Mini-Vacation from your Vacation, chere?
Who: The crew of the Stargazer & Rogue.
Where: The sea?
When: 10/01 - 10/08
What: Specifically, Rogue and Gambit have a good time in the rain. And other week shenanigans.
Warnings: Cute where it has no place being
Style: whatever
Status: Closed
The Stargazer is a humble little sailboat, enough room for three and right now they're at maximum capacity with an extra guest. Who is stuck on board for a week. While Gambit expects the Princess and Rogue to get along real good - he's not so sure about how the next seven days will pan out. They'll just have to find out...

[After Rogue is finally let out of the cabin (after lots of yelling through the door to convince Gambit that she is, in fact, in control of herself), she spends the rest of the day doing what she can to help out on the little boat.
And she's on deck when the downpour begins.
She gives a kind of shriek that gives way to laughter. ...Because the rain is pink. And, besides, it doesn't really matter if her make-up gets ruined. Bound to happen sooner or later.]
10/02-10/08
[After a very eventful first day?
Well. Rogue's determined to prove herself useful. Which means working hard. Scrubbing, painting, tacking. A sailboat's nothing by now. It's familiar, especially with the few taps she's gotten from people who know their way around boats like this.]
10/1
Would like t'see dat mo' often, chere.
[It wasn't as if the mast was that tall, talking a bit loudly was all he had to do about it from the yardarm.]
no subject
What? Me workin' a boat?
[She shrugs a bit.]
Been here long enough t' pick things up. Though--
[She gives a nod toward the horizon, where stormclouds are fast approaching.]
Don' much like th' look of that.
no subject
[Remy snickered from his perch and rolled up to his feet, walking the length of the yardarm with easy, even steps that accounted for the pitch and roll of each wave. Seems he'd gotten used to living on the ocean.]
Don' seem dat bad.
[He says it but really... those stormclouds were a bit too dark for his tastes.]
no subject
[She almost smiled as she said it, looking up at him.
Because, really, he brought it on himself.
Though, those clouds...]
Ain' dealt with a storm before. Not here, I mean.
no subject
[He says it as he slides down a rope tied down the length of the mast and lands on the deck beside her.]
Great. So we don' know what we're dealin' with.
[And the Nav is kaput still....Well, let's just hope it's not a hurricane.]
no subject
Yes. That's the way to go.]
Only thing I remember is t' furl the sails.
...Sail, this case.
[Which they've got done.]
no subject
[Rogue's nerves sort of trickle into Gambit and he smiles as crazily as he knows how.]
Let's try t' have some fun, yes?
no subject
[Her tone says she already knows the answer to that.
But then there's a flash.]
...Is that lightning...
[Yes, Rogue. It's pink.
And with the roll of thunder comes a sudden downpour from the clouds.
Also pink.
She is not at all proud of the yelp she gives at the sudden water.]
no subject
...Am I de only one seein' pink?
[Speaking of which those clouds look a lot less....not pink than they should. What the hell?]
no subject
[She's a bit... mystified as the rain keeps falling, but it also makes her laugh a little. Because the rain is pink. And falling hard.
What the hell will this place think of next?]
no subject
And he smiles. A private little thing, very unlike his creepy, sly grins that made people think they'd lost an absurd amount of money at that precise second.]
Don' t'ink I've ever heard you laugh before, chere.
[And, damn, it's a nice sound.
He can ignore the rain for that, right?]
no subject
She flashes a smile at him.]
Guess there ain' usually much cause, way we tend t' meet.
[Attempted murder, threatening boys at her school, kidnapping.
These things don't lend themselves to levity.]
Maybe you should come 'round more when things ain' goin' t' Hell.
no subject
[He's a liar. Well sort of. Adrenaline junkies rarely know if it's the danger or the idea of death that gets them going.]
Still. Fo' you I'd make world peace happen. If y'wanted.
[...Well that left his brain easily.]
no subject
[But it's very affectionate.
Like that's a good quality for him to have.]
An' here you are, provin' me right. With world peace, you'd die of boredom.
Course, I prob'ly would too.
no subject
[It'd certainly make stealing from other countries easier.]
Y' gotta open yo' mind t'de possibilities.
[But seriously he would get bored quickly. Arguing with her is too much fun.]
no subject
[She chuckled again, shaking her head. She didn't even want to imagine what he'd get up to with world peace in place.
Instead, she smiles a bit and puts her gloved hand against the crook of his elbow, on the jacket.]
C'mon.
That coat o' yours don' look waterproof t' me, an even your cards don' hold up too well 'gainst a lotta water.
[She gives a small tug, nodding toward the hatch to go below decks.
Somewhere they could at least start to dry off.]
i give up
He gave a cursory squint up at the sky, like he needed to make sure it was in fact - raining pink and blew a noisy, silly breath out before looking back at her and smiling.
For once it looked genuinely happy. ]
No, yo' right, no' as water resistant I'd like.
just let it happen
Him.
Not Gambit. Not an Acolyte. Not a thief. Just him. Smiling at her.
But that was dangerous. Because it was a really nice smile.
A smile that made her hate her powers. That she couldn't get close to anyone. For all her time with the X-Men, that hadn't ever changed.
What she'd said to Scott was still true.
She couldn't have that. And it made her smile lessen, her hand lift off his arm and retract a little.]
Should prob'ly get below then. Get outta the rain.
no subject
Y'still comin'?
[There's a crack about her makeup just waiting...]
no subject
[Her makeup's shot at this point, and she knows it, but she doesn't really care.]
no subject
But right now he can't. Not when she's looking at him like that.]
Prettiest I've ever seen.
[He's about ten pounds heavier than he was before the rain started, thanks to his boots and coat. Time to head in.]
no subject
Think you're real charmin', don' you?
[But, well. Right now? He kind of was.
It'd be nice to take his hand. Just see what he'd do if she tried. Probably make fun of her the rest of her life. But...
But she knew better. Knew to ignore that temptation.]
no subject
So I've been told.
[Remy lifts the grate up and manages to get down the stairs without slipping on the pink water.
no subject
Still, that done and out of the way of the water still coming through the grating, she smiles a bit again.]
Pink rain. Who'd've thought?
[Because it's easier to laugh about that than to admit she's thinking that he can actually be pretty sweet when he's trying. And charming when he's not looking to come off as slick.
When he's just... him.
Probably just a flirt. No real intent behind any of it. But... the attention's still nice.]
