[It had been... an interesting night, to say the least. Most of it had gone just fine—it was a standard carnival with the games and food that they can always enjoy together, and then there was that labyrinth that she somehow stumbled into unbeknownst to her. She thought it would just be a fun little attraction, only to discover that it was, in fact, not.
And then there was that strange creature that had tried to... bite her? Only for Eustace to have shooed it off.
Needless to say, she's exhausted, and as comfortable and cute as her outfit was, she's glad to finally be changing out of it and putting it away with the rest of the costumes to pull out again for another event that will no doubt roll in where they can use them.
...
And it's only then, as she hangs it all up at the back of their closet that she sees that flash of red...]
Huh...
[It's a breathless sound of curiosity, and although the shower is still running, she still glances over her shoulder to double check that Eustace is preoccupied before she's pulling out the old costume... the one from their very first Halloween here. Before he even knew who she was or why she was so surprised to find him on the pier only a month before.
It's funny, how something so simple could stir so many memories, as her fingers roam over the different light fabrics. How easily she can remember the events that had unfolded that night, and how it had been the first time she'd felt his breath on her skin...
...
It brings a sharp tingle that shoots up and down her spine, Tifa shivering even in the warmth of their bedroom.
She had no idea back then, did she? No idea what sort of thoughts this costume and those memories would awaken in her as she holds it in her hands two whole years later...
By the time Eustace is out, she is already waiting for him in bed, hiding with the covers pulled up halfway over her face to hide the flush that's crept up over her chest, neck, and into her cheeks. Not so out of the ordinary, but what is different is that the costume is laid out on his side of the bed, and her eyes will follow him, watching and waiting, half eager, half embarrassed, for his reaction...]
[After a nice relaxing shower, Eustace takes a few minutes to dry his hair, blowing it with the dryer (ugh he has such thick, fluffy hair...) before stepping out. And while he expected Tifa to be waiting in bed for him, he didn't expect to see her... Hiding?]
Why are you...
....
[And that's when he sees the costume.
.....
............
AND QUICKLY PROCEEDS TO GRAB IT TO SHOVE IT BACK IN THE CLOSET—]
[She's getting out of bed to try and stop him, revealing the lacy underwear that she's put on, but too late... It's already gone... And all she can do now is slowly pad across the room to him, not quite able to meet his eyes before she stops, her expression softening just a touch.]
That wasn't exactly the reaction I was hoping for...
[She bites down on her lip when he stops, and she does too, just an inch away from him. And it is taking every bit of restraint and confidence that she has to not wrap her arms around herself and leap back under the covers to hide from that speechless, confused, surprised stare of his. She doesn't do this often, and this doesn't exactly warrant a special occasion for it, but...]
I was hoping it would jog your memory...
[Another, shyer step towards him before she's standing right up against him, her warmth pressing into his, her fingers coming up to run a nail over his chest before she retreats, her face all flushed and coloured, her lashes fluttering as she takes a nervous breath.
She can hardly believe what she is about to ask of him...]
[Yes, that is the only thing he manages at the moment. Normally he could take her attempts at advancing on him well, usually cornering her in return. However given the sudden change of events and a bit of a mood whiplash, Eustace is briefly still stunned, trying to process it all.]
...Something else?
[Only now does he recall how last year he had been in a similar vampire costume. It wasn't the same as the one in his closet, so while he had been a little displeased at first at the time, he moved on it quick enough. Helped that Tifa had her own fetching costume at the time...
But this one still holds some of those ill feelings. A reminder of when he had been taken control of and almost...
In short, it wasn't what the costume was pretending to be, but that very specific costume.
He has an idea of what Tifa is suggesting, but he still can't help but furrow his brow.]
[That furrow of his brow makes her pause, stopping short and letting her hand fall away, and she meets his frown with a look of confusion.]
... Is something wrong?
[Is she overstepping? Did she say or do something? Was it the costume? Her mind is spiralling already, doubly embarrassed now that she might have misread the situation... misread him.]
