying. There is a reason school bingo was created.]

You could always try, I find anything can be made into a game if you put your mind to it.

Me too. It's always nice to be able to play against a strong opponent.

[Chiaki is unfortunately not that creative.]

I just look at life itself as a game, really.

[He nodded, he could agree with that at least.]

It is. It's always fun as well and you learn something new against a strong opponent. Giving one the drive to try there best.

[He gives a small smile before kneeling down to take a closer look at the paintings for the moment.]

I do that some times. Not all the time, but on occasion.

[They are suitably pixelly.]

It's just the way I understand the world, I guess. It's easier for me to think of things in those sorts of terms.

It's easier? I guess I can get that, but I'm sure the more you spend time here the more you'll see the world in a very different way. But I could also be very wrong about that.

[He just gives a small laugh, he could always be wrong.]

Maybe. This world reminds me a lot of a game too.

You are talking about like a role playing game, right? Both the video game kind and the ones you play on a board.

[He at least got that feeling himself if he was honest.]

Right, exactly. This place feels a lot like that.

That's what I first thought when I found myself here really.

[And the last time he played one that felt real too, for reasons.]

Which means there will be an end to this if it follows that. It might be tough though.

Games like that usually are. But I think we can do it.

I believe that to. So long as we get tougher and level up so they say.

Exactly. You're one of the first people who understands it when I talk that way.

Really? I guess that could be because I have a love for games as well.

[Considering the sheer amount of has played and the fact he lived in a game shop helped.]

I'll look forward to playing against you in the upcoming tournaments, then.

I look forward to it. [He wasn't sure when the next one will be, but he had to admit he was looking forward to it as he looked around.]

I should get going and get back before Hikari does something.

Yeah. It'll be fun.

[Chiaki smiles, hesitating a moment before holding out her hand.]

Oh. Okay.

...By the way, I'm Chiaki Nanami.

[Since they didn't introduce themselves like a couple of derps.]

[He held out his hand to shake, being slightly embarrassed by the fact that he never mentioned his name before.]

I'm Yugi Mutou, it was nice speaking to a fellow gamer.
