AWAKENING
no subject
He then quickly lifted himself off the ground, tipping his head back to look up at the sky, but finding only vague outline of a ceiling that effectively prevented him from even being able to tell the time. Hanafuda didn't answer his calls, either, and while it was with some relief that he found himself still being able to use his magic, it hardly eased his concerns as he began to walk along one of the stone walls.
Left on his own, he proceeded without making any noise, so as not to draw unnecessary attention to himself. ]

What the fuck?
[It's not that life hasn't prepared him for this moment. He's pretty sure of what he's gonna have to do, and it's not like it's coming at him out of the blue. He had always half-expected the Nonary Games to come back to haunt him. But that doesn't mean he's not allowed to be PISSED.]
[After a few moments of cathartic swearing, he finally loses a little steam and starts preparing himself to get this shit done.]
no subject
He shoots Santa a slightly nervous grin.]
Well well. Fancy meeting you here.
no subject
[All this time she thought she was alone, until she hears a familiar voice uttering one of his all-time favorite words.]
Santa?
[It sounds like he's not far from her. Maybe he's even behind the wall she's following.]
Santa, is that you? It's Keiko! Hold on!
[She starts to hurry, casting anxious glances in the direction of his voice.]
no subject
[He finds Ed first.]
Don't fuckin' sneak up on me, you asshole!
[He's still freezing, and he's getting blisters on his feet, so excuse him for being testier than normal. His candid reaction to Ed's sudden appearance seems to draw Keiko's attention from further down the winding hallways.]
Shit, how many people are here?
no subject
As the voices grew in volume, Ace found himself being unable to recognize them, but it was, nevertheless, the only clue he could follow. By the time he reaches the slumber party-goers, they seem to have already formed a small group, so he takes his time
creeping in the backgroundconsidering each one of them before making his appearance known. At least one of these people wasn't a complete stranger. His face is frozen in a light frown, and, having the fortune of wearing a fairly respectable attire consisting of a simple uniform, and most importantly - shoes, he's probably not the best fit. ]
I haven't seen anybody else.
no subject
I have no idea how big this place is. I'm glad that I found anyone at all, really. Even Santa.
[He's got to get the jabs in while he can.]
So. Anyone know how they got here?
no subject
You alright?
[If Ed's gonna rib on him like that, then he's perfectly fine leaving him for last. Once he's made sure Keiko's ok, he addresses him.]
No, didn't see a damn thing. Whoever brought us here isn't a complete amateur. [Even if they didn't even give them arm bands or introductory puzzles to solve. Santa's not impressed with their labyrinth, but at least the kidnapping part was well executed.]
no subject
[She can hear two other distinct voices, but they're aren't ones she recognizes immediately.]
[Unfortunately, she's still following the wall, so her steps are taking her further and further away while she searches for the right turn that will lead her back toward the others. She's quite a ways away when she calls out again.]
Hey, a treasure chest! Er...is that normal?
no subject
Let's pretend that this timeline totally works and there have been no continuity errors.Ace makes nothing of the reaction, finding at least some comfort in knowing that he's not meant to traverse the maze completely on his own. What kind of team he's dealing with remains yet to be seen. The boy tilts his head to the side, thinking. ]
We have been forcefully teleported across large distances... and timelines, before. There could be another Avatar standing behind this.
[ There's little point in making introductions yet, so his answer is simple. ]
... There seems to be four of us in total.
[ He's lost at the mention of the treasure chest, however, having not found anything of the sort on his side. Still, what is the worst that could happen...? ]
no subject
[Ed rambles up towards Keiko and the chest, looking it over.]
Normal's pretty subjective too, but it seems fitting for a maze, doesn't it? Whattaya say, gang. Should we give it a go?

EVENT: THE ANCIENT REFUGE
And as soon as they would be together once more, before having a chance to touch the door they would hear a mechanism activating in the distance. They couldn’t see the effects of it, but surely this couldn’t be anything too bad. ]
Re: EVENT: THE ANCIENT REFUGE
[The sound of that grinding and groaning in the distance cuts her mirth short. Keiko stiffens, standing up straight as she looks around for signs of anything changing.]
What was that...?
[She kind of feels like they should open that door up in a hurry, but maybe that's a trap just waiting to be sprung.]
no subject
They have spent so much time wandering around, who knows if they'll even get another chance. ]
Let's try with the door again, quick!
no subject
As it slowly lifts, the group can see a dark, metal hallway behind the door. The end of the tunnel is shrouded in blackness, and they aren't able to make out where it leads from where they're standing.
By now, the door has opened three-fourths of the way. The machinery shakes more violently until it stops. Then silence.]
no subject
Quick, everyone! Move your asses!
[The exit's not on this side of the door, so Santa's not getting trapped here. He moves through, trusting the others to follow or deal with being left behind.]
no subject
[Despite saying that, Ed still hesitates for a moment, before going through. It was hard to trust the darkness down that hallway. But if something awful was going to happen, he'd rather it happen to him than the kids he was with. He darts ahead to keep up with Santa.]
no subject
[Nope, they're already moving through at top speed. Keiko makes a frustrated noise, then follows the others. Maybe they'll find another treasure chest on the other side. There seems to be a lot of those, and she'd feel a lot better if they still have the option of going back.]
[Bolting into the darkness, is anyone really surprised when Keiko trips and falls flat?]
Oof--!
[At least she got through the door.]
no subject
Once inside, he immediately sets out to cast a Fire spell, but an unsettling thud breaks his focus, the sound followed by a groan.
A trap, already...? A small flame springs to life when he makes another attempt at the spell, revealing the aftermath of Keiko's unfortunate stunt. For a moment he just blinks at her, as if frozen in place, before extending his free hand to the girl on the floor without saying anything. ]
no subject
Partway through the trek, it slams behind them with a terrible noise, leaving them only with a fait yellow light coming from a room up ahead.]
no subject
[Santa seems remarkably comfortable with this whole process. He walks with brisk steps toward the light.]
Keep an eye out for anything that looks outta place. It could be a clue or a puzzle piece.
no subject
[Fortunately, nothing shoots at them, and there aren't any giant boulders rolling after them to spur their steps. She jumps when the door abruptly closes, but at least there's an exit up ahead. At least she hopes so.]
[She looks at Santa up ahead, and actually kind of admires his confidence. He seems like he knows what he's doing, as if he's been in this sort of situation before.]
Oh, um... Right. I'll see what I can find.
[Keiko studies the darkened corridor as best she can, resisting the urge to anxiously bite the tip of her thumb.]
