Character name: Kese Seyli

One-paragraph (100 words) summary of your character.

An ex-kel crashhawk and grunt, now a mercenary on the edges of the Hexarchate. With no options for a better life on planet, pragmatic Seyli enlisted, embracing the fact that they could at any time be sacrificed. It offered a more interesting life than running the family foodcart. Seyli is hardworking, but isn't particularly academic. They're not fond of Shuos games as their mind struggles to processes the complicated steps (they'd have never been a strategist or tactician). Physically, they're stocky/muscular with unremarkable features and shaggy black hair. They modded and present as an alt after deserting the Kel.

How did your character first learn of the hexarchate?

Born into it, from a family who had no fraction service prior to them joining the Kel when they (just barely) passed the entrance exams. Their homeworld, family, and life before the Kel was unremarkable.

Why did your character join this rebellion?

Recruited into it after ending up in a rift, showing up at the right time and the right place. They deserted the Kel during General Kel Vrae Tala's failed Fire Grasses campaign and have no love for the empire who so easily fucks with their people. TL:DR: Why not? They need something to punch.

What type of role would your character play in a mission?

Seyli is a hitter and is happy to follow the orders of a team leader when they need someone to go in guns blazing or fists out. In absence of a leader, they'll follow group will...unless they seriously disagree with the choices.

What kinds of missions would your character like to see?

Seyli follows (reasonable) orders well, and would be happy to be on guard duty or scouting missions where they need someone who is a good shot or a steady hand. They don't believe romance is something that would ever happen to them, but they aren't uninterested in it. They would be hilariously terrible at diplomacy, and would have to be carefully guided in intrigue, but would do what they were set to the best they could.

What is your character's secret dream or desire, the one they've never told anyone?

To have a pack of dogs and several spouses someday, retiring to be a shooting instructor or trainer of some sort.

How will your character die?

Ideally, in bed, but they know well enough that they're more likely to go out in a fight. An expendable body for a greater cause.

Does your character have any powers that the hexarchate would consider "exotic" (magical)?

No. Just brawn and simple weapons.

What do you (the player) enjoy most in an RPG?

I love collaborative storytelling events and have been doing text based online RPGs of one sort or another since ~2002. I never know where they're going to end up, and it's always a fun journey to get to the end.

You have 100 words to tell me anything else you want me and the other players to know about your character. Do it here.

They have some kind of learning disability that made the Kel seem attractive (in the simplicity of following orders as an soldier) however they ended up doing security on a moth, rather as a garden Kel, and their dissatisfaction grew from there. I as the player think their neurodivergence has something with them ending up as a crash hawk. They deserted not because they were afraid, but because they weren't going to die on a stupid order

They are very physical, learn best kinetically, and enjoy being friendly with their team, provided they view their teammates as people they respect.

I was poking around with Seyli's write up because there have been some things that came into play while writing them that isn't in the original. Nothing major in the changes, just things laid out a little more clearly.

Writeup:

An ex-kel crashhawk (never formally out processed), now a mercenary on the edges of the Hexarchate. With no options for a better life on planet, pragmatic Seyli enlisted, embracing the fact that they could at any time be sacrificed. It offered a more interesting life than running the family foodcart. Seyli is hardworking, but isn't particularly academic. They're not fond of Shuos games as their mind struggles to process the complicated steps (they'd have never been a strategist or tactician).

Physically, they're stocky/muscular, black hair in an undercut with a long ponytail and brown eyes. They had several mods done once coming through the time rift and have a flat chest and wide hips.

They are very physical, learn best kinetically. They're proficient at firearms and hand to hand combat, but don't duel. They much prefer some kind of MMA fighting.

They have some kind of learning disability that made the Kel seem attractive (in the simplicity of following orders as a soldier) however they ended up doing security on a moth, rather as a garden Kel, and their dissatisfaction grew from there. I as the player think their neurodivergence has something with them ending up as a crash hawk. They aren't stupid, and infact has a small complex over being seen as stupid, but they know intelligence and wisdom wouldn't be their highest stats. They think better with their body and in movement.

They deserted not because they were afraid, but because they weren't going to die on a stupid order. There was an opportunity and keeping in line with their signifier of Ashhawk Wheeling, they took it and ran.

They have a lot of unresolved distress and fear over their Kel desertion. They don't know if they are Kel anymore, and that identity had meant a lot to them. They still don't know how they feel about being a crashhawk and is afraid to look at it. This is leading to some quiet depression and visible anxiety.

Seyli enjoys being friendly with their team, provided they view their teammates as people they respect. It gets complicated when they don't have respect for the people they are serving with/for. They don't want to be in charge and crave strong leadership.
