July EMP Meme
FOR GAME ADS: ➤ Put an ad up with the characters / crew / pairings / fetish you want for your game under the correct game header. This meme is primarily going to be focused on DWRP games but IJ and LJ games are allowed. ➤ PLEASE NOTE A RULE CHANGE HERE. ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding (no font size > size 4 or 3 "big" tags, no oversized banners (they must be 250px in height or less), no blinking text, no obnoxious table html that doesn't collapse easily, no sparklies, no large pictures). Use all the colors you like, but please remember 3 "big" tags is the limit and that's only for headers or title text rather than for all the text in an ad. FOR GAME QUESTIONS: ➤ RPers interested in a game can create a header for the game and ask questions about that game that aren't easy to find on faqs, such as the actual pace vs. what's listed/what kind of plots are run/if the game leans more towards plotty or slice of life/if a game leans more towards network or logs, etc. Both anon questions and anon answers are welcome in this section just like in the rest of the meme. ➤ This thread is not for speaking about wank or drama in a game. There are anoncomms that exist for that. This thread is specifically for general questions about a game that rpers want to get perspective on from players already in the game. Answers can be slightly negative (such as saying app response is slow or that the plots are repetitive or similar things) but this should at least be worded politely. Unnecessary vitriol, any mention of personal drama or wank, or mod teams/individual mods/players being singled out, will be either frozen or screened (based on what seems right based on the content). FOR CHARACTER ADS: ➤ Put up an ad about the characters you are offering. For PSL ads, there is a separate subthread but for character ads for games, post directly to the meme post. Others will comment to you with the games/casts they want you to join. ➤ There is a "Find a Castmate" section, where you can talk about a cast you play in at a game, and try to lure people to join it. Not all games post to the meme or have a "wanted" section, so players that want to tempt people to their cast on their own can use this section for it. Please format this the same as the PSL section, where you post your character's canons in your subject. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find a Castmate" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. When listing who's currently in a cast, please do this in sentence form (with commas) rather than in list form. ➤ There is a "Find Crosscanon" section, where you can talk about a character you play and and desired crosscanon for that character. Please make sure this is not too generalized a search, because just wanting general crosscanon can be accomplished with the other sections of the meme. This is for specific characters or character types you're looking for. In the subject, please list the "Looking for [canon you're looking for]" rather than your character's canon. If looking for a character type, list the character type in as few words as possible. Do not make the subject huge or I'll screen your comment. For the actual text of the ad you must use the "Find Crosscanon" form provided at the bottom of this post so that these ads don't get huge. This section is only for game crosscanon as in the psl section people can list their preferences. ➤ Examples of crosscanon you can search for: You play The Flash from DC Comics and your dream CR is fellow speedster Quicksilver from Marvel. Or you might play a witch and want cr with other witches in general. Or maybe you play a good character messed up by evil parents and want to play against a villain character you know has evil parents, because you know it'd lead to some interesting negative CR. ➤ ABSOLUTELY NO obnoxious coding, with the same rules as the Game Ads Section above. ➤ If you're recommending a game to someone, try to match your suggestion to their needs. It's okay if part of your game rec is copy-pasted (such as what the game's about), but at least some part of the rec must be personalized to their ad. Try not to recommend the same game to every single ad, either. Ad spam that isn't individualized in some way will also be frozen or screened. Keep in mind this needs to be more specific than "this game has easy AC like you're asking for but meets none of your other requirements." Make sure you're advertising games that might click with that specific character, where a few elements fit what they're looking for. You should be thinking about the story reasons of how the character might click with the game. IN GENERAL: ➤ Don't be a dick. This isn't one of the anoncomms, so any snide comments or unnecessary commentary on the RP plans of others will be frozen or screened. ➤ All mod responses regardless of whether they're rule breaks, correction requests (like someone posting in the wrong section), or thwapping someone for spamming copy-paste ads, have always been and will almost universally be public. If someone sends a PM and the conversation gets combative, this will also be made public and posted to the comments of the mod contact page. This is for the sake of transparency so people can judge the emp mod's communications for fairness themselves. There are times where the player's post may be screened (such as if they posted to the wrong section) but the mod's response will be left unscreened. ➤ Players may sometimes be allowed more than one strike for copy-paste ads since this is often just enthusiasm behind it, but game mods should know better. Expiation is a game where characters are assigned a crime without further explanation and told to await sentencing. The crime can be whatever you like! the player cap at the moment is 52/70.

