Meet and Mingle! OPEN
Characters: Gathering for Newbie's to meet and Mingle
Where: Observatory
When: March 7th
Summary: Zelda is getting a party together for those who are new and old so that everyone can meet. She will also answer anyone's question.
Warning: None yet. Will monitor.
The Observatory looks like it was still being worked on from the outside. The building was old and the heroes have only had a few months to work on it. Stables were in the process of being built around the side and it looks as if you can see the whole city from its highest point.
Inside the main entrance was cleaned and made to feel comfortable with soft lighting and polished floors. The front desk has snacks and drinks on it while chairs line the walls. The designs are simple favoring functionality over gaudiness.
[ooc: Feel free to make top posts and tag around! Figured it'd be a great place to meet and talk! Zelda will have a top post to answer questions... to the best of her abilities.]

The wine also was given all due consideration, mainly by a simple sniff and then a questioning 'Oro?' under his breath. He just wasn't sure, so he attempted one small glass of something that smelled a lot like apples before deciding that too wasn't to his taste. After eating and drinking a little to show willingness if not complete understanding, he walked around the room, greeting people with a smile and a slight bow, projecting the air of a humble and rather silly person, even if some of these people knew he wasn't exactly either.
Ken-Nii! ^_^ (not that Lydia'd call him that.)
Betel-Po looked up at the other, then peeked his head over the table to see what the fuss was about. A snort of amusement came from the little creature trailing Lydia. He stayed quiet though, as Lydia had already warned him to be polite.
awww
He almost had it too, but the fork skidded across the plate and he frowned at both the little tidbit and the fork before looking over at Lydia. The confusion on his face was probably more than enough explanation, even as the little black and white moogle that he adopted from the rescued group settled on his shoulders.
"I tried telling him he was holding it wrong, but he's such a darling silly," she said, tugging on a loose bit of hair.
Re: awww
Taking one of the forks, she made sure to hold her own hand up and carefully placed it properly. Showing him, before she gathered a plate herself and then demonstrated. "It can take getting used to, but it's really not hard once you get the hang of it. I still regularly drop things with chopsticks."

He watched Lydia for a moment and then tried again, this time managing to spear the errant piece of food. It stayed in place too, just long enough for him to take a bite and mull over the flavors.
"One admits that this food is very strange," he said at last. "But at least it tastes like food and not mud."
no subject
BUT...she knew better than to gobble it. Taking her time, making herself slow down. Even as B-P stole a bite off her plate. "Probably too much to ask that it be like food from either of our worlds, huh?"
no subject
This was a strange wobbly thing that reminded him of a kind of tubular root. The taste was a lot sharper than something he was use to, sharper but not unlike a diakon. It was cooked properly and yet, he knew of other ways to cook something like it without making it overly bitter or sharper than needed.
"If one can find proper food to cook, that is so."
no subject
"Either that, or if I can come over for dinner, I'll help with the clean-up in exchange."

She absently tucked a long strain of gold behind a pointed ear with a smile. She hadn't thought to tie back her hair and it has already grown well past her waist.

"This one is Kenshin, a simple rurouni. Thank you, Zelda, for this party welcoming all of us here."

She was used to people here staring at her ears and it wasn't something that she took offense too. Her hand moved to her ear drawing his attention back to its pointed edge. "I'm from a land called Hyrule though I was born in Skyloft. The legend says we were made in the image of our goddess."

"Your goddess..?" He looked back at the shape of her ears and then smiled, ducking his head a little, his tone almost wistful. "That sounds like a nice legend to have, that it does."
awkward Kenshin super open
"Do you have legends in your world as well?"

His smile faded a little, looking at the food set out before reaching up to absently tug his hair free of his moogle's hands. He understood that the color was something that she really liked, but sometimes she just tugged on it too hard. It at least was a distraction from the legend he knew concerning himself. Ten years... and yet still the Battousai stalked the streets of Kyoto, though he at least had stopped one who used that legend for ill.
"Aa, one's pardon. One does not mean to speak of ill things here."
awkward Kenshin super open
"But it doesn't mean that it is false either. Legends exist for a reason. To help us learn and grow guiding us towards the right thing to do or teaching us what we shouldn't do." Zelda smiled. "But, we don't have to talk more about it if you don't want to."
She could understand how legends can hit close to home.

"How are you adjusting?"

"This one is finding that getting free of the prison is not the hard part, that it is."
no subject
She could tell her was getting used to the utensil.
"How did Lydia do when you were scouting?" She's taken n interest in the girl, and would to know what other skills she has.
no subject
Kenshin agreed with her there. Even with the moogles and the threat of experimenting, it was still a prison and he had been in those before. True, there wasn't much in the way of guards until they left the first floor, but it was still a prison.
"Lydia-dono?" He nibbled at his tidbit and gave it an odd look. "How did she do?" He set his plate aside to give the whole adventure all due consideration before answering Olivier's question.
"She did... very well. One knows that she is not born to a warring time; she is from a gentle place but she did not let her ignorance in fighting get in her way of being useful. One had felt that she might find some of the actions we needed to take as being far too harsh, but she was brave and she helped in what she could. This one felt she would make for an excellent companion when traveling."
no subject
"I'm thinking it might do her some good to have her along on some exploration trips. Teach her a bit about fighting. It's a skill she could use improvement in. She seems to be good at uniting people, even this party seems to be proof of her ability to get people together, and my gut tells me we will need people like that in order to all get back home, but she'll need to be able to defend herself if necessary."
no subject
He wasn't sure if he alone could help Lydia learn defense. It was a part of his sword style, knowing how to hit and kick and get the other swordsman out of his extreme space so he could bring his weapon back into play, but he wasn't sure if it would help Lydia. She may need a different kind of training than what he could provide and while it would be good to re-learn some of his own kata, Lydia may not need to learn them at all.
"One feels that the more that will help her with learning self-defense, the better she would get, that one does."

Is this ok?
"Hey. How's it going?"
it's good :3
"It is... going? One is unsure where it is going, but it doing so, that it is."
So maybe understanding was pushing it a little.
Re: it's good :3
"Ah.... I was just wondering if you were having any problems. You're one of the people who arrived in the empire, right?"

He looked at the ground, glanced over at his moogle and then huffed a slight laugh at himself, rubbing at the back of his head. He was going to do a lot of that, wasn't he? Mistaking people's comments and finding strange things that others would see as being normal. That was a problem with being from another world, but still, he felt a little silly about mistakes.
"Yes, this one had escaped from the Research Center of the Empire with others. One's companion is also from there. One thinks that things are far too new to know what problems will happen until one encounters them."
Like forks. He was still not sure how to use forks because a large part of him wants to use one for a hair pin.
