SONBOY ARRIVAL

[personal profile] jesterlies 2025-06-07 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
[WELL.]

[That sure was not what he expected from today.]

[He leaves Pavlova to rest, hoping its not fitful. He has ...quite a lot on his mind actually! As he leaves the room. Complicated thoughts and emotions swirling through him. He is happy to see Pavlova, though his relationship to him feels almost like the ghost of another. He was the Fount back then, and he had renounced so much of that person since his fall.]

[And yet, he hadn't wanted to relinquish this, apparently.]

[Hn. The Guardian is going to have questions for him, he suspects. Time to blind fumble his way through the kitchen for tea. He makes an awful clattering to get her attention.]

[There she is, good, his ploy worked to summon her (no.) He whirls around and looks roughly 30 degrees off from where she is.]

Out like a light! Poor little cherub was terribly strung out. I’ve explained the situation to him, but he handled as well as anyone can expect.

[Hm. How to make demands of someone whose house he’s freeloading in.]

[Oh. Oh, he didn’t even have to say anything, he was so prepared to argue about it.]

[He tries to wipe how startled he is off his face and clears his throat.]

He can stay with me for the time being. I can always move into the atelier.

He’s the son of Beasts, I was preparing for any scenario! You own this house not me!

[Now he’s flustered, don’t look at him.]

Good, fine, then we can work with that. He deserves his own room as soon as we can complete it!

[Oh she did say it. And it rings as Truth.]

[He looks bewildered to say the least, even if its a truth that's been staring them both in the face for some time. He gapes like a fish before, trying once again, to get his emotions under control.]

[He breathes and. Pats around a little for the table so he can also take a seat. He left his staff elsewhere its fine.]

A surprise, I imagine, that we might have been cookies like anyone else before our downfall?

[Ah- that's. Meaner than he meant it to come out. He's frazzled. He shakes his head, almost in apology.]

What I mean is- his mother is Eternal Sugar Cookie, who was once the Virtue of Happiness. The Beast of sloth. She came to me once, when I was still the Fount of Knowledge, and wanted a cure for her loneliness.

[His laugh is a little bitter. Hadn't they all wanted something like this.]

Given that I was Knowledge itself, I knew how to make cookies, so I helped her, and Pavlova Cookie was the result. The Father he knows is that person, the Fount, not me. I haven't seen him in thousands of years, and not since his Mother withdrew into her garden with him.

[Well. sort of. That's a little bit of a lie, he saw him for a moment when he came into the garden to get berries but, that's not relevant. He had a lot on his mind then, it wasn't exactly a touching reunion.]

We weren't. Even as the Fount, I barely got the opportunity to spend time with him. His mother ... [he takes a deep breath.]

[Let's it out.]

I hadn't noticed at the time her own corruption. We were all beginning to slip at that point. It wasn't something we should have done, and I know Pavlova Cookie has suffered for it.

[Being able to look back on it, and see it outside his own madness and corruption is surreal and frankly, upsetting.]

I despise that he's traded one prison for another.

[He seems satisfied with that. Given how she's treated him so far after they both lost Vanilla, he doesn't think she would be so cruel as to mistreat Pavlova just because of their relation. He's been at the mercy of this cruel twist of fate from the start. he truly had not choice but to appease his mother from the beginning.]

There is something else.

[He speaks a little quieter.]

When I look at him, something about him is screaming lie at me, and I can't quite figure out what.

cw: hallucinations

[personal profile] jesterlies 2025-06-11 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
It ...seems to be his appearance, which is strange because he looks the same as I remember...?

[But that was so long ago. His state of mind has been altered so much since then. Are his memories just lacking? No, no, it can't possibly be that. His memories are razor sharp, and always have been. So what.]

[And then Shadow Milk jumps out of his chair, Startled, eyes looking around wild though they can't see anything.]

[That was his voice, he knows it. He heard it, where the FUCK did that come from?]

[He doesn't know, he wants to say, because he lost his access to All Knowledge and has no way to just pull the info he needs. Instead he's looking blindly around the kitchen for the source of the voice looking somewhere between panicked and furious.]

-You heard it, didn't you?! I know I heard his voice! Where is he!?

[Huh??]

[There’s a. Startled pause before Shadow Milk reaches out a hand and calls his staff.]

[No sign of the Fool King…]

What was that.

[Hallucinations from stress. Is that True, though? Does that read as Deceit? He does look, because while sure, he could believe that, it doesn't seem Right.]

[Is he worried...? No, he shouldn't be. This isn't his business. He's probably the one at fault for her stress anyway.]

If you hear him again, tell him I've got a bone to pick with him.

[Which husband? yes.]

Foolish Kings, all of them.

[Hm. Noted. Filed away. Something he will stick his nose into late-]

[You can almost hear the record scratch, the way Shadow Milk's hackles immediately rise when he actually gets a response from the hallucination. there is a dark fury that comes over him, something hot in his blood. A violence he has not felt in some time.]

[When he speaks his voice drips in malice.]

If I'm to be sent back to Hell then it will be to greet you, you treacherous worm!

[Is he aware that its a false illusion? yes. Does he care? Absolutely not. He's been holding his tongue about Elder Faerie for so long out of respect for the Guardian and the roof over his head but Creators alive what can he do when its right there.]

[He chokes down whatever nasty thing he was going to say next when she raises her voice at him. He's expecting anger, but her tone isn't, so it catches him off guard. Sends an uncomfortable feeling through him.]

[He simmers down a little, but the way his hair boils like water and the shadows in the room with them start to writhe, he's still all but willing to continue.]

They should learn to hold their tongue when I can hear. Had I not been sealed I could wipe whatever cognitive cancer is clinging to you out with just a thought.

[Really. Really, did you think he would not respond to that one too? He doesn't rile up like before at least, though his hair begins to move again. His voice instead, is just low and dangerous. His voice like a snake, full of venom.]

Did you think wrong? Of shackling the virtue of Freedom to a position utterly antithetical to her calling? How utterly cruel, and because you were too weak to withstand your comeuppance for what you did. You are the biggest fiend of them all and you always have been, Fool King.
