The more I have become politically active in my offline life, the less I have been interested in online discussions on politics. I just don't feel like arguing with people on the Internet over things that I fight against in my day to day life. It seems pointless in many cases and rather silly to talk about alongside my fic and ships. I do like to analyze fandom from a real-world perspective and don't think politics can ever be truly separated from fiction, so I do talk about political subjects on that level, but at the same time I personally don't use fandom as a place for political debates and prefer to spend that energy elsewhere.

To a degree, yes, agreed.

But we also have to hold space to call out bad things if they show up in fandom.

Yay it's fun to watch Try Guys, but if it turns out one of the bosses of the operation was misusing their position of power, it makes sense that the fans of Try Guys want to talk about Wife Guys, people who abuse their power, etc.
