setting
The city of SITIHIR (pronounced like "city here") is surrounded by thousands of magic doors in all sorts of shapes and designs, each leading to another universe. The ones that lead to universes inhabited by visitors of Sitihir (or, in other words, the characters played by the game's muns) are always unlocked and accessible to anyone. Doors to other worlds—player-created or from another canon—are open to characters at select times. Sitihir is an artificial projection, a virtual reality maintained by a currently unknown group of programmers to permit safe travel between dimensions. It acts as a hub between the worlds, and is very much a small, contained utopia that mimics a city in the modern world so well that one would never guess that it's "fake". Measuring about thirteen square kilometers in size, it has almost everything one could need for a happy life—places to stay, food to eat, things to do, wireless internet access everywhere—all at the low low price of "free". Characters are welcome to make a life for themselves in Sitihir if they find it to their liking. The local residents are peaceful and accommodating people, if a little forgetful. But such convenience is not without a small price to pay—Sitihir suffers from occasional GLITCHES in the programming that cause strange things to happen: anything from trapping its visitors in the city temporarily to making it rain peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to other changes in the setting. Glitches are always short, though, with most lasting for a couple of hours and some lasting for a few days. ♧ SITIHIR LOCATIONS As the city itself is a malleable slate, we expect that players will come up with their own locations to utilize. These locations already exist, we will just keep a record of them here as they're used and established by players. To keep track of them all, please comment here when you've "invented" a new location so the world can develop around how we play in it. For instance, if I set up a post in a Sitihir's Starbucks, I'd comment here so that others would know the Starbucks exists for future visits! If an OP forgets to add it here, anyone can add it here for them as long as it ends up here eventually. Use the following form to add a location: Other than that, Sitihir is purposely nondescript—while it's mostly urban, there are rural areas and woods surrounding it as well, where you'll find many of the doors. You've reached the furthest reaches of Sitihir once you find a door—an invisible force field will prevent you from going any further no matter how godmodey you are. It's either back into the city or through one of the doors for you! Sitihir is not an island. ♧ THE DOORS Like it says above, the outskirts of the city are surrounded by countless doors. If we have a character in the game from the world of Pokemon, then the door to the world of Pokemon is accessible by anyone at any time. But if we have someone who wants to visit the world of Lord of the Rings and we have no characters from that canon, then ICly, the world of Middle Earth is only accessible on certain days. However, this limitation is IC rather than OOC—so you can have your character enter on any day you feel like playing there, but ICly there will be times those doors will be locked. ♧ SATELLITE WORLD LOCATIONS If you set an open post in a canon's world, please give at least some description of what it's like for the unfamiliar, even if it's just a video linking to footage of it from a movie or something. You don't need to list it here, though you can if there's significant multifandom interaction taking place there. And yes, you may bring things from the satellite worlds into Sitihir, and vice versa. The doors will temporarily stretch in size to accommodate for rolling down the streets of Victorian England in a Camaro. ♧ INTERNET Sitihir has high-speed internet and mobile phone access at every point within the city, and in the satellite worlds that are technologically capable of supporting it. (Which means your iPhone will not find service or wireless internet in Sengoku Japan... sorry!) There are no "devices" given out or anything of the sort; if your character wants a connection to the internet or a phone they'll have to obtain one on their own. IC use of social networking sites like Twitter, Tumblr, Plurk, Facebook, Instagram, etc are highly encouraged ♧ GLITCHES Any player may set up a glitch post with use of their own character accounts OR the game-shared account ![]() ♧ PASSAGE OF TIME For maximum flexibility, time while in Sitihir ONLY passes at 7 RL days = 1 IC day, starting May 8th, 2013. The day will change every Wednesday as noted on the comm page. In the satellite worlds, time passes according to however you want to play! ♧ DEATH & VIOLENCE Death is not a hunter unbeknownst to its prey. If you die, you're fuckin' done, son. Or rather, your character's memories of their time in Sitihir will be wiped entirely and if you want to keep playing them you'll have to start over. If you start getting really violent and blowing things up... well, someone will incapacitate you, one way or another. Plot it out. |
