What's everyone doing? Got anything exciting planned? Um... maybe a stupid question but do other countries use the weekend the same way we do in the US? (time off from work/school?)

Me I'm doing nothing but mentally preparing myself for the family reunion that's happening next weekend...

My day started out well and now it's going to shit.

I might have to tell a very good friends that we can't be friends anymore. He used to be depressive and he's still not in a good place. I'm his go-to for everything. If he's having a very bad day it's me he calls. Most of his revelations about himself involved me and our friendship and most of the time it involved a lot of emotions.

I just can't do it anymore. I'm happy if I get through the day on my own at the moment and I start a new job soon which will need most of my resources.

I know it's for the best to distance myself but I really care for him and we had so many good times.

I just really need some hugs and maybe some fluffy/funny things to cheer me up please?

For me it's very close, but Snape's Worst Memory is my favorite. Not because of Snape or the marauders or Lily, but I find the concept of being able to see your parents when they were young incredibly fascinating. I also always liked that we were getting Harry's perceptive on the whole scene, and the ending of the chapter when you find out how much he cares about what his parents did even though he doesn't really remember them and hates Snape. I was never against CAPSLOCK!Harry (probably because I went through a very Capslocky phase myself) but was nice to be reminded of how good he is at heart that watching someone he hated being tortured brought out nothing but pity and sympathy.

I’ve recently got into Teen Wolf and found myself craving fic. The problem is, this universe being full of werewolves, and fandom being what it is, I seem to find mostly fic that is outright Omega-verse-ish, or has a lot of elements of it (knotting in particular seems to show up a lot) and I’m not into that. Maybe I’m just being unlucky, but it’s frustrating when Omega 'verse and its assorted elements are just not my thing, at all.

So, any Teen Wolf fic recs that are not full of Omega 'verse elements and/or knotting, that are well-written, and long fics would be absolutely fantastic (I’m a sucker for slow builds)? I definitely prefer Stiles/Derek, but really, anything good you want to rec.

I kind of just need validation on this. Several of my friends from high school have recently gotten married, and now several of the remaining single guys seemed to have realized that, and seemed to have taken that as a cue to focus their attention on me. I'm getting really weirded out, and I'm getting really bored and tired of them treating me like their personal MPDG. I've stopped hanging out with them because of them (and the couple of awkward confessions of them "really liking" me) but still getting texts/offers to hang out/wanting to see me from them.

How do I say no, tell them to knock it off, and still preserve my friendships? There are three of them doing this. I don't get it. At all. Except I think they're thinking that in five years they want to be married. Which I also don't get. I like being single. (Which is a whole other rant -- no one seems to really be okay with "single" people.)

Sorry, I just need to rant about this.

So I'm playing a visual novel, and this one has a Mr. Tall, Dark and Rapist love interest, like so many do. Except this one is really egregious. I mean, it's actually nauseating. It's so bad that at first, I sincerely thought, "Wow, this game is actually going to have a rapist character that gets his just deserts, awesome!" because it was so bad that I couldn't imagine how they could possibly turn it around to be rape=love, it really was that bad. But nooo. In the end, the protagonist basically says, "I know you raped me and beat me literally half to death and belittled me and verbally abused me and deliberately gave me a shred of hope just so you could sadistically crush it and raped me and beat me more, but my happy ending is staying with you forever!"

I swear, I almost punched my computer.

I get that some people like the rape-becomes-romance trope. It's not my thing, but I get it. And even when I haven't particularly enjoyed other rape-becomes-romance scenarios, I've gotten through them just fine. But this one was absolutely sickening.

I want a visual novel where the "good end" with the rapist character involves the protagonist shooting him through the head. Or calling the police on him and watching him marched away in handcuffs. Or escaping from the rapist and recovering and continuing on with life, never to see the rapist again. Or something other than Stockholm Syndrome taken to a revolting degree. Just once. The people who like the rape=love trope can have all the other ones, I won't begrudge them that. I just want one where the ideal end to a rape story does not involve staying with the rapist forever.

I'm going to finish the visual novel, because there's one character I absolutely adore and there's some really interesting things with the gameplay. But honestly, this game makes me doubt whether I want to get more games from this company. Until now, I've enjoyed most of their work, but this is just... ugh. Maybe I'll see if I can toss them an email instead and express my extreme disapproval that way.
