AWAKENING
Re: AWAKENING
Hari...?
[And her Moogle 'assistant' isn't around either.]
no subject
Uh. [His attempts to brush the wet dirt off his Sage do not remove the stains.] Who's idea was this to knock people out and drag 'em outside? This is one of the worst pranks I have ever been part of.
no subject
Prank?
[Nanami couldn't even think of people who hated her. Unless it was someone who was hiding their true nature until they could strike back at her...]
no subject
Don't know why they'd bother draggin' us all out here. [He squints and turns around to catch a glimpse of the walls of Aqures Ixen in the distance.] If only I had Annie here so I could teleport us back...
[And in his search, he spots the other two members of the group.] Rialynn? Ramza? You two? [He rushes to the nearest of them to check if they're doing alright.]
no subject
[That might not be very useful, but it's what she's got.]
[Hearing her name seems to stir her senses, and her lashes flicker before she blearily opens her hazel eyes to see...the sky? Barkeep she expects, but not the quiet of the great outdoors compared to the noise of the saloon.]
[She starts before scrambling to sit up, looking desperately around her. Nanami...she remembers her from that vision they all shared. And Ramza's here too. Were all of them at the saloon just now?]
...What happened...?
[Her fingers curl around the flute she's holding, and she looks down at it before tucking it into the sash at her waist. She's got a pair of small throwing knives in her boots, but she's not too easy waking up in the wilderness without her rapier. She looks around, trying to discover something familiar before she looks at Ramza again. She can see that he's breathing, but even so, it's best they all go to check on him too.]
no subject
Thankfully, he is armed. It goes a long way to calming him. He pulls himself up into a sitting position and looks around.]
What...what is this?
[He turns to examine Rialynn, Barkeep, and Nanami in turn. Is anyone injured?
no subject
Didn't hurt me. [His robes are dirty and his hair looks more like wild moss, but he can move around just fine. He bends over and holds out a hand for the bad.] Last thing I remember was lettin' the water run for my bath.
[A pause.]
Great, the house is gonna be flooded when we get back.
Hickory what?! Potential what?!
[Despite their situation, she can't help cracking a faint smile at Barkeep's wry remark.]
I'm sure one of your Moogles will notice it and turn off the water.
[She takes a few steps to find that her legs work fine, and she doesn't feel any aches or bruises. Not even her head hurts, which she kind of expected after losing consciousness. She probes her head with her hands just to be sure, then shrugs.]
I'm okay. But this place is completely unfamiliar to me. What about you guys?
Re: Hickory what?! Potential what?!
[Nanami fished out her Crystal]
I guess we haven't been transported to a third world, or we wouldn't still have these, would we?
Barkeep, you have a son and never told Ramza? T_T

EVENT: THE FORSAKEN PLAY
[ As he announced the play to come, the large man on the stage was very dramatic in his movements. He turned around and erupted in laughter, before turning back to the audience. ]
Bwahaha! But it would seem we’re missing the leading roles! And so, ladies and gentlemen watching this play, as is tradition you will be the stars of this story! And first, let us pick who shall be Princess Snow Black!
[ He looked down at the audience for a moment, and after quite a while finally pointed at Ryalinn, asking her to get up and go behind the stage. ]
Re: EVENT: THE FORSAKEN PLAY
[Wait, he's pointing at her? Rialynn sits up straight, blinking in surprise, before a smile of delight crosses her face. Wow, really? She glances at her friends with a little shrug, obviously okay with the idea, and rises to her feet to sidle past them to hasten down the aisle.]
[Sure she planned on just watching, but this could be a lot of fun. It'll probably make for another good story to add to her repertoire, too.]
[Rialynn ducks behind stage, ready to don whatever costumes and wigs are necessary. Acting isn't too different from story telling, she's confident she can give the audience a good performance.]
no subject
These Imperials have shown their group such kindness. He hopes Rialynn's performance will help pay back their generosity in some way.]
no subject
Now, as for her lover! Yes, no other than the most famous heartbreaker and rebel on all of the continent, Djidane...
[ He" looked through the audience for a moment before pointing at Ramza. ]
This vigorous and handsome young man!
[ And back to the audience. ]
Only two roles left! General Beate, the most powerful and fearsome warrior on the Continent will be... [And for this one, he pointed at Nanami, asking her to get behind the stage along with Ryalinn and Ramza.] And finally, our kind regent whose fated duel with the evil empress was written in prophecies from times long gone--
[ And to conclude, he pointed at Barkeep. Unsurprisingly, he picked the four newcomers. Fresh blood always makes for far more entertaining plays after all. ]

