I'm a little different. I'm a Queer Muslim. I'm super honking liberal. I have two bunnies and two roommates. I am vegetarian, but not a vegevangelist.

I love to cook things, especially stir-fry. I make a mean tofu stir-fry. Yum.

Not only do I play bass (I need to practice more...and I want to be in a band again), but I played flute for years in high school, too, even appearing on TV during the Virginia Beach Jazz Festival (I think that's what it was called), but anyway our High School Band placed 9th in the nation and I was just a freshman...doing a flute solo in a big band! W00T! That was such a great memory.

Anyway, I find playing music to be incredibly meditative and spiritual, and there's nothing like listening to a bunch of people jam on a line you've been walking for the past twenty minutes.

I mostly work and go to school. My major is Family Studies and I will become a Family Life Educator, capable of working in a variety of settings. In my spare time I take care of the pets in the house, play on the computer, and try to keep the apartment decently clean. I graduate in May of 2009, so not too far from now. It's scary having this new page of my life turn.

I'm interning with Child Protective Services and Foster Care in Genesee County (Flint, MI) currently, and it's kind of scary there, to tell you the truth. It's such a large machine and I am barely even a cog. I'm unemployed currently and might soon be unable to afford much of anything. Oh well, that's life.

Women's Rights and Queer Rights are among the forefront of my passions. I try to help disadvantaged people of all flavors, though, and try to be as open minded as possible. I try to research things as much as possible before I make a decision, which is one of the ways that I became Muslim. Islam is another passion of mine: I didn't know how much I could love God. I never thought I had that in me, to be honest. When I start to lose focus, I remember a favorite verse of mine:

4:135: O you who believe, you shall be absolutely equitable, and observe GOD, when you serve as witnesses, even against yourselves, or your parents, or your relatives. Whether the accused is rich or poor, GOD takes care of both. Therefore, do not be biased by your personal wishes. If you deviate or disregard (this commandment), then GOD is fully Cognizant of everything you do.
