Happy Choco Egg Day!
WHO: Rukia Kuchiki, OPEN
WHAT: As an avid lover of rabbits, Rukia is more excited about this holiday than any other. So she's agreed to help out in her bunny costume, and even contribute her own chocolate sculpture to the contest (spoilers: it's terrible).
WHEN: March 27th - 28th
WHERE: Aqures Ixen
It was 4 a.m. when Rukia stepped out of her bedroom and closed the door behind her, pulling the zipper of her pink bunny costume snugly up to her throat. The big plush feet didn't make a sound as she crept quietly into the bathroom and applied her make-up. Some false eyelashes, some drawn whiskers, and a pink triangle nose completed the look, and she stood back to admire the effect in the mirror. Yes, this would do nicely! She turned around to check that her tail was appropriately fluffy, nodded to herself, and stole quietly out of the house.
It was time to hide the eggs.
She reported to the Hypellos as she'd promised, taking up the baskets of chocolate eggs before moving quickly through the city. They had to hide these as swifly as possible before people started to rouse from their beds, and she saw nothing wrong with utilizing a Haste spell to help her move at maximum speed. She placed wrapped chocolate eggs in flower pots, tucked them behind window shutters, rolled a few into the grass, and even placed one in the top drawer of Cid's desk. No one could claim that Rukia didn't know how to get into the spirit of a holiday.
Once the clock struck nine, it was time to stop hiding eggs and start delivering them. She slid baskets onto her velveteen arms and cheerfully went to houses to deliver baskets of candy and treats to people personally. Some were to the houses of heroes, because of course they got chocolate too. Most went to the houses of citizen families, particularly those with kids. Rukia was only too happy to chat with the little ones, allowing them to tug on her ears if they wished, hugging them when they practically bowled her over with enthusiasm, and encouraging them to be on their best behavior so she'd see them again next year.
It was almost a pity they didn't have a position like this required on a daily basis instead of just two days out of the year, she thought to herself with a smile as she went to the next door and knocked.
------------------
Rukia considered herself something of an artist. Her illustrated reports were always well received when she turned them in, and as often as she drew, she had a lot of experience under her belt. But she didn't always draw.
Sometimes she sculpted, too.
And that was how a giant lumpy chocolate rabbit statue came to be set on a pedestal in the town square where the entries were being displayed. Rukia carefully carved at the sweet chocolate, applying heat where necessary to better shape and mold it to the vision she had in her head.
Rukia took a step back, wiping her hands in the chocolate-stained cloth to admire her work. "That's looking good," she remarked more to herself than anyone else. It was almost finished, it just needed a little more detail here and there.Or a wrecking ball.

2. i are late
Never mind that Yuri is quietly observing the chocolate sculpture since Rukia started working on it. He didn't particularly make his presence known but he assumed Rukia would have figured it out by now that he was quite the nosy person when he wanted to be. Especially when it came to people he cared a good deal about.
"Then I guess it's looking pretty damn good."
He replied with a chuckle as he continues to examine the creature.
"I have to say, you're getting pretty good at this sculpting stuff, Shorty."
As Yuri said that, Repede sort of rolls in curiously as well. He seemed to be glancing at the rabbit as if it were a strange foreign object but he knows better than to go and take it apart since Rukia won't like it, probably.
ULTIMATE PUNISHMENT!
But instead, he complimented her work, and Rukia brightened intensely. "Thank you," she beamed, and turned to gaze at her misshapen rabbit with obvious pride. "I've only ever worked with sand before. Chocolate is new to me, so I admit that I'm rather pleased with what I've made given that it's my first attempt."
That was honestly very kind of him to say. And, as usual, she had a happy grin for Repede as well once she spotted her favorite dog in all of existence.
But even that wouldn't have spared him her wrath if he damaged her beloved bunny art."What brings you out here? Have you come to participate in the contest as well?" she asked, dipping a ladle into the melting pot to scoop up more melted chocolate and hold it aloft to let it begin cooling, softening it up so she could roll it into pieces and apply finer details to her sculpture.
