Behemoth Battle
WHO: Graham Specter, Kazuma Kuwabara, Rukia Kuchiki, Yuffie Kisaragi
WHAT: Rukia's got her team of four to go tackle the behemoth in hopes of claiming the fat gil reward to be split between them. Regardless of how it goes, they later hang out to eat. Now they all have the plague.
WHEN: May 8th, 2016 - Noon
WHERE: Monster Arena
NOTE: Even if Rukia's team does defeat it, the reward still stands for others who want to challenge the behemoth either solo or in a team of their own.
As a Beastmaster, Rukia had favored that particular costume over her second job, mostly because the thick furs and sturdy leathers kept her warm during the season of cold weather. Now that spring had spread and temperatures were climbing, she had opted to appear at this battle in the more comfortable and familiar Ninja robes she'd first donned upon awakening in the city all those months ago.
The four of them stood behind the gate of iron bars that led into the Arena. Rukia's hand rested upon the handle of her katana, which remained sheathed at her hip for the time being. She hadn't yet summoned her pets, as she would need to gauge the situation before deciding which to bring to the front of combat. Yuki was likely her best bet, as the chocobo could heal, and the rest of her companions were well-suited for dealing heavy damage.
She also neglected to use her Invisibility skill. If she did this, the others were more likely to be targeted and attacked by the behemoth. Unless she became gravely injured, she would appear alongside the others.
Twice.
While she didn't plan to go invisible unless it was a last resort, having a clone of herself at the ready would be quite useful indeed.
The rattle of a metal chain clinked rhythmically as their gate slowly began to rise. On the other side of the arena, she could see the behemoth snorting and tearing at the ground behind its own enormous gate, beady eyes locked on the Heroes it was about to fight. "Is everyone prepared?" she asked, drawing her sword and gripping it tightly.

Yuffie was donned in her black ninja garb. It was always the same for her: a black tank top, shorts a hood which was attached to a loss fitting sleeveless jacket and a pair of high tan boots. It wasn’t what anyone would describe as a common ninja outfit but it was the one that she was familiar with. Black straps tied over a dozen different length daggers to her thighs and hips while a large shuriken was gripped tightly in her hand.
She was ready and like Rukia she could teleport should she need to get to someone’s side. She wasn’t about to go invisible either though she might try and taunt the beast and then blink around to give her teammates a greater chance to attack. She was better at dodging than anything else anyway.
Yuffie’s dark almond gaze flicked from Rukia to the others with them.
“I think we got this.”
They have a pretty good line up and Yuffie wasn’t in the habit of bragging, as much, but she was pretty awesome.

And, thanks to this and the impending battle, he was really riled up.
"Do you even need to ask that? Do you think I'm ever not prepared for a fight? How insulting! I'm really wounded, Rukia! It's a good thing I'm always prepared for a fight or maybe I'd just lie down on the ground and die right now. Or maybe I'd fight you for bein' so insolent! But after looking at that monster, I've forgotten everything I was mad about because I can't wait to tear that thing to pieces! So you better open that gate before I do. Isn't 'insolent' a really swell word?!"

He had no issues with his current jobs since had yet to request any new ones, so he was all dressed up in his Dragoon armor. Only, he still didn't get why heavy metal armor is a thing. He's pretty much managed to avoid death fine without it.
"Geez you're pretty riled," he muttered to himself mostly when Graham spoke. There were two other girls. He wondered which one was the Rukia chick he talked to. She seemed nice.

