April Event and Intro Log
Move off the common paths and onto 'shortcuts' or less frequented areas of the vast campus and things are quite different. Here, the plants grow just as experience with this chaotic and often dangerous school would lead you to expect. Broad-leafed stalks stretch upwards, petals unfolding to reveal long jets of fire instead of a sensible stamen. Bushes have large toothy mouths, and viciously swallow anyone who comes near (though they are still just bushes, and the victims end up on the their other side just a few scratches worse for wear). A tree grows quills instead of needles; another sprouts paper airplanes instead of leaves. An extremely aggressive pitcher-plant wanders the pathways, mugging students at knifepoint. It's a jungle out there.
Uh-huh. A pack of bullies with more spell experience than wisdom has banded together to take delight in the suffering of others. They overtly pick on the small, the meek, and those with less magical skill; they torment the larger, the bold, and the powerful in secret. Worse, they are the clever sorts of bullies, who go out of their way not to get caught and not to do anything that can't be played off or explained away. Maybe you attracted their attention by looking weak enough to pick on. Or strong enough to need to be taken down a notch. Or weird enough that you were the Other and thus lesser. Or pretty/handsome enough that you needed to look less attractive so they would look more so. They are pretty good at justifying picking on anyone, really. Are they pestering you by magical tripping or property destruction? Playing keep-away with your class books? Better be careful how you respond; their fathers might hear about it.
Now, to their credit, the assembled people aren't heartless. If a ship truly looks to be in trouble, or if it's smashed to the ground or into a dock, the people of Anastara don't hesitate to help those on board to safety or ensure that they don't go down with their ship. But mostly it's watching the chaos. It IS quite a show...
This month, the team has developed a Sundering Glyph designed to detect any influence of the magic on you. Painted on your arm, it will shine with a bright light when a Sundering effect attempts to influence you. They explain that they believe the Sundered are still subject to either the spell that brought them here or new ones, because they have detected remnants of Sundering magic in the wake of students who have mysteriously disappeared. They ask only that you report back when it lights up. Problem: when the Glyph erupts, either because of the Glyph itself or the spell it has detected... those who bear it find themselves no longer where they started. Perhaps they find themselves in a classroom late at night. Or the wrong dormitory. Or in the Great Hall in their nightshirt. Or for the utterly lowbrow amongst you, a restroom occupied by the wrong gender. Whatever the case: sorry.

Reputation typically precedes dragonkind and it was made quickly and frighteningly clear for Spyro that the general native populace wasn’t very fond of them. Aside from the one who practically adopted him, it was a reasonable assumption that maybe the native dragons here if more still existed weren’t very peaceful.
Which is why he really should’ve refrained from torching the seat of a bully’s pants while they were busy harassing a different student, sending them running. Maybe this is when you first meet Spyro, who wears the red and orange of Valhudor as a wraparound scarf and a backpack full of ordinary school supplies- offering a forepaw forward that’ll feel anatomically like a normal hand aside from the soft scales and sharp yet stubby claws.
“Hi, I’m Spyro...! You alright?”
…
……
Or maybe you’ll be coming to his rescue instead when the one guy he scared off comes back with not only a new pair of pants but also some buddies. Time to make their daddies proud by putting such a dangerous creature back into extinction. With their wands, they’ve conjured some bindings for Spyro’s mouth (can’t have any more of that fire breathing action going) but then they also can’t resist flipping him up and down in the air with a levitation spell.
B - Crashing In (Research)
No qualms are had whatsoever when the research team makes their requests. Spyro just needs some extra assurance that the process of taking samples is entirely painless and then carefully relates that his realm is a peaceful one, that summing up dragons as savage beasts or cruel tyrants is harsh and inaccurate.
Once he has the glyph on what would be his forearm if he stood up on just two legs more often, Spyro sees no issue with allowing his new familiar (a fire-bellied toad he was told) to sit on his head as he’s in his flameproofed suite and writing at the desk.
But of course, shenanigans happen sooner or later and rather abruptly. "Woah!" he shouts out and either you’re faced with dragon wings flapping near your face furiously yet also expertly for a safe landing... or one could just catch him. He’s small enough for that too.
His eyes are on the errant sheet of paper that’s escaped from his grip though.
C - Wildcard!
[Got something else in mind? Come at me! Prose and Brackets welcome.]
research!
"Y- You're a dragon!" His eyes light up and he smiles wide, though he eventually realizes that Spyro's attention is elsewhere. "Peregrin, grab that, quick!" His familiar, currently a cat with bat wings, is chasing after it.

"Uh. Yep. I'm a dragon alright. I've been hearing that all day actually."

"H- Hah, I'm sorry, I just... I've never met a dragon that could talk and this is just really cool. Did you just arrive?"