NEVER XD
"Eager for a compliment aren't we? You seem to be doing fine, though you probably want to shape it a bit more."
He replied pointing to certain areas he was noticing that could use some work but not in any sort of rude manner a he skeptically reviews the sculpture. It made sense. Yuri had never really made one of these things himself, but he wasn't the type to let a challenge pass. He'd probably join in the matter very soon.
"The first attempt isn't all that bad. I'm pretty sure with more practice, you'd be a pro."
He replied with a hand to his hip as Repede looked at her for the grin that he was getting.
He honestly would rather not have to deal with biting her because she threatened him over eating her chocolate. He's more mature than Yuri."Not entirely. I didn't know folks could get this festive, but I wouldn't mind trying my hand at this. It's not exactly my forte but it can't exactly be that difficult right?" he mused giving her a once over.
no subject
Which meant she was pledging a great deal of trust in allowing him to shape and mold the chocolate she'd worked so hard to create. He was her friend. Much as they enjoyed teasing one another, she knew he would not be so crass as to spoil her beloved art project for the sake of a selfish laugh.
Once he took the knife, she nodded in approval, before turning back to the rabbit thing. "Do you prefer to mold the tail, or the face?" Whichever side he was up for, that was likely to be the side that actually looked like it might have a chance of winning.
no subject
He nodded his head at her words as she smiled at him. He takes the knife that she offered to him, blinking as if he's uncertain of where she was getting at by giving it to him, but that was only because he was waiting to see what else she was going to say
Yuri gives the large piece a once over as Rukia asked if he preferred the tail or the face. He figured it was something like that. It was a great deal of trust she had in him. She didn't know if he would mess up her piece of work but she decided to assume otherwise. Yuri should probably live up to her expectations then.
There's a grin on his face.
"Which is hard, the face or the tail? I'd probably be fine with either to be honest."
no subject
Her head tipped slightly to the side as she considered his grin. "Are you asking because you wish to be challenged, or because you'd rather take the beginner's route to sculpting?"
This chocolate rabbit was going to be a delicious nightmare by the time they were finished, regardless of who was in charge of the head.
no subject
He chuckled at her question. Of course, it was whatever Rukia wanted it to be. Yuri was fine giving her a hand with whatever. If the face was harder, he'd probably have more of a kick at playing with it. Rukia could fluff the tail however she wanted, but damn he knew she had some issues with rabbit type things but he didn't expect it to be a little over the top.
However, it's not surprising as he starts looking at the face and slowly carving into it as he did. It would be but in any case, Yuri liked food art to some given extent.
no subject
"...Very well," she said, relinquishing her control of that side of the sculpture. "But make certain that its face remains cute. That is the most essential element of any sort of rabbit art." She gestured non-threateningly with her carving blade before sidling around toward the rabbit's back.
Honestly, he'd probably made a wise decision. The face would likely turn out much better with Yuri at the helm than Rukia.
no subject
"Roger that Captain. You don't have to worry too much."
He replied mocking a salute to her as he walked over to the sculpture and skimming it before he started to carefully carve into it. He seemed rather concentrated than usual but nothing that was too bad. Yuri would make sure that the face was the cutest damn thing he's done with chocolate because challenges are always waiting to be accomplished right?
no subject
Their conversation was light, and once they got to chatting, Rukia grew more relaxed and soon ceased trying to check on his work altogether. The back of the bunny was...rather plain, honestly, as if the body were just a simple cylinder with no understanding of bone and muscle structure. But she was proud of the tail, which looked as if someone had glued a bunch of cotton balls together into a single puffy sphere. Not very rabbit-like, to be honest, but she thought it was cute.
By the time she'd finished, chocolate was laced beneath her fingernails and ran up her arms to the elbows in thick smears. She smelled great, but her hands felt sticky. It would feel good to wash them off while standing back and admiring their work together.
