Out with the old....
Who: Everyone
What: New Year's.
When: Dec. 31st, New Year's Eve, to Jan 1st, New Year's Day.
Where: Everywhere
Summary: It's New Year's, and the people of Luceti have a lot to reflect upon, and to look forward to. And on a more meta level, new journal names.
Rating: We'll see...
New Year's brings images of crowds, and songs, and fireworks; staying up til midnight and watching balls or bells being rung. But Luceti is a different time and place. Whether you're partying with friends or watching the sunrise, what are you doing today?

Her fingers twitch with every explosion. She reminds herself that all of these explosions are too high-pitched and unevenly paced to be firearm detonations. There are no Covenant forces to fire them against.
It's going to be a year. She is not in Harvest. She will never return to Harvest.]

[Why are you all the way over here Daisy? Fuuko had quite the time trying to seek you out.]
Enjoying the fireworks? [Taking a seat next to the taller girl and looking up and the sky.]
no subject
I don't know if I've seen much like it before...
[And to think she used to joke about explosives back in the mines being used as fireworks.]
no subject
[Looking from the sky to smile at Daisy, it's nice to see her lean back and loosen up a little.]
Fuuko finds the globe fireworks to look best, though catherine wheels have their own appeal to them also!
no subject
But the mutter of fireworks with specific shapes puzzles her.]
Globe fireworks? Wheels?
[Daisy looks upwards. Her fingers clench instinctively with one explosion... But she sees the dots forming infantile shapes.
More shapes prior to her call of duty linger from the back of her mind.]
How do they make those shapes?
no subject
[Pointing her hand towards the sky as she watches another firework go off.]
It's strange how they do that, not even Fuuko knows. Kotomi-san might be able to tell us about them though. All Fuuko knows is that they have a fuse and gunpowder inside them.
[Lowering her hand to observe more of the fireworks as a number go off in quick succession and light up the sky. It all looks very beautiful to Fuuko.]
no subject
She hates the feeling.
Daisy twitches when another one goes off, but she turns to Fuuko. Somehow, looking at the little girl in peace with the fireworks gets to calm her.
A wheel. that's what Fuuko meant.
She finally notices the dots from where the lights come from the ground, and detonate on the sky.]
I never thought I'd see them in Luceti. It always seemed like a place too small to see things like these.
[She sees another one. Daisy braces herself this time for the burst - its' easier for her to bear it when she expects it, in any case.]
I've met her... [A very eccentric girl, too.] I think she spoke all known human languages of Earth.
no subject
[Something catches Fuuko's eye in Daisy's direction. Fuuko thought it was nothing at first, but when another firework goes off and Daisy twitches again she can't just write it off as nothing.]
Kotomi-san is very clever like that. She knows more about the starfish than Fuuko probably ever will, but she always answers any questions Fuuko might have about them.
[...]
Daisy-san, are you alright?
no subject
Fuuko? [...] The fireworks just startle me.
[It happens when you fight for so long it's all you hear.]
... They make me a little nervious, ma'am.

Oh, hello, Daisy. Aren't you going to the party?
no subject
I... didn't know where to look for everyone.
[It's a partial lie. She wanted someplace to know where to find some friends of hers, but away from the fireworks. Even then, she would still hear them no matter how far she was.
She hates this feeling. Not knowing what to think. Not finding enjoyment where normal people do.]
no subject
Oh, I know where it is. Why don't we go together?
no subject
Yes, ma'am.
[She stands up to her full height, and walks towards Grune, straight as ever, only betrayed by instinctive finger clenches when she hears the fireworks.
As soon as Daisy gets close to Grune, her arm wraps around hers. A gesture needy of safety she swore she had gotten rid of it long ago.]
no subject
Are you all right, Daisy?
no subject
It's just the sounds. They startle me.
[More than she'd admit. Even the smell of gunpowder is making her uncomfortable. While Daisy tries to remain as solid as ever, she remains close to Grune.
There is a tinge of fear.]
no subject
...Why don't we go inside for a little while?
no subject
Or of Halsey. But Daisy feels bad to even compare Grune's hold with that monster.
The taller girl stays still for an instant, then nods as if she had command over her.]
Yes, Grune.

But when he does, he sidles over to Daisy, a curious expression on his face.]
... Ms. Daisy...?
[... He's worried. Many of his friends are out of sorts. Is Daisy?]
no subject
More people are around the village than she thought. She feels regret to be seen like this.]
Hi, Robert.
[Her arms are tightened around her. Her voice is steady, but she expected her body language to be more reserved.]
no subject
Still, it's enough to make him sidle in, trying to be comforting or at least trying not to add to the anxiety she's feeling.]
... Are you... quite alright, here by yourself...?
no subject
Just a little nervious. It's the fireworks.
[Damn this place.]
no subject
... The... the fireworks...?
[Why would they frighten Daisy? He's certain she must understand them...]
... M-Might... might I ask why...?
no subject
They sound a little like weapons. It takes experience to tell one from the other.
[Some silence. Robert is calmer than her right now.]
It's just the explosions. how the feel.
no subject
Almost shyly, he offers Daisy one small, thin hand to hold.]
... I... I am sorry...
[For once, he's cognizant of how disturbing that must be.]
... Should... should we go... e-elsewhere?
no subject
Yeah. I'd like that.
[For someone of her size and ability, she walks too close to Robert.]
Maybe we can get someplace covered. Just to hamper the sounds.
