I wish the weather would stop changing so dramatically. It's giving me a headache... literally. I know some places can get unseasonably warm, but this is ridiculous.
[text, private to Minato:]
Hey, I need you to do me a favor. Can you take Miki out for an afternoon this week? Keep her busy for me?
[text, private to Shinjiro:]
We need to make sure Miki has a good Christmas this year. I have a plan, but I need your help.

[He doesn't know what's worse: Aki actually thinking through something long enough to make a plan for it, or just doing whatever the hell he feels like doing the very moment he thinks of it.]

[Text - Private]
[Because maybe if he types Aki's plan back to him, he'll see how stupid it reads in kanji.]
Why?
[Text - Private]
[Clearly, it didn't make an impression. Nice try, though, Shinji.]
So I can figure out the perfect Christmas gift. It's really important. We always used to make sure her Christmas was special when we were kids. It's the same now.
[Text - Private]
But if there's one thing he can agree with, it's that Miki derserves to have a Christmas. That much, at least, hasn't changed. Even if he knows Miki's not a little kid anymore, and who knows if she even gives a damn about it like she used to. They don't need to foster her childhood-sanctioned belief in Santa anymore, but she should have something. And Aki certainly means well—he always means well.]
And you can't "figure out" something without breaking into her apartment?
[But that doesn't mean he's chock full of good ideas. Just full of the kind of good intentions one of the many roads to hell probably accidentally got paved with when an idiot got lost on his way to heaven. Girls have a thing about privacy, don't they? He has a thing about privacy. And it really is a stupid idea, and Aki probably has an even more ass-backwards plan of how to go about it, that much he's sure of.]

It's still a stupid idea. And Shinjiro should be telling him its a shitty idea, like most of Aki's ideas usually are—all a very suspicious shade of brown—except he knows full well how things will go. Because it's how things always go, like life subsisted off patterns while arguments were as scripted as fate was supposed to be. And even if he told Aki he wanted no part in it, the moron would still go ahead with his idea anyway, and probably do a half-assed job of it, because what does Aki know about getting into someone's apartment anyways? And how to leave things alone and learn that it's better to search a room with your eyes rather than stumble around, hoping to trip over something to punch and get some kind of heaven-sent epiphany out of it.
So he might as well let Aki be a stupid older brother while he can. Miki deserves an idiot more than she ever deserved a hero, because that's what she would have had if he hadn't died. Or if she hadn't. Meanwhile, he can stand around and make sure he doesn't break something.]
When?
[Text - Private]
Minato's going to get her out of the house for an afternoon in the next couple of days. I'll let you know when. I've been casing the joint.
[Someone is proud.
And has been watching mobster movies.]
[Text - Private]
You asked Minato to take her out?
[He's starting to sound like a damn parrot.]
[Text - Private]
[What are you worried about, Shinji? Minato's a great friend! Akihiko can trust him, right? I mean, you don't touch your friends' little sisters, so everything should be fine.]
[Text - Private]
Not that he's all that worried about Minato—who else would Aki have asked, anyway? Minako would have gotten suspicious before Aki told her everything anyway, and Mitsuru doesn't exactly have a lot in common with Miki, besides her motorcycle, maybe.
...But the things he's guessed at that Aki hasn't.
Shinjiro's pretty sure Aki just set up his sister on a half-date, at the very least.
The "friend's little sister" clause also doesn't really hold up that well over time.]
You tell him to at least try and keep her from locking the door when he takes her out?