Sigh.
It would be funny if she weren't certain he was actually very serious about everything he said. She really wasn't in the mood to fend off another surprise attack, especially since he was getting stronger and stronger to the point where she wasn't really sure she could keep defeating him. She had to, in order to make sure he didn't take that as a sign that he was now ready to fight the Calamity one on one, because she didn't want to take the chance that he hadn't forgotten the promise she'd made the first day they'd met.
So instead she shook her head. Her wry smile, at least, carried a hint of fondness. "I...suppose it is a good word."
And that brought her to the final member of the party, who definitely appeared to be the most intimidating. With his bright hair, she was concerned that the behemoth might target Kuwabara far more than any of the others. She would have to keep an eye on him if he took any injuries. At least he seemed primed to face their opponent. She nodded at him too.
The gate vanished into the stone ceiling of the arena wall, and Rukia stepped forward. Puffs of dust rose from her feet as she moved forward to lead her team, her clone at her side. The behemoth bellowed, and the sound of it reverberated all the way into the marrow of her bones. It tossed its head and slammed its horns impatiently against the unyielding bars of its pen. It was fierce, and deadly, and probably capable of wiping out the lot of them if they were unlucky.
Rukia bent her knees, dropping into a defensive crouch. Then the sound of a metallic, rhythmic 'clink-clink-clink-clink' heralded the rising of the behemoth's portcullis.
The gate was only barely halfway up before the large purple beast thrust its snout forward, scrabbling its way into the arena. The lash of its tail was powerful enough to shatter spines with one careless flick. With another mighty roar, it lowered its head and charged.

"Oh, before we get to into this I did bring some potions. If anyone needs it let me know." Not that she wouldn't keep an eye on things but she knew the haziness of battle and with something so large it was easily to lose people; not that Yuffie made it a habit of doing so.
She followed behind Rukia, her own clone flicking to life at her side. More people means more targets and she'd help Rukia with the confusion. Her steps were completely silent making her movements almost eerie as the loud cumbersome creature moved into view. She's fought a Behemoth before but something about this was definately unlike what she was used too. With the creature barreling towards them Yuffie blinks, disappearing in a cloud of smoke while leaving her clone behind to stay within the monsters sight.
When she reappears she's above the Behemoth aiming to land on it's head. Her shuriken flies from her finger tips circling in a large arc before slicing along the Behemoths face.

Graham's never fought a Behemoth before, and he's more than ready. Without wasting a moment, he also goes right for it, not bothering with a Clone or a Smoke Bomb. Instead, while Yuffie's distracting it, he takes his chance to get close and use Larceny. He doesn't know what it's capable of, but if it had any buffs or protection spells cast on itself, consider them stolen.

He shouted just as excited as his teammates. Rukia at least took a defensive position of the four of them.
While everyone takes a careful step towards battle, Kuwabara cracked his knuckles, and grasped his Spear. In the next second he's running straight for the damn t hing with his weapon readying himself to incapacitate it at the legs. One thing he learned about combating big things was that incapacitating them from the bottom up made them fall harder, in which means they'd be easier to stun.
That would result in a serious opening and they could attack while the thing was exposed and out for them to. He takes a quick swing at the things left hind leg with Dragoon Spear. Lucky for him almost all the classes he had so far mirrored what he could do with his Spirit Sword. He just had to be creative about it.

The problem was, her sword wasn't dedicated to exorcising behemoths. And its hide was much, much tougher than the brittle psychological composition of a Hollow's mask. The Whip Lore ensured her attack dealt twice as much damage, but that didn't matter much if she didn't deal a lot of damage to begin with.
The behemoth snorted and tossed its head, flinging Rukia aside while her clone charged into to take a few slashes too.
Picking herself up out of the dust, Rukia raised her blade and summoned her chocobo. "Yuki! Come!" An iris of silver light spread in front of Rukia, and the green-feathered chocobo appeared with a war-wark. At her command, the bird spun around and ruffled its feathers, casting Haste upon Graham. He already had a deadly swing, and was likely to inflict more damage than she could. If he could move twice as fast, that made him a far bigger threat to the beast.
Meanwhile, the behemoth was less than pleased at being sliced in the face, or the legs. It barely noticed Graham, but that didn't mean he was out of danger. The angry creature stomped and spun around, its powerful tail swinging out to catch anyone who wasn't quick enough to get out of the way. And if someone fell beneath one of its massive feet, then they would soon be in for a world of pain...or just be reduced to toe jelly. Either way, it would not be pleasant.
[OOC: Feel free to NPC the behemoth for your tags too, it's totally okay!]