[Wrestling the dress over her head, she drops the fluffy skirts over her own dress and makes sure the sleeves are appropriately poofy. Then she gathers up her hair to bare the nape of her neck, just enough so she can zip up the gown without any horrible, horrible casualties. Shifting her bandanna to look like more of a headband scarf, she feels she's as ready as she can be. And here come the...others?]
Ramza?
[Then Nanami, and the boss too! Rialynn looks between them all, surprised...then delighted, and a smile spreads across her face. Yay!]
Well that was nice of them to choose all of us!
[She doesn't even look bothered to be acting beside Ramza as lovers. Why? Because it's a play, and it isn't real. As long as they don't have any kissing scenes, she honestly has no problems playing up a role. Which is why she's bustling with the other stagehands to get them their costumes and help them get ready, all the while offering encouragement. 'You'll be great!' 'Oh, that's a great pose to strike, make sure to do that!']
[Look, she's just really looking forward to this. You don't even know.]
no subject
[As he is fitted with his gaudy outfit, he thinks to ask] Is the role of the lover a silent role?
[Even in the face of this horrific challenge, it seems Ramza's hope springs eternal.]
no subject
Poor boy...but then he's chosen to play the part of the regent. The Barkeep jumps up and claps a few times in excitement. It's been years since he last got to do something fun like this. He jobs backstage and waits in line for his costume.]
We got any outline of the story, or is this all improv?
no subject
[Well, Nanami might be a bit put out not playing the lead, but maybe they wanted an actual adult so the romance scenes wouldn't be creepy. And they at least had given her an important part.]
no subject
We do not even know the ending. Is this a story of triumph, or tragedy? Can we not give our parts to someone who knows the story?
no subject
[Rialynn shrugs in response to Barkeep's question.]
The narrator tells the scene, and we act it out as best we can through improvisation. I'm sure they'll have their own actors to guide us, so all we have to do is respond to what they say and do.
[Nanami seems ready and eager, and Barkeep seems to be onboard as well. Ramza is the only one showing any hesitation, and a surprising amount at that. He always was a humble sort of guy, so she can see where he's coming from.]
Ramza, you played make believe games when you were a kid, didn't you? Using sticks as swords, shouting words of challenge, things like that? It's no different here. Just react to the situations the way you would react, if this were actually happening to you. We can practice a little, if that will put you at ease.

Rialynn Kollmann - OTA
[She can't just indulge in their generosity without giving anything in return. For the rest of the day, Rialynn's been scarce among the others of her group, instead flitting from place to place to help where she's needed. She can mend clothing, soothe cuts and bruises with a 'magic' chant that works particularly well on those under the age of nine, and even take a few of the older children to the river so they can fish together. The journey ahead of them will be a harsh one, and she can't help fearing for their safety. Are the adults capable of fighting monsters? Can they possibly protect so many kids if a monster happens to show up?]
[These questions plague her feverishly as she dawdles on the outskirts of camp, several yards away from the tents with the polite excuse of needing to stretch her legs and get some air. She rubs a hand over the back of her neck, frowning, and thinking about her options. They must return to Aqures Ixen and find out what happened to them, as well as inform the others that such a thing happened at all. But they can't just leave these people to fend for themselves, can they?]
[Maybe...maybe she'll stay. At the very least, stay until they've made it to Esdham, or Nabila, whichever they happen across first. She's not sure she could live with herself if she left them on their own, and discovered that their abandonment led to tragedy.]
[Her hand falls from her neck to brush at the wood flute sticking out of her skirt pocket. She draws the instrument and brings it up, pursing her lips, and blowing softly to draw a single, soft note. Her fingers slide to the notches and holes carved into the polished wood, altering the pitch. It's a quiet, simple melody, one of the first she'd learned to play, and one that still manages to put her troubled mind at ease.]
[The others might not agree with her decision, but she's made up her mind. When they travel onward, it will be with one less bard than they started out with.]
Forsaken Play - Intermission
Now that is what I call actin'! I was watchin' the whole time, and lemme tell ya, you guys got a natural talent for improv.
Forsaken Play - Intermission
Barkeep is right. You guys were incredible. Hard to believe that was your first time on a stage!