Ximilia is a character-driven sci-fi mission game. Characters willingly agree to join the crew and help collect ~mysterious orbs~ scattered across different worlds, in order to use their power to change a regret from their past. The base is a space station, but missions hit a variety of themes and settings. (The last 4 missions have been D&D-style fantasy & adventure, a tiny nature world facing apocalypse, a futuristic galaxy with political intrigue, and a memory share; our upcoming mission is Pokemon-inspired.) AC is 10 comments across 2-4 threads. So far I've found the game to be medium-paced and very backtag friendly. Additionally, this game is capped at 60 characters, and apps will open this month if we have 10 available slots-- right now, we have 8 slots, so there's a pretty good chance we'll open.

I guess my top dudes are Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Shadow and Rouge from any franchise, IDW specific I would die for a Surge, Tangle or Whisper. Metal and/or Mecha Sonic would be amazing look I'd be happy to have literally anybody. Dig up one of the Underground characters, that would also be amazing. I'm easy to please.
[game info]: Short version: characters are kidnapped by aliens and dumped on a planet called Agra 10 which is kind of a crap planet because it's being ravaged by weirdo energy storms that fart around with people's powers and stuff. Also the aliens expect everyone to figure out how to save their world from the weird storms, thanks guys. Hijinx ensue. Here's the premise, it's better at explaining itself than I am at explaining it lmao.
The major themes of the game are Survival, Adventure, and SOL if that's your jam. AC is easy and the OOC vibe is super chill. Current TDM is over here. Check us out, we don't bite!

Mario Bros @ Seasons and Folkmore

[wanted]: Bowser, Mario, Luigi, Bowser Jr., all of the Koopalings, Wario, Waluigi, Peach, Daisy, tbh ANYONE that you have.
[game info]: Both games are great! Both have activity check ins instead of AC which is perfect for those of us who are busy or lower on spoons [myself very much included] and both always offer things to do.
Seasons offers things like seasonal magic that characters can learn, and can keep their canon powers for the most part. It's a pretty laid back, chill game with a wide variety of other casts of characters to bounce off of. I've linked the premise above.
Folkmore also offers magic for characters to learn -- this one's a bit different, though, because characters can be Myths, Legends, or Familiars. Each has a different set of traits, Myths generally being bad guys, Legends being good guys, and Familiars being those sort in between. Personally, Iggy is a Familiar and I've had a lot of fun messing around with the animal form I've chosen for him [a hyena]. This game also boasts a large variety of characters from all walks of life and they're all great. I've also linked the premise for this game as well.
In Seasons, Iggy's got grand plans for a hostile takeover at some point. And by Grand Plans™, I mean something probably really stupid but it won't stop him from trying when the time is right. He's been none too quiet about what he wants to do and he's actively looking for people to help him out. He only wants to take control for the specific reason of being able to rub it in his siblings faces eventually, because, y'know. Priorities.
In Folkmore, Iggy's been a lot more quiet, opting to simply watch and wait things out. He's been getting better and better at his familiar abilities but he hasn't forged any allies yet with anyone, Myth or Legend. He's just sort of been off doing his own thing and keeping an eye on people
and harassing at least two or three of those people.The TL;DR of all of this, is that if you have a character that you're not sure you can play in a big activity check based game but still wanna have fun, these two games are great options and I've had a ton of fun so far, even as a lone canon warrior. VOLTRON: LEGENDARY DEFENDER @ VICTORY ROAD

[wanted]: EVERYONE, but especially Lance, Pidge, Hunk, Coran, Alfor, Krolia, Veronica, James and the other MFE pilots, and any major Blades!
[game info]: Victory Road is a long-running jamjar set in the world of Pokémon, specifically the regions of Johto, Kanto, and the Sevii Islands. Characters are dropped in the middle of New Bark Town- or Team Rocket HQ in Goldenrod City- with a starter Pokémon, but after that, where your journey leads is up to you! Travel around the different regions catching and raising all your favorite Pokémon, take on the Indigo League and earn the right to open your own Gym, breed Pokémon for hidden abilities and shinies either for fun or to climb the ranks of the Johtonian-Kantonian Breeders Association, or get drafted into Team Rocket and pull off huge heists with flashy catch phrase scenes! And a bonus for Voltrons: we already have a VERY nice beach house on Four Island!
Canon powers are nerfed, and characters are humanized (although minor cosmetic features like Altean characteristics can stay), but in their place… Pokémon! Almost anything up to Gen 8, including Hisuian Pokémon- with Gen 9 Pokémon slowly being incorporated- and you can own up to 150 of them at a time! And any move they can legally learn in any generation, they keep forever, so no four-move limit! There are no cast limits either, which is a blessing in a huge canon like ours. The game is large with a relaxed pace and a chill AC of 10 comments a month, but Pokémon battles, the Gym battle circuit, roughly twice-yearly contests, missions for Team Rocket members (or fending them off), and roughly monthly events allow you to balance adventure and slice-of-life to your liking. May featured a Fourth Wall event, during which Keith and Allura got married, and June had giant Orthworm rampages courtesy of Team Rocket and a Freaky Friday event featuring age changes! July promises an event featuring the Legendary Seekers; last time we saw them, they recruited characters to explore a lost temple to Manaphy and Phione, so what’s coming up should be fascinating!