Her double jumped in front of the Behemoth's sites, it's tongue stuck out to taunt the large beast.
As the others move Yuffie searches for a weak spot on the creature, anything that looks softer than the rest of him. In the end she settled for his joint. She grabbed one of the larger daggers from her thigh and shoved it hard between the joint, kicking it deeper with the heel of her foot.
"Look out!"
Yuffie shouted just as the creature roared again and she went tumbling off it's side.

Using the momentum from its stumble, Graham pulled its head towards that angle as hard as he could, taking advantage of Yuffie's hit to its leg joint. He wasn't sure if it would be enough to temporarily pull the creature to the ground, but he was going to try like hell.
no subject
Kuwabara rolled out of the way of the stomp just barely in time to hear Yuffie shout after she cut at its joint. He dived for the tumbling girl as he swung at the injured joint in hopes of getting some damage while saving someone else. Of course, he was disregarding himself as usual but details. Kuwabara wasn't the type to break easily so he was going to just roll with it until things got better.

Until the Behemoth stepped on her clone, with a wet burst of bright scarlet and smoke from under its foot. What remained was a dark, greasy smear where nothing would ever grow again.
Rukia grimaced. There hadn't been much warning, nor had there been a means to anticipate the errant step. It served as a good reminder not to get too comfortable.
As Yuffie was already pretty quick on her feet, Rukia placed her next Haste spell upon Kuwabara. "Be wary!" she warned. "We haven't managed to fatigue it just yet!" The behemoth only seemed more agitated and powerful, lowering its head to point its horns at the nearest Hero and charge with the intent of impaling them.

Then the beast roared. "Oh shit, right. I'm going for the other joint. Good just aiming for the legs." She offers the orange haired by another smile before blinking from sight and appeared on the other side of the Behemoth. Her blades flicked into her palm as the Behemoth continued to stomp around. It had magic, she knew, but she hoped that they'd piss it off enough that it would forget that fact.

Even Graham's not that rash. Instead, as he gets close, he grabs one of the monster's teeth with the jaws of his wrench. As he does, he activates his Shunshin, boosting his speed to a blinding pace, as he pulls in the opposite direction. Doctor Graham Specter, monster dentist, at your service. There's more resistance than he was expecting, but he tooth comes out and Graham lands smoothly. Almost. The enraged Behemoth gets a lucky kick in on its speedy target as he jumps down, sending Graham flying like a ragdoll. He manages to recover quickly thanks to his increased agility, but damn, that hurt. He opens his mouth to start up a rant, but the wind has been knocked out of him.

"I got this!"
Kuwabara's weapon was sharp enough to slowly start drilling holes into the large creatures as he repeatedly hits the right spots. Of course, it didn't appreciate his over abuse of hits leg, so he he screeched angrily attempting to stomp him out of existence. Too bad for them that Kuwabara was pretty good on his feet and rolled away only to be sent flying by an unexpected stomp if agitation when it was getting hit again.
'Damn it that hurt."
He grumbled as he pulled himself back to his feet and getting out of the way of another stomp. He winces when he saw Graham get sent flying. Yikes, he hopes the other is okay. He liked to help but he was a little caught up.

Then green flashes of light sparkled in the air around it, and its wounds began to close.
Rukia stared in disbelief. It could heal itself?! Damn! It was no wonder this thing carried such a hefty reward for its defeat. She was about to cast Haste on Yuffie, but now she realized a different tactic might be in order.
"Is anyone using magic?" she shouted. "If not, I'm going to cast Reflect on the creature!"
no subject
She blinked again, disappearing in a puff of purple only to appear overhead. Her large blade circled from her palm and scraped along the back of the creature's neck. It reared it's head upward and Yuffie caught herself on one of the Behemoth's horns. She grinned at Graham who's now the closest too her before catching her spinning blade and readying another attack.
It's fights like this that she enjoys.
no subject
Instead of the beast's teeth, this time, the target is its nose. He jumped right at it, swinging the wrench like a baseball bat and landing one nasty-sounding hit. The Behemoth might be more startled than hurt from that, but it does succeed in stopping it for just a moment as it shakes its head.
Graham laughs manically, triumphantly.
"YEAH! Weak points, everyone has the same weak points whether they're man or beast! It's what brings us together!"
no subject
"What they said just cast the damn spell!"
He shouted back since anything could help this time. They just had to make sure it was beaten and taken down so things would run a bit more smoothly. He wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed but he was pretty damn good at being a tank and taking damage for folks. He's going to focus on that if anything.

