Week 3, Sunday Post-Execution - Souji

[Ion is absolutely sure he has nothing he can say that is going to make Souji feel better. But, well, he really likes Souji. He can't not check up on him. Especially now that he's partnered with his other self. Everything feels...odd. Different. It takes him a little while as he collects himself, knowing that Souji probably needs his own space, before he goes and finds him.]

I wanted to know if there was anything I could get you.

[Souji's seated in the kitchen a few hours after the execution and honestly, outside of being very tired and worn down from four days of going turbo and ignoring everything necessary to keep his tuberculosis in check, he seems to be doing okay. It had become a necessity the moment he'd agreed to end Yasusada's life, after all - he needs to keep himself together and keep moving forward. That's all.

He offers Ion a small smile, in any case.]

Thank you, but I'm fine. [And then, nudging his teapot forward:] Would you like some?

Oh...yes, I'd love some, thank you.

[He gets his own cup and joins Souji, returning the small smile with one of his own. He pours his cup carefully before replacing the teapot.]

...I hope the two of you--you and Ion--will do well together.

[He had other thoughts run through his mind: relief that Souji's alive, but...with how he feels about some of the other deaths, it feels like an inappropriate sentiment. Really, there was no perfect way to come out of the execution.]

[REAL CONFLICTS HONESTLY, he's also told Ion he was grateful to see him alive but... the fact that it came at the cost of two lives is kind of a lot to take in.

So he's set it aside for now. It's something he can sort through later, when what he needs to do is done.]

I hope for the same. He seems like he could use a rest after this week, too.

Yes. I’m really worried about him...but I don’t think he’d appreciate hearing that from me.

[But it’s fine even though...the dying and all that.]

You’ll try and get some rest too, won’t you?

[Honestly, the other Ion seems like he'd not appreciate a lot of things that most people would even if they came from someone other than this Ion. He sure doesn't muse aloud, though.]

It's good that he has you here, you know.

[Maybe this punk is a tiny sliver of his impulse control, who knows. In any case, he really does think the two of them are probably better off here together, somehow.

AS FOR THAT.]

I will, yes. [He really has been troublesome to far too many people, goodness.] ...I'm sorry if I've worried you.

[Is it though...he has no idea. So he’s just gonna sidestep that one with a smile.]

Oh, no. I think everyone is worrying everyone here. I know I’ve certainly been reckless, myself. But it’s like we talked about in the observatory...I’d hate to lose such good friends.

[Whatever that means considering, huh, that’s not a thing that ever happened.]

[The entire Ion mess seems complicated so that's Fair...

In any case, he's about to commiserate over their shared general worry (and possibly the general bad habit that 80% of this castle has when it comes to getting into a stupid amount of trouble due to recklessness, but?! That gives him pause.]

...? In the observatory?

[His memory's a little foggy thanks to the entire wall of trauma that bodyslammed him over the last few days, but he can't recall having seen either of the Ions any time he'd gone there.]

[Ion blinks.]

Yes...on Wednesday, when we made up those stories about the stars...

[He looks down. Man his stories were really that boring? He knew he wasn’t cut out to make it as a writer.]

[He can't give up on his writing career now?! Plum is plum, Ion.

In any case he also actually did a lot of making stories up about stars with other people, so it takes him a second to comb back through all those early-week memories. HM...]

On Wednesday? I... don't recall having been to the observatory. I wasn't feeling very well at the time.

[Since he still attributes that random bout of passing out to his tb!! INCREDIBLE.]

...It might be the castle playing tricks on you? [Because gosh who would drug a pig and bring it along to complete a disguise!!] We know that it does that already, but it usually isn't outside of Fridays.

I’m sorry. I didn’t realize I’d brought up something so confusing. I only meant to say that...I’d like to make the most of the time that we have to spend with one another.

[How can anyone ever be mean to Ion when he looks like this honestly.

Souji holds up the hand not on his cup, waving it in gentle dismissal of the apology.]

No, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to derail. I do agree with that, in any case... It's important to cherish this time.

[Even if it's painful sometimes. ...Hopefully that won't become a constant.]
