Test Drive Meme - July/August

Welcome to sunny Alola! The sun is shining, and it is July! Which means it is the warmest, most tourist-y days of the year! And that means it is fun in the sun and there is plenty to do. As the summer days are out and the Pokemon School has yet to officially begin its school year, let’s give you some orientation prompts for the area.
1. Arrival
You’ve just arrived! While not an ideal prompt for your test sample, it makes for a good testing for your first reaction here! Having fallen, gotten off the boat or plane from another region, your passport is stamped and processed. If you’re a Native, there’s plenty to see, and can go about your day. But if you’re a Faller, there’s a tour guide waiting for you. Just hold on tight!
2. The Sandy Beaches
Perhaps you’ve had the time to acclimate yourself to the area, and just want to relax now. It’s time to relax in the sunny beach, throw yourself onto the sand and surf, and just chill. You’ve had a long, tough time, and now just want to sleep. Or maybe you’re too excited! This is another world, or another region! Perhaps you’ve been planning this trip to Alola for ages, and now its time to play! The choice is yours!
3. Shopping
What’s a trip to Alola without shopping. There’s food, accessories, more food, clothing, and tourism. Ride some Pokemon, find some things to do. Eat some malasada and shop at Aina’s Kitchen and Team Rocket’s Honey Donuts. If you want to escape the heat, there’s always the mall.
4. Pokemon!
Of course! Pokemon are everywhere. And maybe your Fated Encounter is upon you now. The Tapus are urging a Pokemon to come to you, be it in an Egg format to make its way into your hands, or perhaps a bird or a bug or whatever. Somewhere, a partner is waiting for you, you just have to meet them. And then, perhaps, you will be able to make friends! Just remember in this world? You don’t catch Pokemon -- Pokemon catch you.
5. Travel
There’s plenty to see on Melemele even in one day. There’s a lot of places to travel even by foot, and a lot of room, even in this place. There’s forests, hills, the town, the smaller suburbs, and beaches, an island off the coast, and the honey field even within walking range. Take time to explore and get to know the place, you may be staying for a while until the Ultra Guardians can send you home.
6. Battle
What is Pokemon life without Battling? Now that you have your Pokemon, you can battle with them. But Pokemon battles aren’t just about training but about forming a bond. There’s no such thing as levels in this world, the level system isn’t really a thing here. Sure there’s math and science to count the precise numbers of a Pokemon’s strength but we don’t dwell on this sort of thing. What’s important is forming these bonds with your Pokemon, and learning how to communicate with them, making precious ties with them. Eat, sleep and cherish them as your own family. Manalo, and Ohana. No one is left behind, or forgotten.
7. Freeform
Anything Goes! Come at you, this is a wide world, make up your own prompt!
seto kaiba | card games: tos (ygo)
Kaiba's first order of business, beyond cursing whatever powers might be at this inconvenient intrusion into his life, is to change his wardrobe. Long trench coats and turtlenecks don't exactly suit the island climate. He ruffles through clothing racks, huffing at bright print after bright print.
"Is there anything reasonable here?" he growls, after tossing another cute pair of Squirtle swim trunks aside. But he's soaked in sweat and needs to find something fast.
pokémon/beach
He eventually settles on a blue vest and black wetsuit, and heads out to the beach. Not that he's interested in joining the group fun, but it's where most seem to be gathered and he needs to know what he's dealing with.
There, he finds a slug-like creature wilting in the heat. That was...a Goomy? He'd learned the name in researching all local dragon types and immediately dismissed it as a weakling, but the poor thing was clearly out of its element. Well...it would be rather unpleasant for the beachgoers if it died, so Kaiba kneels next to it and digs a shallow pool in the sand.
He walks up to someone with an umbrella, frowning. "I'm borrowing this---" Sorry not sorry. He's planting it to shade the little pool.

Later, he takes what little money he has to the food court, where he partakes the strange selection. There are plenty of vegetarian options, of course, strange colas, and even onigiri---or is it?
"Jelly filled donut? This has to be a joke."
Goomy will happily eat it, though. He slithers his way onto Kaiba's lap and slurps it right off his hand, leaving the human to shudder. Just his luck.
Re: seto kaiba | card games: tos (ygo)
Someone gave Reira money. Probably the same someone who gave her clothes that aren't completely falling apart, though somehow they match the...tablet? On her arm.
It...looks like a tablet anyway.
The point is, someone handed this kid cash and said Go Get Food.
The tall guy isn't a fan. But the Goomy seems Thrilled.
Therefore-
"....is..a donut, a 'candy'...?" She asks, quietly and somewhat hesitantly.
no subject
"It's a sweet pastry. So not quite, but it's sugary if that's what you want."
He frowns at it. "But they don't normally look like this."
no subject
She seems genuinely focused on this matter. But, also-
"...what do 'donuts' normally look like..?"
Oddly, she's actually had a sweet shaped like a donut before.]
no subject
That's unusual. Must've been raised by strict parents...or worse, possibly. That possibility keeps him from dismissing the question outright.
He tugs out a napkin, delicately wipes at Goomy, and traces some of the jelly into a traditional ring donut shape.
"Like that. It's the texture of a cake...have you ever had cake?"
no subject
She's going to ponder that ring donut though. "Mnh- that looks like one of the candies... ...I don't know if one was a 'cake' though."
This is getting a little concerning.
no subject
"Look, if you want to try it so badly...Wait here."
Goomy is going to attempt to slither over and say hello in the meantime. Watch the slime, Reira. But soon enough, he returns and offers her a triangular donut.

Skidding around the corner, Ash exclaimed, "Brock! Oh... you're not Brock. Sorry sir, I thought you were someone else!"
He definitely didn't carry himself like Brock, but there was something similar about the man, like he was seeing something about the rock-trainer in him. Was his eyes playing tricks on him?

He feels a twinge of longing too. The kid's about Mokuba's age, and he's ferrying around a Pikachu. Kaiba makes a 'hm' and inclines his head.
"I don't know this Brock, but I'm Seto Kaiba. You're a local trainer, I take it?"
Goomy answers (or so it seems) by happily slurping on his donut.

"Pikachu," replied Pikachu, hopping off his shoulder and cheering at Gloomy.
"This is my buddy Pikachu, we've been together for years now throughout all the regions."
no subject
"And this is Goomy. He's too friendly. I apologize."
He attempted to slide over to Ash next, and Kaiba was quick to grab him.
"Is enrollment open?"

He turns to the rack---he's looked at simple polos, basic shirts, all manner of summer wear....he sighs.
"How long did it take you to find that?"

He points over at the poor Goomy wasting away in the heat. The shallow pool he's put him in helps some, but the creature still needs some help.

He's going to need a long swim after this. The Goomy eventually starts to revive, crawling to the pool's edge and blinking curiously at her.
"Oh look, he's saying hello."

Her little angel chara however floated down to start happily chatting with the pokemon.

I might have to look into commissions at this rate, if I can find a tailor willing to work with a newcomer. Paying them will be the hardest part.