And none too soon. It had just started to cast another Cure spell to erase the injuries that had just been inflicted upon it. Instead the spell bounced off of the magic shield, reflected onto Graham instead.
Realizing what had just happened, the Behemoth roared with anger, and lowered its head to charge Rukia and her beast companion.
Hastily, Rukia dismissed Yuki, but there wasn't enough time to call for another companion before the Behemoth plowed into her. Rukia's reflexes were enough to spare her from being speared clean through on the behemoth's horn, but it still took a nasty slice out of her, throwing back the tiny shinigami and spattering the arena wall behind her with a fresh splash of her blood. She clutched at her right arm as she fell to her knees with a gasp of pain, unwittingly exposed to the virus that the behemoth carried.

Yuffie blinked in a puff of dark smoke. She slipped the potion from her pocket and then place it in front of Rukia before turning to the Behemoth which was dangerously close to them.
"Bastard!" She threw her blade, watching as it spun and slashed across the creature's face. She's taking Graham's approach with it. She ran forward, heedless of the danger. She'd rather it attack her and give Rukia time to recover. The creature roared up. "Oh shit!"
Yuffie tried to pause in her running at it when it's two large feet crashed back down, shaking the ground and anyone caught beneath his strike.

Kuwabara shouted when he saw the girl get hit. He moved out of the way just as Graham was aiming for the same spot, making a quick 180, he rushed to get a hold of Rukia while Yuffie was slashing the creature for cutting her. God damn it all! This wasn't suppose to happen like this and he wasn't the type to sit around and watch a girl get hurt. He was going to go after her and make sure she was safe.
He moved in front of the other readying to attack the screeching beast that was now pissed that its face got slashed and legs were knifed. He lets out a large roar as he swiped angrily at the two that were going at it with him.

It took a step back, then another, oddly docile. Was it surrendering?
Rukia reached for the potion with a quick word of thanks to Yuffie, but her fingers froze as she noticed small rocks starting to rise from the dust. What was this...? Yuki was squawking in a panic, and for a moment Rukia furrowed her brow. Then her eyes widened.
"TAKE COVER!" she shouted. "It's casting Ultima!" Quickly she downed the potion, but even with that, she wasn't sure she'd survive the spell. A snap of her fingers dismissed Yuki so she wouldn't get caught in the blast. Her head jerked sharply toward Kuwabara as she reached out to grasp his sleeve. "Get beneath the creature. I don't think the spell will extend there!"
no subject
Yuffie waved to Rukia and Kuwabara trying her best to make sure that everyone was safe before taking cover herself. Graham was in a good place to duck and hide beneath the monster but Kuwabara and Rukia were still against the far wall. She dashed towards the pair with the intent to help though she wasn’t sure if she’d be quick enough to avoid the blast.
She gritted her teeth, swallowing her frustration before turning on her heels. Time, they needed time. “I GOT IT!” She put her hands together casting haste on Rukia. Kuwabara already had it and she hoped it would be enough to help her move from the path of the spell.

