Holy crap Crisis Core.

So, uh. A magazine scan has surfaced. With concept art. And new screens.
Eeeeee.
sjdhblsf Zax looks so cute and innocent and boy-next-door wholesome in the concept art. XD XD And his hair in the screens actually looks more like it might eat you than it did when it was all long and shit, as it seems to be partway through eating his head. XD Also, Tseng! Apparently as a semi-main cast member! This can only be a good thing. Maybethe fanon theory about him being from Wutai will be confirmed we'll get some real backstory on him while we're playing with the SOLDIERs.
Tseng being involved and apparently knowing Zax from his young dumb SOLDIER-kid days also makes his role in Last Order really interesting and makes me really want to get inside his head. Did he know Cloud too, prior to Nibelheim? Did he know about Aerith? We know he regretted the orders to hand Zax and Cloud over as specimens and then to retrieve them when they escaped... *fascinated*
Also, it looks like Zax's mysterious mentor has made an appearance,though he's still noticeably deficient in the name department. (Edit: I was wrong! Looks like this is the "Angeal" we've heard about. I'm intrigued.) He also seems to have the Buster Sword while Zax has some generic other sword, which is intriguing. Are Buster Swords standard issue for First Class and Zax just took a while to get there, or is there one Buster Sword and it's special? (The latter would be interesting, considering that it was later passed on to Cloud... It's a hand-me-down sword!)
... I keep staring at Zax in the concept art. I just wanna ruffle his hair. How old is he there, anyway? 16? He can't possibly be older than 16.
Is it amusing to anybody else that Cloud has been in the VERY BACK of all the promo art for every Compilation entry besides AC? I mean, it makes sense - before FF7 in the timeline, he wasn't that significant; that's the drama of his character, that he was this insignificant little trooper and then got dragged into the hero role. And then in DoC, I imagine he's a little sick of being the hero and is more than happy to let Vincent take the spotlight. Still, I'm finding it really funny. XD I love Cloud. He's so cute.
... So, yeah. I'm excited for Crisis Core. :D

Now, Cloud. Am I the only one bothered by the fact that Cloud has had that same INSANE hairdo for like forever? I know people don't tend to change a lot in games, but... he had a ponytail when he was 14. I'm assuming he cut his hair sometime between that and Seph's bbq. Then he spent 5 years in a lab, in which his hair HAD to have grown. Then Zack broke him out and probably cut the
sexy longtangled mess off, which caused the crazy uneven cut he sports in the original game.Or at least that's how I always thought of it, only it seems that haircut was the vogue in Midgar :/ I mean, why else would he still have the Yuki-like lock of hair in front of his ear like he had throughout the WHOLE COMPILATION?
I held hope that we'd get to see his ponytail in high resolution, but I guess not D: (did he even have his ponytail in the flashback in Before Crisis?)

Meh. I like Cloud's insane hairdo, so you won't find me complaining. XD No, I don't think he had it then; he probably hacked it all off when he got into the military.

Anyway, it seems like the SOLDIERs, especially the First Class, are given a lot of leeway with their appearance. But Cloud was coming in on the bottom level, with the lowly troopers. Who have to wear helmets. They've probably got a policy against long hair. XD
...er, no, can't say as I do. XD; He had a ponytail that was really cute, now he doesn't which is kind of sad, and that's about as much thought as I give it. XD;

Now, I think Zack had long hair in the game because he spent five years unable to chop it off. If you look at the promo pic you can ALMOST believe it'd grow into that shape.