[wanted]: EVERYONE but actually my number one pie in the sky ask is Xeno bc I think that would be hilarious. Otherwise, Gen, Tsukasa, Ryusui, Kohaku, Chrome.
[game info]: Glencola is an exploration type game where characters are on what seems to be a tropical/subtropical island but Something Is Weird! Characters are trying to survive here, salvaging what they can from places that already exist on the island. There are hostiles and some things that seem kind of ~supernatural~ but since it's early on in the game (I think we're on like day 15 or day 16 at this point), we don't have tons of answers.
Senku is leading what he's called Team Science, a group of people staying at an abandoned airfield they found early on. He's mostly gathering resources and trying to build things to keep people alive, but also starting to explore whatever is actually happening. His arc here is so extremely Dr. STONE, it is always really amusing to me! It would be more amusing with people who have seen him do this kind of thing before ;D
It's a small (so far) but active game, easy to meet AC, and personally I find the search mechanics really interesting because you never know what you're going to discover. Like a new crab every day, or bundle after bundle of beach peas. Or hints that there are animals out there that are extremely abnormal…

HANNIBAL-VERSE @ THE CITY

[wanted]: While I'd adore seeing any character from any book, film, or TV version
that isn't Manhunter, I have wanted to have Clarice interact with the entire NBC Hannibal cast since it released and insert her into that whole CR clusterfrick. I'd love to see the different ways for her and Will Graham to progress as who knows, but hopefully nothing more antagonizing than frenemies, and I have a mighty need for NBC Hannibal and film Clarice to be words I get to write. I don't have ulterior motives in where I would want any of that CR to develop, because I am happy to write and develop Clarice on her own, free from Lecter's influence as she deserves. But I am also incredibly curious about the possibilities of her knowing who HE is, despite his different appearance, without him aware of this at all, having not met her yet. Whereas she has to see him differently and be even more annoyed with and confused by herself.I think if there are still any Alana Blooms or Jack Crawfords out there, while she has different versions of them in her world, she'd like these ones better and be grateful for their guidance and wisdom, regardless. I would enjoy her taking steam out on NBC Chilton sometime and am grateful I've never seen a film Chilton appear, tbh.

[wanted]: I especially want to see Webber, Queen Charlie, Walani, or Abigail, but really anyone would be great. Wormwood or a Wendy without an Abigail player lined up would probably struggle in this setting though.
[game info]: Come Sail Away - Sail or Sails for short - is a horror-comedy jamjar set on the Serena Eterna, a luxury cruise ship in a bubble dimension. It's run by The Captain, a rogue jinn, who powers the boat with the suffering and death of the passengers. Having said that, most of the horror is during the semi-monthly opt-in events, with the tone being slice-of-life in between The Horrors with room for both silliness and serious character development. Medium pace, backtag friendly, tends to get much faster when events begin or end.
AC is medium-high, but simple to keep track of; either three tag-out threads each with 10 comments from you, or one thread with 10 comments and one open post.
We just got a Maxwell and he hasn't actually met Wilson yet but our plans are to take things in a homoerotic-bickering-rivalry Maxwil direction over the long term. I think Webber would get along well with the other weird children we have, Charlie would have interesting interactions with Maxwell and the Captain, Abigail would bond with our other young fighty ghost characters and she'd also have interesting interactions with Maxwell, and Walani would be a natural fit for the tropical vacation setting.

A slow-paced, slice-of-life game set to a backdrop of mid-2000s liminal spaces. Plot is currently scattered breadcrumbs at these early stages, but there is a strong mystery vibe that looks promising. Very active player-base too.

[game info]: DUPLICITY is a panfandom dystopian sex game that centers around negative traits, power imbalances, and the outcome of succumbing to darker urges. Bad behaviour is encouraged; events will touch on kink, horror, science fiction, game plot, and slice of life tossed in when needed.