He shouted back as he made some quick observation to see how he'd get underneath the creature.
Kuwabara took the effort to probably lead Rukia to safety first since she was the one with injuries compared to his own. Kuwabara was the tough type that could handle a couple of injuries and still stay standing out of sheer will.
When Yuffie called to them he dived as fast as he could, while attempting to take Rukia with him so they could all take cover at the same
no subject
It seemed everyone had made it to the safe zone. The behemoth snorted angrily, attempting to slap them away with its deadly tail. Once they were there, Rukia slid off of Kuwabara's back and knelt on the ground, breathing heavily.
Then the behemoth's legs shot out and it belly flopped on top of all of them. BAD END.As she caught her breath, she glanced up, curious as to why the behemoth wasn't moving out of its spot. Did that mean it couldn't be selective about who the Ultima spell? If it was an area-of-effect spell, that meant it could be hurt by its own magic. Reflect couldn't stop that kind of powerful magic, and it didn't seem like the spell could be interrupted or stopped.
Rukia had an idea.
"Can we drive it from this spot?" her head snapped around to fix on the others. "If we can make it move forward a couple of feet, that should be all we need." Just to get its head into the spell range... That would almost certainly do it.
no subject
“Okay, great plan…” She began as if she might have an idea. “I don’t know how to do that.”
Nope, no ideas.

Using his wrench as leverage, he started to push on one of its front legs, in the hopes of getting it to slide or stumble, or anything.
"If we want it to move, then we make it move!"
no subject
He's pretty good at playing bait after all.
"Leave it ta me and help cover me. I got this beast!"
He then runs forward and throws his Javelin straight at the beast, causing a loud painful reaction from it when he finally connected the attack. He used all his powers to make sure it was lodged in the creature enough so that it would freak out.
no subject
The creature thrashed and roared loud enough to cause pain to anyone too close to the source of the noise. Rukia winced, her hands rising almost automaticallly to clap over her ears to protect them. But there were also four large feet stamping around and a lashing tail that had to be avoided.
In short, no one was going to come out of this encounter completely unscathed. There was a reason these creatures were so dangerous.
However, the end result was far more beneficial to the party than the behemoth, as its thrashing forced it to move outside the protected area where the spell had been cast. Blue light bloomed from the ground, enveloping all it touched in blazing, fierce energy. It ripped into the behemoth's left side where it had blundered in a frantic attempt to get at the javelin, leaving large gashes and splits in its tough hide to expose bloodied red muscle, and a flash of white from one of its more prominent ribs. Even part of its face had been torn away, and the result was a nauseating visage that would likely haunt any who laid eyes on it.
Also, it wasn't dead.
Rukia knelt on one knee, panting heavily, and locked her fingers together before making a wild slashing gesture. Hades, formerly known as the Reaper, spun itself into existence out of a plume of red smoke, and conjured an enormous cauldron in front of it. Perhaps now that part of the creature was exposed, it might be more vulnerable to their attacks. It was worth a shot in any case, as Rukia unleashed a wave of debilitating status effects on the wounded beast.
no subject
Everything hurt but she looked up to see the Behemoth as the spell was released.
Yuffie watched the daunting reaper appear and for a second just stared. She let the moment end and threw everything she had left at the beast. She felt the ache in her joints recced as a furrow of blades went soaring towards the downed monster.]

sorry a lot of stuff happened and i couldn't tag! forgive me for being really late!
He's staring at the giant angry creature that wasn't yet dead. Aw, c'mon seriously!? Just die already god damn it. He didn't want to deal with its angry stomping or swinging anymore. He did his best to shake off the damage and getting back to his feet. He's read to back up anyone if they need it.
It was only three days, that's not bad at all.
Finally! No more Meteor, Flare, or Ultima to worry about. The Heroes tore at it with every last bit of strength they had. Finally, at long last, it emitted a quiet keening groan and collapsed heavily on its side. It lay still.
Victory. Friggin'. Fanfare.
The doors to the Colosseum slid open, and Rukia dropped to one knee with a shaky sigh of relief. She was completely exhausted, but happy. "Well done," she panted, chuckling. "You all fought magnificently."
no subject
She looked from Rukia to the other two. "How you guys holdin' up?"
no subject
"All in a day's work! I need more challenges like this in my life. I was almost not bored for a few minutes there!"
no subject
Looks like Mr. Kuwabara exhausted himself. Man, did he need a damn nap.
"Yeah-- man we got 'im good damn."