He shifts a little with some uncertainty, realizing how he's making her feel and feeling bad for it himself. So he takes a small breath to try and explain.]
Sorry, it's...
[A small sigh as he rubs the back of his neck.]
That costume... It just reminds me of what happened... That time.
[Well. This is not how she was hoping it would go, and so when he rubs at the back of his neck, she just reaches up to take that hand in hers instead.]
...I mean, that was the point... to remind you of that night.
[But maybe she sees it in a different light. Granted, he had been acting really strange—she hasn't forgotten—but that isn't the part that she wanted him to remember.]
I'm sorry. I went about this all wrong. [A sheepish laugh as she squeezes his hand.] I just...
[She's too shy to say it!!]
There was something I had in mind. I really should've just told you...
[Her voice is firm, and she takes a step towards him, trying not to be so hesitant and timid about it, and she wraps her arms around him.]
I wanted... us to try something...
[She's just going to come out and say it so he doesn't have to worry about how she feels about whatever happened two years ago. If she knows him as well as she thinks she does, then there's something weighing on his mind, and she'd rather free him of it sooner than later.]
[She still feels absolutely terrible that she made him uncomfortable... and she bites the inside of her lip, her heart riddled with guilt that she'll try to push away too, when she feels him tug at her straps.]
Sort of...
[Her face is flushing again, that redness creeping down into her neck, and now she still can't quite make herself look at him. No way to beat around the bush with this one, is there?]
I was hoping that... we could go into one of my dreams tonight...
[—before she realizes that he means ten seconds to explain herself, and husband, that is not enough time for Tifa to do any of that!? She's already blushing like a tomato and her tongue already feels tied, so she's already wasted half of that just trying to compose herself as his hands start to wander.
She's going to buckle under this pressure!!! And the way he's looking at her!]
I... I wanted to... try...
[asdfjsfhgdf
Her voice goes into a quiet murmur.]
What if you got back in that costume in my dream, and you... you know...
[Yes, he is deliberately putting the pressure on in the clear attempt to make her cave. Not that he wouldn't actually listen, of course, but he is in a mood and when his wife is offering herself up so clearly.......
At the end of those seconds, his hands had already moved, one sliding over her back and the other at her hip as his face leans in. And while he had resisted going further out of "consideration"...]
...Hmmmm.
[His eyes bore into hers, the pale blues darkening.]
This?
[And that's her only warning before his head dips and his mouth goes to her neck, his pointed canines dragging roughly against her skin before he bites down.]
[She tries not to shiver too much under his gaze, but even that alone—never mind his hands at her back and her hip, or the way his mouth descends over her neck—is enough to make her knees weaken and buckle under her. This... it makes her arch into him instinctively, the flush across her skin deepening when he feels his teeth sink gently into her.
But not here—not yet.
Or so she will try to tell herself as she tries to gently nudge him away, though her fight is barely there.]
Yes, but... [She bites back a moan before the rest of it can escape, and the flowers that pulse red across their walls and ceiling betray her.] ... A little more.
[There's a sharper nip in response, teeth digging deeper into her skin as he sucks hard before he releases her, only to suddenly lift her up in his arms. Staring up at her, there's a dangerous glare in his eyes.]
More?
[He takes the few steps to carry her to the bed before he drops her on it, immediately following after as he looks over her.]
[He is rewarded with two very surprised gasps. Once, when he lifts her, and then another when he drops her onto her back where she sinks into the mattress, that spot on her neck already bruising a deeper red as she blushes up at him, a hand moving up to cover half her face.
She really does feel like a little rabbit right now, trapped once more in between a wall and the hungry teeth of a wolf.]
Well, some of it...
[It doesn't have to be all, but she has a feeling that once they do get started, neither of them will want to leave.]
We can just... do a little more in a dream than we can here.
[Her eyes glance to her bedside table, where a book sits. "Insatiable", it's called, a book about a vampire and a human girl who fall in love, though the cover seems to suggest it is about more than just love...]