"I believe I've finished. May I see your side now?"
no subject
Yuri probably jabbed her a few times to get her working again and then focusing on his own task
at hand. He wanted to ensure that he lived up to his words obviously. He wasn't going to let Rukia down. He also had a lot of confident in his own skills. He might have sneaked a look at hers when she wasn't paying attention but other than that there wasn't anything too bad going on. He stepped back wiping some swear off his face with the ends of his rolled up sleeves.
The swordsman started chuckling when he saw her appearance. While she had a lot of smudges of chocolate here and there all over her, he was pretty much clean. He didn't have chocolate anywhere but his hands and even then it wasn't too bad either.
"Sure, dunno if it suits your fancy, Shorty, but I did my best."
no subject
And she stared.
It was almost worrisome that she remained rooted in place, completely silent, with her eyes fixed on the statue's face. Was she judging it? Criticizing the details? Searching for flaws?
Nope. Rukia was simply awestruck, basking in the rabbit's adorable cuteness, and was at a complete loss of words for a long, long time.
"I.......................I love it............." she finally whispered.
no subject
He only proceeded to chuckle at her reply as he patted the chocolate rabbit for a moment. That means he did pretty well and he was damn proud of that fact whether it showed on his face or not.
"Glad to hear. I'd be worried if you got upset at it instead."
He replied putting an elbow on her head instead of his hands since they were covered in chocolate.
no subject
Finally, she began to blink more often, and slowly relaxed. "I'm rather proud of our work. Perhaps we should clean up and celebrate with a bite to eat." As long as it wasn't chocolate, she was hungry enough to eat just about anything.
no subject
He's grateful that the girl didn't kick him yet for doing so but she was probably too happy with the product and Yuri himself can't help but be pretty happy with the outcome as well. It did look pretty damn good if he didn't say so himself.
"Alright, so what are we going to do with this giant chocolate rabbit?"
First things first. What to do with it.
no subject
At least they both seemed to think so.
Then Yuri asked what they should do with it.
Rukia glanced up at him with a happy smile. "What do you mean?" Then, slowly, his meaning started to sink in, and her expression darkened. "We are not going to eat it."
no subject
He chuckled at her response to his comments. Of course, the girl was a lot more talented then she seemed to give herself credit for. He wasn't saying they should eat it. She was coming to that conclusion way too quickly. Her face was ridiculous too in that expression.
"That's not exactly what I mean, Shorty. You'd have a conniption if we ate it. I meant we can't leave it out here where dust can get on it or someone might bump it."
no subject
But considering one of the Hypellos was constructing a life-sized chocolate Bahamut statue, their mediocre rabbit was unlikely to catch the eyes of any judges. And yet, Rukia remained optimistic about their chances.
"I would not wish to see it bumped and broken either, but we must take our chances."
no subject
Seeing he probably didn't have use for it. After all he was offering to help her with it out of their friendship more than the rewards. He rather liked how everything turned out but that was true. Though, there were always ways to make the Bahamut statue disappear but he'll be ethical this time and not pull bad strings.
"I suppose so. You do got a point there. Let's go get a bite to eat and then check on it afterwards. That'd probably be alright?"
no subject
Thankfully, Yuri's offer of a hot meal to counterbalance the long hours of molding sweets was enough to break the thought before it had time to ingrain itself in her head, otherwise she might very well have roped him into making a Bahamut-sized chocolate rabbit to best the competition. She smiled and inclined her head.
"That would be lovely, thank you." It was the perfect end to a very perfect day.
no subject
He thought there were but then again he sort of walked into the game without really paying attention to the rules and other things in between. In any case he doesn't seem like he's too interested in the prizes. He looked at it and shook his head.
"If it was bigger, might fall over."
He replied with a brief chuckle.
"Alright, let's go, I'm starving," he mused. With his not dirty arm, he throws over her shoulder and takes her along.