RESEARCH
A dragon.
A (small) dragon just landed in his dorm.
Noa doesn't really have any words for the situation, since it's all very strange, even after watching and sketching fire-spitting quill plants all day.
The local 'assistant' penguin has caught the paper, at any rate. And a smaller, far more royal penguin in an open palanquin is busy chirping excitedly at the dragon himself. DRAGONS!
Noa is just going to continue staring. "...."
no subject
Judging from the decor, he has a guess that under different circumstances he might've actually belonged in here.
"Guess I better make sure I don't sneeze in here, eh Burn?" he says to the toad appearing to still be hanging for dear life on his head by the horn. Which gets a croak from the familiar, but is either an actual response or just a coincidence.
And then the dragon takes a good look at Noa, noting the staring and the much more enthused-looking penguin. "What's up? Haven't seen a dragon like me before either?"
no subject
Noa for his part, has only barely regained composure. "...To be blunt, I've never seen a real dragon at all. ...they weren't real where I lived."

"YOU'RE A TALKING DRAGON!" Way to use those keen observational skills, Webby.

Spyro starts to pull his claw back for putting it back on the ground
how unsanitaryunless she grabs it for a vigorous and overenthusiastic handshake."Do you actually have dragons where you come from?"
no subject
Oh yeah, he'd been saying something, hadn't he? She looks up. "I've only seen one, and it couldn't talk, it just wanted to eat up a bunch of gold."

The lingering smoke and offered claws answer his question immediately. And bring up several more.
"I..." Give him a moment. Another moment. His eyes focus on the familiar orange and red stripes, the same colors as his own uniform, and his shoulders relax. "Yes. I'm quite all right."
no subject
"There's a lot of jerks around here willing to start up some trouble just for the heck of it, huh? You'd think someone would do something about that."
no subject
"Unfortunately, the school has not been proactive in that regard." Considering the blizzard… and golems… and rogue teachers. None of which he’s going to bring up right now, though he suspects this fellow would not be dissuaded if he did.
"But I believe staying alert and looking out for each other is the best preemptive. Thank you, Spyro." He turned down the claw-shake – which he is still unsure about – but gives a nod of appreciation. Clearly, the dragon has manners. "I’m Tenn, and it would seem we’re in the same House. You must have arrived recently."

Research
So he set a small pile of books down on the desk and took his notebook out and put it on the desk. Digging around in his bag a little, he found his pen and set that on top of the notebook.
But when he looked up again something was falling fast and instead of running, Yuki managed to catch it safely in his arms and came face to face with a..dragon?
no subject
"At this rate, I don't think any of us are gonna get anything done while this keeps going off," he grumbles, with a gesture to the now dull thing on his forearm scales.
no subject
But then again the day wasn't over.
Amethyst eyes followed the gesture the dragon had made and he blinked to look closer at it. And then the boy returned his gaze to the other still in his arms.
"How did you get that mark?"

Bullies
Wondering if the students had gone mad, the man's next steps had him come to a complete halt as he looked at a ..dragon. And it was talking, and not in a threatening manner as he was used to. And in all actuality, it appeared to be friendly and inquiring if he was alright.
"I am quite alright." You're going to have to forgive a surprised knight.
no subject
"Well. That guy should be too. With all the magic around here, it shouldn't take too long to get a little dragon fire put out."
Also clearly the knight is looking at a young dragon that hasn't quite thought his decision through. "... He deserved it, really."
no subject
"I take it by that, you mean that you were merely defending yourself?" With this question, the knight is trying to figure out what would cause the dragon to set someone's pants on fire. 'He deserved it' is pretty vague.
But there's no judgment in the tone, just someone trying to figure out why the whole school seemed turned upside down in one way or another today.

Bullies
So coming across the scene of a group of students tormenting what looked to be some poor creature, she couldn't help stomping over.
"Hey! Stop that! You leave him alone!"
no subject
"We're just teaching this thing a lesson before we throw it out from the school!"
"Yeah! We've got a dangerous animal here, better step back before it burns you too!"
... That 'warning' might've had a spark of merit if it wasn't for how magically well what could be tape was still present on the little dragon's snout like how most humans would choose to safely handle an alligator or crocodile.

He jumps back and crouches with a... well his voice comes out in an angry sounding exhale as a human produces rather than an animalistic growl. "Bring it! Swords don't scare me!"
... Fighting without Sparx at his side for however long they'll be separated like this is a terrifying prospect though.

And then he spoke. So not a Heartless then. Wordlessly she just gave a small nod, not sure what to say.

"... You sure?"
Because for all the dragon knows the hiding is from those bullies managing to do some kind of harm before he stepped in.
